  1. looks good smile.gif I'll have to have a think about what I want to do! there is a good satisfaction I suppose when you do it yourself! :cheers:I know there is some pretty good instructions on how to do it on here.. using those magic bar things after the washhave attached an rtf document a made when I copied the instructions off one of the posts long ago biggrin.gifattachicon.gifCar Care.rtf

Nice instructions for car detailing... I'm off to Supercheap Auto :)

  2. My car came with one of these when I bought it. Personally, I am not sure how exactly it's wired in, but my mirrors do not automatically fold in when the car is locked - not a massive issue as you can fold the mirrors in manually with a flick of a switch.

Does anyone know if this would be considered an Australian standard of immobilizers? If not, I'd need to change it in order to comply with my insurance too :\

If you yank all the wires out does the car start?

I've seen plenty of cheap made in Vachina style alarms that when loom is yanked out the car can easily be started, which is ridiculous.

Best is to find out exactly how the immobilisers work.

My last alarm was quite cheap, but the way the immobilisers worked, even if they yanked the box out, the car still couldn't be started.

A mate installed it for me so knew which cheap alarms were good.

End of the day it is just a deterrent, a big flashing alarm led is a good start.

  3. Yeah you very lucky, maybe they got spooked.

Ok, no transponder chip makes sense now. Easy to break into a car with no alarm unfortunately. Amateurs break stuff, pros do it quick and tidy.

Could be just a training day for someone?

Yeah, seriously any car you love, arm it to the teeth.

I've fitted hidden magnetic immobilisers to my cars, try to get a trustworthy guy to install a good alarm and hide the box well enough that it takes a crook longer than 30 seconds to find it.

30 seconds is the golden half minute, if it takes longer, most smart crimes will beat the feet out of there of try another car with no flashing alarm led light :)

Lots of cool forums on hidden immobiliser switches, imagination is all it takes and NEVER TELL ANYONE :)

Even make a man trap with amperage through the seat via a coil and small spring :) just need a warning sticker " man trap active "

Burn some arse..may as well :)

  4. How are they able to steal one of these without the key coder?

We need to find out how they do it, so we can fully protect our cars from the same, is there a scanner out there they are using?

What can I do to protect my car against this, run an additional 2 immobilisers on a separate alarm system?

  5. If you read from the beginning of the thread you will come accross the link for autostyle, and there is a pic of a black one there.

I have read from the beginning and those linked are not the full length to the rear window, they are the short ones, which don't look nice IMO.

The only full length ones I have seen the link to were from drive2.ru a Russian website.

  6. OH! Welcome to the Axis S club aswell, good to have another around :D.

Cheers, yes the PNM35 Axis 350S seemed the better car with improved interior and lower fuel /100km usage.

I have been eyeing up a set of Cosco sway bars and an interior bar but will see if the ride actually requires any " safety " bolt on parts before I get too carried away.

I think that would be my limit, sway bars and a bit of business sign writing on the back window.

( cough cough ) ... Maybe the factory nav system with English conversion.

Not sure what's available in NZ yet and getting around the Japanese yahoo auctions is a nightmare. :)

  7. I have driven one. Late model 2005

The diesel version is the best if you can find it. So cheap to run and bullet proof engine.

The suspension and handling is very comfortable, I would rate it better than the Stagea wagon.

Autech make a sweet looking Elgrand, comes with all the usual Autech bells and whistles.

My mate had to buy a new work van, he went with the Elgrand and pushed all the seats to the side and forward ( as they are designed for ) and he could get a motorcycle in the back of it.

Very reliable , the petrol versions are grunty but older petrol engines are thirsty same as early Stagea so try to get the more modern versions if you go for petrol.

They are a very popular vehicle and this is why the price is quite high for a good one.

I rate them highly, I went with the Stagea Autech Axis in the end, just for the looks of wagon Vs van

  8. Couple of things I don't agree with. :D

If you're ganna get cut about the resale of yo modified car doesn't that defeat the whole modifying purpose in the first place? When I buy shit for the car I don't think "fu*k, this is going to fu*k my resale value to all fu*k and beyond."

I also don't agree with the "good resale" part... Good resale to me is a profit, property normally has good resale not cars.

I modify my car for personal gain, as in learning something and my own limits of what I can do. To me my car brings value to me in terms of enjoyment, I enjoy seeing it become something else that I've done or achieved with the car.

I only ever start thinking about the " oh fu€k " when I go to resell, end up losing money and wish I had more money to spend on my next vehicle. Lack of funds = missed opportunity.

Good resale is not losing crap loads of money, you don't need to make a profit. If I broke even at a point of sale, then I was happy.

Most of the time with modified vehicles, I ended up spending lots of money, investing lots of time, stuck with a highly modified old car by the time I got bored with it. People were reluctant to buy because they don't know what kind of "can of worms" it was and for the same asking price, could purchase a newer more modern car that had superior design and engine qualities stock standard.

I guess I just got tired of always being broke.

  9. Nz engineers report, certification, teething problems etc.

I've always driven manuals, current work vehicle is a 6 speed, totally over it. Can't wait for the auto wagon to arrive.

Gone for me are the days of spending thousands of dollars to modify some shit box I purchased, only to sell it later and lose money.

Save the cash, buy the vehicle you really want that doesn't require a gas axe, maybe get a few bolt ons.

The vehicle will have a good resale value cause it has not been modified.

  10. The Stagea 350s came in a 6 speed manual, it was an Autech version. I reckon if you could get that in your VQ25DET it would be sweet....if you can get it in.......if it is suitable....if it was cheap enough ...so many if's

    Jules

Yes, I watched one of the Autech 6 speeds at Japanese auction house with 70,000k's sell for $12,000 nzd. 3 times more than standard M35 and auto Axis models. They only come in a 2.5L engine I thought with the 6 speed.

  11. With the closure of the Australian car production plants, you Aussies must be in for a significant increase in Japanese car imports?

In New Zealand , car imports has been a great opportunity for new, modern, cheap cars.

Australian import laws ATM seem quite cumbersome, so I figured the Australian government will be streamlining the whole process as the demand for cars increases.

    What's in the pipeline?

Will Australian car prices be compatible to the current lower priced NZ market?

Will it become easier/cheaper for the average Aussie punter to score a deal on the Japanese auction houses?

  12. Is there a system available for the c34 that can do the same?

Not sure, all the searches on Japanese Yahoo auctions searches came up for M35.

There are a few guys that can do the language conversion software, and the units are worth nothing in Japan, basically throw away $40 nzd. I guess it must link info from diagnostic software/on board computer to the nav screen?

  13. Yeah spotted that the other day.

He is dreaming about getting $6K for a car that can not be complied.

Reckon you could land one here from Japan for about $4K.

    Auction Price is about $2,000 - $2,500

    Cheers

    I just scored a grade 4 2005 , 3.5L black 4WD Axis S PNM35 shape for $4300 nzd from Japanese auctions.

Total cost complied should be $10k all up
