Hey guys, I have a series 2 R33 with an auto box. When i pull it back to second and hold it flat, then say shift it up to third say around 5000rpm, the revs suddenly climb faster, like a surge. I dont think its "slip" because the car actually surges harder. It's really weird. And no its not the cam timing kicking in cause it will do it at lower revs too. I have a mate with an auto series 1. It does exactly the same thing. Both boxes seem to function perfectly fine otherwise, and neither slip between gears when left in drive while holding the throttle flat through all the gears. In fact mine spins the wheels a little going into second without a shift kit. both are running around the 230rwhp mark. Any ideas what this weird charactaristic is would be great, as i'd love to know what the hell it is?

Hi guys, its nice to see some chat about autos goin on. sometimes find it hard to get info on them as everyone has manuals. its also nice to see fella's pullin some nice power figures through them too. well done..... quick question, anyone seen a stall converter in a skyline. do you need to prep the box in any way prior to doing so, or would they be ok straight up. what stall would be the go?

I own a r33 s2 and between gear changes there is a kind of ignition cut that is meant to take load off the box between changes and in turn make it last longer (so i have read). I am wondering if like many things on skylines, is there a wire that can be cut in order to remove this and make the changes more direct? Also if nissan uses this method to extend the life of the box, does this not contradict what people say about shift kits being a good thying for auto boxes and that they actually extend the life of a box? Does this ignition cut still activate even when you install a shift kit?

i have done this mod and found it is heaps better down low. this is partly becuase my actuator is set for 9 pound. it does cause some spike coming on so hard so early though! has not hit boost cut though....thats a good thing!

I have read on a few forums now that r33's in standard form boost in two stages. Apparently it is about 4-5psi until 4-4500 rpm and then 6-7 till redline. They say to get the best out of an aftermarket controller this dual stage function should first be disconected. Problem is none of the sites i have read about this explain how. Is anyone familiar with this, and does anyone know how? They dont specify wether this is on both series 1 & 2 either. Can anyone help shed some light on this? Cheers
