  1. 1 trye may need replacing because he could have blown one and replaced it for a better one.
  2. what do you mean by stricter regulations exactly funky?
  3. i keep hearing stuff about the 15yr rule going out.. When is this supposed to happen?? What are the chances of me being able to import under the 15yr rule december '05 or january '06... If the 15yr rule becomes abolished, how do we import? will we be forced to go under the SEVS scheme?
  4. hahaha thats a good idea actually.. talk about road rage, im gonna buy a crowbar and it's going to sit in the back.. next time someone gets out of the car to abuse me... BAM... and they wake up to a very trashed car... jk obviously.. but is that a referance to the fast and furious krzysiu? Paul walker didn't think vinnie was the bad guy cos he was 'too controlled for that?' and to prove that he wasn't too controlled for that the cop showed him the photos of the guy that he beat the crap out of with a wrench... its the similarity wrench/crowbar... rrrage- that thing you pointed out with the mustang is interesting, by whats been said up there^^^^ it looks like people are getting judged by what they are driving ... people think skyline = hoon. Does anybody else get treated differently when driving different cars? oh yea i forgot to say before as well... i once had a guy tell me to wind the windows down at the lights.. he was wearing a dark blue singlet and had tats all up his arms... im like are crap, here comes the abuse... but he told me that i was a good driver and that he was a truck driver and that he sees people do stupid things all the time, and that i should keep my wits about me. It was when i first started driving the commodore S. So he turned out to be a nice bloke, I'm a confident driver now, but i thought that what he said was really encouraging. I think that when I have my P's and a line I will do the same to others who I see that are driving well, not only to make them feel good about driving in general but to help break the sterotypical P plater + improted vechile = hoon image.
  5. thanks guys, feeling better today, thanks for all the support. It's good to know that i'm not the only one getting pissed off about it. Browny - i know that i had right of way, it was a rhetorical question used to destroy his 'right of way' theory. Second part - moanie answered it for me (thanks mate). R-32 Godzilla, yeah if im being tailgated i sure as hell won't speed up that's for sure. My old man also believes that i should drive slow for the extra inconvieniece. Mum dosn't like it when i slow down.. she tells me to 'stop being silly'. I don't think it's that silly, i believe that if a tailgater has the right to drive that dangerously close, i have the right to become a pain in the ass. Superspit- ill look out for ya mate - for the last couple years there used to always be this white r33 parked in a driveway on Fonteyn Dr, i look out for it every time i go there (highlight of my trip lol) but i haven't seen it for a while... keep postin your stories, they are good to read (loved yours Jae_s15).
  6. oh yea... don't forget to click on the top nissan sites link up there ^^^^^ leads to some good info
  7. I know that this dosn't apply to you guys at SAU, but I really need to get this off my chest. I am an L plater, Ive been driving an astra (2003, manual) for about 9 months now and a Commodore VX S (supercharged, auto) for one month. I have had roughly just under 100hours of driving expierience in a wide range of different conditions. I get the feeling that some people (not the people of SAU, not implying that in any way) stereotype L platers similar to the way that P platers are stereotyped. I think the stereotypical image of an L plater would be: driving too slow, stalling, irrational, dangerous etc... This may be true to some extent. I think that everybody makes mistakes during their lives on the roads - probably more often when learning. I've done some stupid things before but I have made sure that I learnt from them. But as a car enthusiast myself, I am always conscience about what I am doing in terms of everything. People around me, gear changes, RPM, speed.. ect. Where i'm heading with this? I think that some people have a different set of rules to how they behave around and treat L platers (in a bad way). This isn't neccesarily bad... drivers might need to give L platers a little more space or room for error or be a bit more patient if the car stalls ect.... What I'm talking about and getting totally pissed off and engraged about is people tailgating me, people pulling out in front of me, impatient people beeping their horns at me. I know that this happens to everybody but it happens to me a helluvalot more that it does to my parents and oldersister. The tailgating: Almost everyday i'll be driving to school and i can guarentee you that some f***head is right up my ass. I live out in the sticks and the road to school is full of turns (very hard to overtake) I'm driving at the speedlimit and whats approapriate around corners ect.. (usually no slower then any other driver). When I used to drive 20k's under the speedlimit then I would pull over and let cars through (I can understand peoples frustrations at me driving slow) but now I am driving at the speedlimit, people are up my ass and i don't see that I should feel obligated to pull over or break the law in speeding up. I think with tailgating it's either two things that person up my ass has in thier head: "L plates. Therefore MUST be driving slow (regardless of looking at actual speed)" or 2: an