  1. Hi Everyone,

I was told on my last tune that my oil pump was starting to get a bit lazy at idle, its fine when it's got some revs behind it. What are my options here, I was told to try run a thicker oil or is it worth investing in a genuine/aftermarket oil pump? What are some good oil pumps to suit an RB25DET NEO?

    Current car stats: 1998 R34 GTT 300hp on 13psi

  2. Hey Stao,

Finally got around to fitting a 21U highflow i bought off you half a year ago as the gt2871rs finally died from track abuse lol.

Couldn't be happier with performance. Similar (and i think slightly better) response than a gt2871rs but much stronger mid and top end when on hi boost.

Final figures were 21psi for 305rwkw track friendly tune, wastegate pressure gave 270rwkw which was around 18-19psi.

Tuner mentioned he was very surprised by the turbo and impressed with the smoothness/power delivery.

I'd offer dyno printout but we tuned it on crap road tires and high boost just ended up wheelspinning on the dyno haha, causing a really jagged powerline.

Will also mention power comes on much more progressive than my old turbo, so much so that even at high boost, my car grips 2nd with no fuss and this is all on a circuit setup so camber, toe, stiffer springs/dampers etc.

    Thank you :)

This makes me really keen to install my 21u highflow I just got :)

  3. Larger manifold/runners would reduce exhaust velocity/pressure. Good for high hp, not so much for response.

I'm now starting to consider the HyperGear 21U highflow as an option. I had the OP6 highflow previously and it was lacking slightly in response. Maybe the 21U will be a sweet middle ground.

This is 100% correct the OP6 highflow will cause a fair bit of lag, I myself just got a 21U highflow and am taking out my OP6 highflow as i want response. You will only lose about 10rwkw of top end power. Another member on here helped me make my mind up he said he had owned a skyline with a OP6 highflow and one with a 21U, on a dyno the OP6 made more power but on the street the 21U felt alot faster. Will have more info once I get mine installed and retuned :)

  4. The best P plate car is not the one with the most power, so that you can introduce the rear of it to every gutter and front yard of every home in your street; as you live out your initial D fantasies, with your lowest common denominator skillset.

The best P plate car is the one that allows you to get off your P's with your license intact, you and your mates all still alive, and with the bare minimum of accidents due to aforementioned lack of skills.

Get something cheap, light, moderately powered and fun to drive, then spend some money actually LEARNING how to drive properly on track, so that you can make the most of a decent car; once you have matured a little and learned how to properly assess and manage risk, and the pressure of your peers.

You don't want the first mistake you make (and I promise, you will), to be your last.

I agree with the above I had an impreza on my p's and then a ke70 for my final year of my p's and then on my opens I bought my skyline. When you first get your license you do stupid things every one does.
