  1. Haha :-) I don't understand the euphoria that soarers don't handle... Like any car, coilovers, swaybars and you're all set stock soarer suspension is soft and luxurious obviously but yeah, to say they don't handle well aka "like a boat" is a bit far :-p
  2. Kristian is the god. Kristian is to importing cars, what it's a knockout was for 1990s TV But he did steal Christmas one time.
  3. :-O oh no not Kristian from IRON CHEF!!!!! Everybody KNOWS he stole Christmas!!!!
  4. I also think jzx90 is a forgotten classic, ugly lines, swooping body...look great all at the same time
  5. My opinion: 10 grand will get you a skyline I think however it won't get you into a soarer that is worth loving. 10 grand will easilly get you a series one twin turbo but of you're chasing a series 3 elec seat update interior update engine update body type then 10k won't be enough, Same will go for skylines, Like 91 models etc fine... But you won't get a 99 skyline or a 99 soarer with that budget... Reason I say this is, you're new to imports, you haven't yet got the connects or the parts Hookups or the work arounds if things go wrong. And so for your first import car you will want it to be a good experience not a bitter one, best wAy to get a good experience is buy right the first time, Increase your budget slightly and you will save the money on repairs in the long run. Not to mention picking up a less tired interior and newer seats etc I know you're probably looking into "punk" kaido imports like skyline soarer Silvia etc, But also don't be afraid to look into Lexus IS200 aka Toyota Altezza, they're ridiculously cheap now and with a nice detail (done by me) can really look the part with some nice wheels Happy hunting !!
  6. Andrew - am saving up to import again, I have not purchased the car yet obviously, but yes... In about a year or so time I will have a crown majesta.. And haha, eps... Why do you have that name that's gonna get so confusing haha But it's true though. The only people that buy Lexus are Chinese or rich Vietnamese. And Jewish people, And they seem to REALLY drive them. A LOT. That's not racism. It's just fact. Oh and Indonesians love the third gen GS and the RX too. Haha
  7. And it's exactly as dope as it sounds. Haha But yeah, I *could* buy a 2003 - 2005 Lexus LS - I actually was going to get one, but why the hell would I buy a Lexus? 270,000km owned by Qoc Nguoc Phan Tran who services it at a backyard Gull servo mechanic Fuuuck that. That's why I'm getting the uzs171 crown majesta test car, it makes much more sense, Japanese service their cars properly and garage them You should see my friends 1987 chaser Steve, you'll go nuts!!
  8. ^^^ this old "shame on Nissan" argument is something I've also never agreed with I would rather spend three months waiting for an imported car and have to get kicked beaten and punched by authorities for importing a car.. I would rather THAT and get the car of my dreams from japan than buy a 250,000km sunfaded paint brown grungy headlights car that's got three or five year old tyres on it.. Skyline is what, 1999??? You find me a 1999 car in Australia that you'd actually wanna pay money for. Hell no. I've only ever bought one car in aust, that's my daihatsu open top Mira. It's dope. And has 100,000km on the dash
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA :-p Way I see the auto / manual debate is: Nissan skyline would suit a manual, granted... But everyone always says "why isn't your car manual" Realistically... Leather Cruise control Animated dash Elec seats Elec sunroof Elec / luxury everything... Doesn't really suit a manual, Personally I prefer auto I guess cos I'm grown up and I dont feel the need to say "the only way to drive is manual"
  10. Lol seen mine? It's hideous.
  11. Excellent buy there linden!!! That's excellent value for under 9 grand Although I would never call a Nissan immaculate THE TURBO AND THE BATTERY ARE ALL ON THE WRONG SIDE!!!! Hahaha (Toyota defect here)
  12. Hmm, yes and no - ER34 are not highly sought after, But black ones, with wheels and mods... Are a bit sought after, but never know!! You might get lucky
  13. Put it this way, in the import market... A 10 grand total budget will likely yield you quite a good black coloured ER34 with a lot of fruit on board like wheels etc.... And more than likely depending on the exchange rate at the time, will PRObably get you change back from the transaction ... But either way... Importing an ER34 into WA is feasible because the market here is so inflated for them... So it actually makes sense. Personally I'd get a Toyota because I think they're built much better.. My other piece of advice? Stay away from WA compliance shops. I hear good things about a particular shop that's on here that DOES lurk these forums and that shop IS good however stay the hell away from that yellow shop with the kangaroo in overalls on the logo. That guy is a prick. A grey haired... Greedy .. Lieing... Prick.
  14. Basically all a bank can generally offer is a higher interest rate unsecured personal loan, however that been said, save as hard as you can.. Less money lent, is less interest you pay... When importing a ER34 they aren't expensive so saving should be a bit of a cakewalk really.. Don't be afraid to shop around and use a broker you can trust Ironchefimports Importmonster Jspec Direct imported (hopefully he's not still angry with me) Are just to name a few - they're all very capable .. Hardworking and willing But yeah, generally speaking, a bank will not "give you" a car loan on a car they cannot seize - unless of course... youre willing to pay credit card interest on a 10 grand loan
  15. Steve - do not loan money For an import, ever... At least not through a bank... Talk to either kristian from iron chef, or Ben from j-spec they may know a broker with whom they deal with on repeat referral etc. However a bank needs to loan money AGAINST something, ie: something they can take if you default on your payments, For instance Car loan = car. No payment? Seize car. Home loan = house. No payment? Seize house. Bank will not provide a car loan for a car that is in Japan that they cannot seize.
  16. Yeah man last week i picked up a daihatsu Mira open top for $1300 and a pair of Nikes Not joking Try gumtree
  17. Yeah they are gonna be one to watch I reckon. Nobody liked the uzz40 except a select few people Nobody bought them as a result. This has kept the value very high, however it's also kept the sales low. They will be one to watch in coming years i reckon cos nobody buys them in the second hand market, as a result the value will plummet in coming years as second owners get desperate to sell their uzz40 First owners wil never be desperate I reckon. Cos they paid full price haha Another fascinating value dropper is the mitsu ralliart colt. Their resale is jack shit
  18. It's an auto! It's turbo! It's in a workshop in crawley! It's for sale! It's silver! It's 14 grand! Tell him he's dreaming!
  19. Rofloflofloflofloflof They're everywhere in WA man I'm using one as a drink tray ask I write this
  20. Get a y34 cima. There isn't any point importing a r34 sedan they're so cheap and common now Y34 cima would be the cheaper option
  21. Well, not everyone has positive experiences with everyone. I'm not getting into that myself .. Personally I'd never buy from an import dealer PERIOD because I know what I know, but again, I won't disclose details to protect sau's defamation rules (protect dodgy people rule) But yeah. Chek it out. If you suspect that the car hasnt done 32,000 / 47,000 km Then chances are - it fkn hasn't Protip: don't ever let anybody tell you that Japanese wind km back. They don't. It's the aussies