intimidation tactic. Sometimes my L plates will fall off the back windscreen and I notice that I don't seem to have this assriding problem at all. I find that people will pull out in front of me at unsafe distances or roundabouts and other intersections without traffic lights. Why? Either they are stupid enough to do this to everybody OR they see the yellow square with the black 'L' and think "I don't wanna get stuck behind the slow driver" and think that it's worth pushing the limits a little, to save yourself a couple of seconds. I think you'll find a similar metality with trucks (except you have to be REALLY stupid to pull out in front of a truck to save a bit of time). Today: Here's what happened: I was driving down Cathies lane in wantirna(ish) (going to granparents house)(Victoria). I approached the roundabout as normal. I remeber loooking at the triangular sign with the roundabout on it. I see a blue falcon ute approaching the roundabout. Think of it like this: I was travelling north, and he was travelling from west to east (I therefore have right of way). Just before I hit the horizontal line(to enter the roundabout). I make eye contact with the driver. I've seen him he's seen me (and the L plates). By time the front wheels of my car has crossed that line (to enter the roundabout) he's pulled out in front of me. I broke hard and hit the horn at the same time. I didn't hit him. Usually when you see this sort of stuff happen the person stops from the initial shock, and then keeps on going. I'm expecting him to keep on driving but he just stays there. I am like WTF is this bloke doing? Then he gets out of the car and starts walking to me (there is also a whole shit load of traffic behind me). Instantly I start thinking of what I have done wrong?, and by the time he reaches my car, I have confirmed that I was in the right and he shouldn't have pulled out. First thing the bastard says to me: " You see that sign behind you? It's a give way sign." At this point i'm remembering the triangular roundabout sign that I saw but I didn't wanna get rolled (and was being intimidated by this bloke) so I said nothing. Then he said: "If a car pulls out on a roundabout he has right of way"(in otherwords if im heading north and he is heading east, then he has right of way) I agrued back: "It's a roundabout, you give way to your right" Then he shouted at me: "That rule went out 2 years ago". I'm thinking WTF..... Then mum starts backing me up and they start arguing... I told mum to be quiet then I said to him :"fine, let's just get on with this, i'm sorry". Then he walks away tellming me that "i need to check my license" That was that. On the way home I checked the sign to clarify for myself and it was a bloody roundabout sign. Just to clarify again i did checked my L's roadbook with all the basic road laws. It dosn't exactly say straight you give way to your right but thats what it implies. Take a look at the attachement. The book states that you have to give way to vechiles that are already on the roundabout. If you look at the diagram then what he said makes absouloutly no sense. (im heading north and he's heading east) Does that mean that I should go halfway around the roundabout stop the car to let him in? that would defeat the point of a roundabout! And if as the law states that he was on the roundabout first then our paths don't cross, i would just end up behind him as usual. Now let's say that i hadn't yet entered the roundabout, it wouldn't be so bad if it was one of those huge 2 or 3 lane roundabouts where you have plenty of room to slow down but it was one of those tiny ones. (if you live around that area then you probably know what I am talking about). So thats his theory totally rooted. I half to say that after that I was totally and completely pissed off. When I was talking to dad about it 15 minutes after it happened he said that I shouldn't have hit the horn so that I don't cause road rage. I still don't know if I should have hit the horn or not.. what do you guys think? I know that most ppl hate L platers honking their horns at them regardless of wheather they are doing the right thing or not... But people do it so much to me... and this is what made me start this thread. I have had an abousloute gutfull with a small minority of people who think that they can look down on L platers or give them a hard time. People can beep at me as much as they won't if stall doing a hill start, but if i beep at someone for actually doing something wrong it's the end of the world? This different attitude given out just because I have a Yelllow plate with a Black L stuck on the windscreens. I know that P platers have to put up with similar kind of crap in a different way, and it hasn't been too long since you guys had your L's as well, so you probably know how I'm feeling. If your stilll reading this then thanks for reading.. sorry to bitch and blab, but i needed to get it off my chest and to have it written down so that i could help to clear things up in my head. Did everybody else encouneter this kind of crap when they had their L's?
  8. excellent. just what i needed. thanks dude, i know i won't be voting for labour... when's the next state election anyway?
  9. sorry pentae - i didn't mean to 'imply' that prestige was doing something dodgy, and i wasn't bagging geoff at all I just didn't understand, i didn't mean to be offensive or put any Prestige on the line in any way. I've only heard good things about prestige and like i said couldn't work it out. I'll most likely import through Geoff next year as well.
