  1. I do ok financially... if I was smart I would have saved when I was younger but I'm not over the hill yet I plan on budgeting around $30k loan for my R32 GTR, which I figure to be a reasonable purchase. I also plan saving for a house as I pay that off. The R32 I plan on keeping for awhile so I don't mind spending a bit of money grooming it up and doing mods on it. I plan on getting into real estate investment and once I get a few properties behind me, I plan on refinancing and just paying for a new car outright. - J.
  2. Which is why it pays to keep a gun under the front seat. "The fact that your bar has "clublock" written down the side, and mine has "Desert Eagle .50" written along the side of mine should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence. Now, **** off." - J.
  3. I'll have about 30gs. What should I look out for and what should I be looked at replacing? - J.
  4. Ok, well assuming I want a 4WD.... should I stick for the R32 or R33? Bearing in mind it's a daily driver too. - J.
  5. One step ahead of ya Accountant said that from a tax perspective it doesn't make sense unless I am looking at buying a car that I would normally not be able to get financing on or would be driving for ages. Don't forget I'll have to pay FBT ontop of the leasing costs + insurance. Also I wouldn't be driving it a lot either, so I wind up paying MORE in FBT. - J.
  6. Never owned a 4WD - which is why I'm keen to do so. - J.
  7. I can do a novated lease as part of my package through work, so conceivably I could do it that way. Which means the lease is paid for with pretax dollars and lowers my tax bracket. They prefer I go through a dealer although I can find a car privately. Only issue is I think there are certain safety requirements for it to be classified as a work car (e.g. dual side airbags, etc). I was originally just gonna take out a loan for $30k, thinking that'd still get me an R32/R33 GTR or a Silvia. Do it that way and not have it break the bank. If I can do it through the novated leasing... mmm... - J.
  8. I mean I could even possible swing an R33 GTR but they're just everywhere and I don't like the fact it's the heaviest of the GTRs.... - J.
  9. Likewise, if someone isn't comfortable posting here, please PM as I' d genuinely want to know. - J.
  10. Or it could be bodykits and badges which would make more sense when you think about it... hehehe.... *shrug* I'm not that keen an observer to be honest. - J.
  11. I'm facing a similar dilemma. I'll have *about* 30g to play around with and I am considering an R32 GTR and using the spare cash to drop in a nice stereo system and keep around for stuff to fix, or alternatively go for an S15 Silvia Spec R (or maybe a Supra?). I'm not looking at modding it yet but I may want to down the line. Here's the way I see it: R32 GTR Pros: AWD, lots of power, lots of room for modding, fan-****ing-tastic car. Cons: Older car (stuff will start breaking), looks a little dated, no CD player with stock standard so I will need to fork out money to get a stereo. S15 Pros: Much newer car, nice shape, good alround car, has a stereo, responds well to mods if I decide to go that route. Cons: RWD, nowhere near as much grunt as R32 or Supra. Supra/R33 GTR (lumping them together due to price) Pros: Around same price range. Both newer than R32. Cons: R33 is not as kewl as an R32 or 34 - not unique. Don't like Supra look compared to Nissans. It would be for a daily driver but I'd like it to have a bit of grunt off the line as well, and have a good stereo. S15s are probably the most sensible choice being a newer car and never really been into mods and so forth, but I think if I got an R32 imported, the money I save from that 30k I could hang onto until stuff broke or replaced as required and still have plenty for stereo, immobiliser, etc. Or if I really wanted, touch up the body and interior a bit. I dunno... I'm confused, they're all good. Any thoughts? I think the big decider is what I can expect to go wrong with any of the cars? I mean common mechanical faults, etc. - J.
  12. No a rude question would be asking someone how much they make per year. I'm not asking specifics, only general info. - J.
  13. Howdy all, First post here... I'm planning on getting a Skyline soon. Most likely an R32 GTR but I'm curious, I see a lot of people cruising around in R34 GTRs these days. These things don't go on trees and I know that most of these people aren't making bank either so I'm wondering (for all you R34 GTR owners) how do you afford yours? Did you get a loan for an insane amount of time? Save first? Mortgage yourself to the hilt? Get a second job? Just curious. Cheers - J.
