  1. I'd like to see the 0-100 times if they weren't revd to 6k and slungshot off the line.

Bottom line - they feel very flat at low revs but are definately good cars if you get into it a bit.  They don't have the torque of a skyline though.

they're also missing 2 cylinders and half a litre of capacity.

They're apples and oranges really, better to compare the rex to a S13.

Whoever said rexes have short gears is on the take! They're pretty bloody high geared actually. The reason it won't pull from 60KPh in 4th is because it'll be around 1500RPM.

My mates WRX turns 2400RPM at 100 in 5th as opposed to my R32 which is almost at 3K at the same speed. I also know for a fact the RB20DET will not out accellerate a WRX at 60 in 4th as I've tried it.

If ever a car needs revs its the RB20..... :D

  2. On the same subject has anyone seen or used the AEM setup advertised in HPI occasionly? It has a plug for the ignitor to connect to and then it used leads like an ordinary setup. It claims superior performance to OEM coilpacks.

Anyone know the cost or had any experience with it? I imagine from the sounds of it the Bosch is a similar setup?

  3. You can boost 32s much more as they are the strongest turbo in the Skyline range.

Also there ECUs will run more boost (obviously running rich as all Nissans do) :)

    Go the 32s lol

Is this a fact or just a guess? :) Don't forget they're also the oldest....

I'm not game enough to test mine, 11PSI will do.... :) lol

  4. Guys,

I went against the trend here and used Roof/Tile/Gutter silicon. Its rated to 150 degrees C and I covered the entire pack in a thick coat leaving ony the plug clear.

I also gapped my plugs to 0.8mm since they were at 1.1mm. Seems fine so far but early days yet.... Update in a few weeks.

PS: Be careful when you put the coil pack bracket back in (the metal strip that hold 3 packs) it goes in a certain way. It even says UP and Front or rear on it. I missed it and almost cracked my coil packs :) whoops..... just a heads up!

  5. Seriously guys, you need to own/drive both cars to make a fair comparison.

I can tell you stock for stock,a GC8 WRX (Old shape) will kill a GTS-T. At high speeds the WRX shape becomes wind resistant big time so a GTS-t will probably win from 140+. Up to there though there is no chance.

Power means nothing, WRXs have good bottom end and punchy little turbos. 0-100 the GTS doesn't have a chance..... Accept it and move on.

This is providing the driver knows how to handle the car. Give a rex 3K feed in the clutch quickly and it cuts. Get it wrong and its over.
