    Home car wash!

just to go off the topic a bit... whats with waxing? does it add a layer to your car? I heard that it takes a really thin layer off your car, the theory being the outside is all weatherd- wipe some paint off the top and you have brand new shiny paintwork. What's the deal? am i thinking of somethin else lol?
  2. again it's where you live (are imports common in your area?) and the cop's knowledge of the cars. talk to coco69 about cops.... he got done recently for power/weight and defects in a supra....
  3. nismo_boy - whats wrong with the 89' skylines??
  4. sorry my bad. what i was saying if this is the fifteen yr rule, then you must therefore be talking about an r32??
  5. i know that the tightness level of cops depends on the areas and their knowledge of the cars around them... but aybee.. thats really interesting, maybe the power/weight restrictions have changed since i last checked, or maybe vicroads have made a mistake somewhere?
  6. because this is the diy for the 15yr import rule... are you refering to taking the doors of an r32??
  7. if the aluminium body on the jag reduces the weight by 40% it would have to be pretty thin wouldn't it? lol id hate to own a car that somebody good dent at a carpark by accidentally bumping into it....
  8. thanks guys, so basically the 2 door is a little more upmarket?... are they the only differences between the two? And does that go throughout all the 32's from 89 onwards?
  9. so all of the 4 doors regardless of colour have different breaklights?
  10. so the 4door has the ugly breaklights? (black ones)
  11. i found a silver gtst with the normal back as well.
  12. hey all, i was browsing on prestige before looking at the '89 r32 gtst's when i noticed that some of them (being the silver ones) had the normal breaklights but the actual panel that holds the breaklights is black AND, on the back of the boot it has a small badge that says 'skyline' as opposed to the ones that i normally see with the large indented 'skyline'. Still looking at the gtst's i noticed that the other coloured 32's where 'normal' (same colour breaklight panels as the car and indented skyline on the back of the boot). To try and work out if this difference only appeared on the silver skylines, I looked at a silver GTS which was 'normal'. It seems weird that nissan would only produce differnt breaklight panels for the gtst in one color. can anybody clear this up for me?? thanks.
  13. i thought it was 125kw/tonne... ne way stock 33 is still way over. 32gtst is under by like .25 or something if your interested.
  14. sweet, that straightens things out for me. So say i import under the 15yr rule, and do the compliance myself. What happens bettween that and getting rego? thanks
  15. does that mean i can bring the car to a compliance standard myself, and then once completed take/tow the car to a RAWS workshop to have a certificarte filled out? another thing- why does bringing a car to compliance cost so much, as in whats included in the 1-5k or more that it costs. I can factor in the cost or tyres and even if i paid a mechanic to bring a car back to stock surely it wouldn't cost that much in labor?
  16. when the import lands in australia what happens next? Does the car get sent straight to a RAWS workshop to bring the car back to suit complinances? Is it possible to personally/known mechanic bring your car back to stock (or suit compliance) and then take it to a RAWS workshop and have a compliance certificate made? i still don't understand the diff between the 15yr and SEVS . my basic understanding is that 15yr rule is a lot less strict in compliance laws than the SEVS even though compliance varies in states?
  17. i don't know about the price of toluene (naphtha is the active ingredient in zippo fuel tho :flamed: ..) ive never even heard of it before lol... but the point about the ecu's is definatly valid, im pretty sure that cars back around 74 with ecu's where rare as. but if it does supposedly have all the benefits that modern motor claim it to have; then it could be worth (or not) moding the ecu... but it is worth researching at the least. ill look into it and get back to ya's....
  18. nah its not that bad, i know the skylines gonna cost me more than your av car but hey ill find the money, actually the situation isn't that bad , just thought it was worth looking at cos free fuel would be pretty damn cool... guess it was too good to be true then..
  19. At the moment wanting to buy a 32 for my first car, but theres this thought thats always pushing to the back of my head.... THE PETROL... and when your pumpin turbo through 6 cylinders; tends to drink a bit. But then i remebered some article that was on a current affairs or today tonight or somethin, about some way that you can make your own petrol out of the left over oil that fish and chip deep fryers??? apprently its really healthy.... but i don't know how true that is.. but this thing on TV was aggggggggggesssssss ago. does anybody know anything about this process???