  10. im not baggin geoff or his business rep- thats not what i was saying, i just didn't understand. Ill probably import through prestige myself... jeezzz
  11. i don't really think that there is one good source (not that i know of anyway) that can tell you everything that you need to know... Just do a forum search for the specific info that your looking for and if you can't find it or there is conflicting information bring it up again (or look harder). Meggala's site has some top info on skyline basics even though it is a little hard to read... www.meggala.com
  12. check out this 32 gtr from prestige... as i don't know how to sub in the link from prestige without looking at it and writing it... just got to available stock, there should be a 1989, skyline 32gtr, 117,000ks, 5-speed, grey, $20,900 and it came out on the 13th, prd ID:2640. under the condition section it states that the car is missing an airconditioning vent AND they give a picture clearly showing the missing aircon vent. Scroll down to the bottom and what is the very last picture? A picture showing the interior of the car with no missing air vent!! What the!? Is prestige doing something dodgy? I think it's the same car if you look at the interior in the 2 phots - same gauges. The lighting conditions are the same, and there is rain on the windscreen. I just can't work this one out... can anybody explain??
  13. what do you mean by 'has made it'? Did he actually change the law? Ive told this to friends and family and i keep getting pushed back with crap like " you should't believe everything you hear" and "You should be more skeptical"... and "how can that be possible?, this is a democratic society" so on and so forth. I NSANT - i believe what your saying and i hope that i haven't written this in an offensive way because im not trying to be aggressive but do you have any more details on this bracks thing? I'd love to prove everybody wrong.
  14. hahahah you should go to meggala's site... lots of good info but impossible to read
  15. bastards... you should report the cops, they must be used to having to compensate from police officers carlessness??? i dunno. it just pisses me off that shit like that happens.. feelin for ya dude.
  16. i thought that 8litres sound a bit too much as well. But if the manual says that, then i guess theres no arguing. I do PT work at a motor mechanic. It's been a while since i've flushed out the cooling system but i think that we drained from the block, then took the hoses off and flushed out with tap water.
  17. I'd take the stock, because i don't want to miss the experience of modding youself and slowly feeling your car perform differently. I think that's part of the fun in buying an import I think that i would appreciate it more as well. Just make sure your importing under the 15yr rule, otherwise youll be in for the big $$ when it comes to compliance time.
  18. how much are neon kits btw? (not including installation) i know they come in different sizes etc but roughly how much.... I'm a fan of neons, but i wouldn't spend much money on them when i could be spending that money on something that improves the performance of my car...
  19. the new 'alloytech' V6 engine. :headbang: Well alloytech isn't as bad as extreeme but i thought i might just bring up the fact that holden had a seperate marketing campaign for the new V6! Don't quote me on this, but didn't they start advertising the engine before the VZ series was even released? I've never seen anybody commercially advertise a standalone engine before. I guess its been since holden were using that same pushrod-cam engine since 1988 (i think) and they want EVERYONE to know about it.
  20. really now? So its entirely mr policemans call?.. bummer. So if you have a bad run with the cop he can defect you for nothing ?... i wonder if anybody has thought that they were been defected on inapproapriate grounds or something and taken it to court to get sorted?
  21. SS8_Gohan - yep couldn't agree with that more. People how don't wanna drive HP cars don't have to spend the extra $$ for the privilage. Im gonna do a defensive driving course before i get the 'line...
  22. hehe maybe ill write to vicroads, get written proof from vicroads that neons are legal (taking into acount all the regulations above), and then carry that proof with me, so if a cop trys to defect me.... bam. that would probably piss the cop off more and he'll try real hard to get me on something else lol... maybe not such a good idea
  23. dineath - the power restriction is 125kw per TONNE.. so if u have a 2 tonne car, and ur on your p's then your legally alowed to have 250kw's.... the r32gtst is just under by a bee's dick (.25 or somthein) but the 33 isn't. But because they are imports.... in certain places around police are educated (knox) and have been quite succesful in defect the crap out of import cars and throwing the full extent of the power/weight ratio at anybody who breaks it (wheather on or off the list)... and the thing about HP cars on L's... driving on your L's is safer than your P's. Statistically L platers don't have many accidents at all especially when you compare it to P platers, even though P platers have more driving expieriece and better skills. I guess thats why L platers are still alowed to drive performance cars. But there are some exceptions, i've heard all different acounts of parents being total dickheads in teaching their kids to drive, this guy i know: his dad made him drive a car (on his L's) at 150km at nightime down a really windy road to see if he could 'take it'. 150k's might not seem that fast for a lot of you but to push a 16yr old with limited expierience way out of their comfort zone is asking for serious trouble.
  24. azron - just to confirm.... neons are LEGAL is they are not red white or flashing? (in victoria) vicroads actually said that? thats the first time i have heard anything like that. i thought they were illegal full stop.
  25. i don't even own a 'line either. balls. if i don't get off this goddamn forum and study im not gonna get the enter score i need for the uni course which will lead to a high paying which leads to awsome cars/mods..... its so obsesive.. geno8r - dude i think myself to sleep as well. Cept i think about how i will go about importing, how much money i needa save, going over the list of things to check for, the list of things to do when the car arrives, the list of mods to add to the car when it's on the road. hahahah it never ends!!!
