  1. LOL A super drag gearbox that has good road manners that's kind of what I'm aiming for long term, I've a friend (Just the one!) with an auto too he was having his mapped today its a bit of a madman build, running 1.5 bar and also says he needs a TC but hasn't got a clue where to look for one. How much was normal road driving changed by having the higher stall TC fitted? $1600 for a TC that's a tidy sum of money.
  2. Hi all,, Thanks for your input with the trans she's still holding up and will hopefully still do when she go's on the dyno for mapping in a couple of weeks time. Being a bit of a drag head and loving the quarter mile I was thinking that if my box does give up sooner rather than later and has to be replaced then it would make perfect sense to me to install an uprated higher stall TC whilst the box is out. Thing is I'm not entirely sure where I'd find one for my Spec 2 r33 gtst, there doesn't seem to be anyone that can shed light on this over here so once again I am here with cap in hand asking for info. I think the stock TC stalls at around 1400 so I was thinking I maybe want something around the 2500 mark? something I could still use on the roads getting to and from the strip with the odd day out here and there but with a slightly higher stall so I just get that better launch at the strip. Can I just buy any old TC and slap it in? I think not, so is there anywhere that will convert a stock one or has anyone got one kicking around in their workshop they can sell me? I understand it will be a bit more of a pig to drive but the MV shift kit feels like a kid kicking the back of your seat when it changes at low speed so comfort is already lost. Any suggestions (other than put a manual box in it), help and guidance always welcomed. Thanks
  3. So I put another almost two litres in today bit by bit, box seems fine, got it up to temperature and gave it some beans, didn't slip and it's still going. Thanks for everyone's help :0)
  4. When the line popped I topped up with 3 litres, the trans came back to life, well it got me home driving gently. The fluid was around 20 miles old no more than that. Topped back up yesterday and tried the dipstick when it was warm and idling it was low, barely registering in fact, turned engine off waited five minutes for it to settle and it measuresd perfect for a hot engine. So it's a bit confusing, really want to get this sorted so I can take the car out and see if the box is damaged after what happened. thanks for everyone's input on this, much appreciated.
  5. Right, pulled my tranny cooler set up to pieces today and and repositioned it all. Just topping up the fluid and looking for answers on the net but there's nothing definite so... do I check the level with the engine idling cold? Or hot? or do I check the level with the engine off cold? Or hot? or all four?? Lol Sorry there's not many auto owners over here in the uk. Thanks guys.
  6. Yea I just took it nice and easy all the way, box seemed fine but I can't help but worry about it, push comes to shove I'll have to get another box beauty of that is nobody wants auto boxes so they're dead cheap. There was a couple on eBay one for £25 and another for £45 where as the manual boxes go for between £500 and £700 !! I'm relocating the oil cooler tonight to a more suitable position, then I'll get her out and see, fingers crossed......
  7. Thanks, did around 100km after. I've got the MV stage 2 quick shift kit, just worried how much life i've taken out of the clutch bands.
  8. Hello everyone I'm Paul from the uk. Been the proud owner of an r33 gtst spec 2 auto in sonic silver for 2.5 years now and i've been looking at upping power. Went to santa pod raceway this weekend to see what the car would do with some like minded owners sadly things didn't go to plan so to cut a long story short I was on my way home and suddenly lost drive, blipped it and the revs jumped up but the car didn't respond and just carried on doing the same speed. I coasted around 100M to where I could pull off the road, as I did I could smell burning Jumped out to find ATF down the side of the car and a split hose from my oil cooler, it was still running out. Managed to organise some ATF and bodge the hose by bypassing the cooler, drove home with tail between legs and took it very easy. My question is how much damage have i done? any? none? new box? the oil was still nice and red that was coming out but it did pong a bit. once topped up the box "seemed" fine but I didn't take her above 3k rpm. I'm going to hazard a guess and say I should take it out, get it into third and give it some therapy and see if it slips at all. Any other suggestions to tell? I'm truly gutted.
