  1. i took this from this link Cheaply Monitoring Air/Fuel Ratios. i'm building the jaycar air/fuel mixture kit at the moemtn and the instructions that come with it have a fantastic explaination of the air/fuel mixture gauge. All unleaded petrol cars use an exhaust gas oxygen sensor. As the name suggests, this sensor is mounted in the exhaust flow - usually in the exhaust manifold - and sniffs the composition of the exhaust gas. Specifically, it measures the ratio of oxygen in the exhaust gas with that in the atmosphere. It does this is to determine whether the air/fuel ratio is rich, stoichiometric, or lean. The ECU uses this information as part of its self-learning technique, . . . The most commonly used sensor generates its own voltage output, which varies between 0-1 volt. In round terms, if the sensor output is about 0.2 volts or less the mixture is lean, and if the output voltage is over 0.8 volts it is rich. However, the precise value of the output voltage is less important than its relative value - whether it is "richer" or "leaner" than the mid-point voltage. The ECU constantly adjusts the mixture depending on the driving conditions. ie. if you are accelerating, you require more fuel in the mixture so the ECU tells the injectors to inject more fuel and resulting in a richer mix. if you're backing off, its just the opposite. hope this helps
  2. i tried adjusting my headlights tonight, but no matter how much i turned (what i thought was) the adjustment mechanism, there was no noticable difference. just to check, the adjusters are the hex/phillips bolts attached to the back side of the headlight assembly? outside one facing back into the engine bay, insided one facing vertical, correct???? anyone got any ideas? i'm thinking the mechanism might be damaged somehow.
  3. any new info on this thread guys? i know i'd be interested if it happened.

  7. that's true. my local nissan dealer (ferntree gully) deals in import parts which completely surprised me. however, i think a new headlight assembly would be big $$$. might be worth asking tho.
  8. i found this thread on the subject guys. not glass but awesome just the same http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/lo...hp/t110802.html tell me you wouldn't get a set for $400!!!
  9. can anyone tell me if the where one might find a set of these glass headlights for the R33? i'm sure we're all in the same boat with the discolouration of the plastic headlights on the R33. are they an aftermarket thing? or are they from the S2? if so, do they fit a S1? all info appreciated. *updated* actually, i've just found out that apparently the series 3 GTR had a glass headlight assembly. does anyone know more info on this?
  10. sorry guys. i got my wires crossed (pun completely intended). thicker cable does = less resistance. what kind of batteries do others use and where did u get them? regular sales points like beaurepairs and the like don't seem to know much about the skyline's battery. One guy put a regular lead acid battery in it instead of the sealed lead acid type and the thing leaked all in my boot!!! thankfully i fixed that really quick.
  11. i think i'm going to take the answer to the original question as a resounding "no".
  12. it has been a little bit of a problem for me. if i dont' drive a lot for a couple of weeks, the car does have a bit of trouble starting , but my battery is only about 18 months old and still holds a good charge so that's not my problem. It is a basic rule of electronics that the longer and thicker the cable/wire coming from a battery, the higher resistance there is,and the higher the resistance, the more voltage is lost through that cable. And obviously the more voltage you lose, the less effective the starter motor will be to crank the engine into life. So instead of you being able to lose say 2 Volts of charge from your battery and still being able to start the car, with the battery so far away you may only be able to lose 1 Volt of charge. Obviously, the more you have hanging off the battery, the more drain you'll get. It's not a huge problem for me, but it does say something that 99% of cars have the battery under the bonnet within a meter of the starter. Obviously it's not sounding like anyone considers this mod worthwhile
  13. lol. yeah, sure. if you're happy going from a R32GTR to a R33 GTS. works for me.
  14. what is the reason for it being in the boot??
  15. 'cause it's got to be the worst possible place to put a battery. not only do you lose valuable space in the already small boot, but you get a significant voltage loss through the cable that runs from one end of the car to the other, meaning that any problems with the charge in the battery is magnifyed.
  16. has anyone successfully moved their R33's battery fromt the boot to under the bonnet? I'd like to do this but reckon it might be a bit too much work. cheers guys
  17. Has anyone successfully converted their R33 to put the battery up front, under the bonnet? I'd like to get it out of the boot, but i reckon it'll be too much work. cheers guys
  18. wanting to get my hands on an R33 snorkel. can anyone help?
  19. i have no idea how it happened. i definatly don't take speed bumps fast. i can't stand my car hitting or scraping anything. i woke up this morning searching back through my memory to what could have caused it and the only thing i can think of is . . . a year or so ago i was driving home from work on a fairly dark stretch of road and i heard and felt a reallly loud bang/bump under the car in just about that exact position. i had a look when i got home but couldn't see anything obvious (i only noticed this time 'cause i had the car up on stands and was further under it). i'm guessing there was something pretty solid on the road that i didn't see which i caught under the tyre and flung it up in a way that caused it to rip this big freakin hole. although, the more i look at it, it looks like it couldn't have happened with the car driving forwards. it almost looks like the tear happened from the back to the front . . . . i might drop by the panel beater's today and see what they say.
  20. it's amazing the places one will put themselves to get the right picture isn't it
  21. i just found something very disturbing under my car. i have a huge tear in the chassis, almost directly under the drivers seat. i think it's in a channel where some wiring travels under the car from back to the front. i'm hoping that it's only going to need to be smashed back into place and welded, but any thoughts would be great.
  22. where did u get the handbrake piece from? i've been looking everywhere for something suitable. nice job all round btw
  23. SKY000, i saw you driving down the Monash last week. nice ride. i think more skyline drivers should give the thumbs up to each other. just because.
