5 stopper for hamo then? Jenson with the undercut! He's so easy on his tyres.

Hahaha, would have to be. Damn those Japanese are efficient. I recon any other circuit that'd necessitate a safety car.

I kinda doubt it. It looked like he'd stopped moving over and Jensen ran out of pit road slip lane. Who knows but, uncle Al might be a bit gun ho in his first F1 race. Great start for di Resta, 12th up to 8th. Another meh start for Webber by the looks.

They're both on the provisional grid: http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2011/852/6909/ I can't see any reason they wouldn't race. Both of their team mates set a time well within 107%.
  7. Jerico 4 or 5 speed road race box? Im surprised no one really runs these in Aus. I got rough figures of about $6500 for a 4 speed and ~$8000 for a 5 speed for an 800hp capable box when I looked into it. Edit: With a bellhousing. Oh, and the shifter mechanism will probably necessitate some cutting.

Yea, I just heard vettel saying they had to bring a new front wing from the factory. So I guess they were on old spec gear after the Practice 1 incident. Bit of a balls up from Lewis, could have made the line comfortably if he wasn't dozing. Little wonder that Webber and Schuey scrambled to get past him.

Pretty snoozy Q3 though. I like the format but the tyres are kinda making it boring.

Anyone else feeling the camera work is a bit lacklustre this weekend? Some of its made me feel slightly nauseous.

Quali pre-show on the BBC stream now. Edit: Horner sounded like they were conceding the pole position to run a setup which is easier on tyres. Wouldn't surprise me if they're sandbagging though.

Shhh! They need sponsors... you're ruining it! Some might say the crashes were on purpose, nothing like a crash to get some TV time. Ant and Crofty were talking about Toro Rosso in FP2 and their lack of pace compared to RBR. Apparently RBR and TR share tech (even though TR designed their own cars this year apparently) so why the aren't there four Redbull cars at the front of the grid if that's the case? Can anyone explain it or point me in the right direction? Or is it a case of not actually sharing tech? I actually thought they weren't allowed until this came up today.

Hahah For sure. I might not be a Vettel fan, but I'm absolutely a Newey fan. F1 engineers in general are pretty brilliant, but he's a step or two ahead of the rest. How quick were the officials to remove his car from the track though. He'd barely finished crashing before the end loader was there and they're hooking it up.

That'd make sense if he hadn't jumped on the gas again out of Degner 1. He had plenty of time to slow down, just chose not to.

I cant find the article I was reading about the situation, but the whole thing seems like a bloody mess. I'm not sure I can handle going back to listening to Greg Rust and tolerate their pathetic ad break timing. I just find it slightly suicidal that the viewing rights would go from a station with 20% of the viewer share, free to air, to a channel with a pathetic 1% and paywalled out the arse in a country where 8 of the 12 teams are based. I cant imagine that the cash from the TV rights would compensate sufficently for the loss of eyes seeing advertising. It doesn't matter anyway, the deals been done till 2018 and we're to shutup and take it caws Bernie says so.

Heh, I thought it was kinda funny, Hamilton only managed a couple outside of the DRS zone against tier 2/3 cars. Every other overtake I saw was through the DRS zone, with the go fast buttons pushed. Webbers first overtake looked pretty good but fair enough he took advantage of Alonso's fast fading tyres. The second overtake just after the restart was a piece of mastery. Overtake of the race in my books. Also not sure what Eddies deal was saying that the contact between Hamilton and Massa was just a racing incident. From what I remember of it, Massa had his race compromised through almost no fault of his own by a completely avoidable collision. If that doesn't deserve a penalty I dunno what does. Hamilton could have cruised past through the DRS zone again. Likewise MS and his idiotic accident. And after the first lap shenannigans in qualifying its little wonder that Redbull/SV are in such a commanding position. The competition are still tripping over themselves trying to keep up. Meanwhile SV and MW half a lap back, clean air and still managed two qualifying runs. The only area they're weak IMO is engines really, the renno aint exactly brilliant. Stick a Mercedes engine in that car and they'd be completely untouchable. Oh, and the KERS but it would appear they don't really need that shit anyway. Also really impressed with Force Indias efforts, Sutil and di Resta worked great as a team. Hope they can keep improving this season and next. Edit: Hah, Redbull aren't paying for a second team, plus a drive for Ricciardo as well as all their development series teams for nothing. Why would they even dream of hiring tainted property who pisses and moans about a great car when they've got their own well trained crop. You'll see Buemi or Alguersuari or a long list of others in that seat before they'd even dream of hiring Hamilton. Unlike a team such as Williams, Redbull don't seem to consider their drivers just guns for hire and they're a better team for it. Here here.

I wonder if the rain light had something to do with it. I can imagine it'd be pretty effing hard to judge the distance and speed when your only good point of reference keeps flashing on and off. Wait, what the hell am I doing, making excuses for Vettel.... for shame. He did hit Webber almost square up the arse though, didn't look like any kind of substantial effort was made to avoid him. haha, its easy to make friends when you share a mutual dislike for someone. Just looking back over some of the race summarys, I'd forgotten what a wild season 2007 was.

First, let me say I'm no Vettel fan, arrogant little prick. But I'm even less of a fan of Lewis, the boy with the silver spoon shoved up his arse. If I remember correctly the safety car was miles ahead, Lewis then accelerated towards the last corner and then decided he wanted to back the pack up (or play dirty tricks and try and give others penalties for overtaking), he pulled over to the right side of the track which forced Mark to almost stop on the left to avoid overtaking him. Vettel came to the scene with speed, I guess assuming they were accelerating for the restart and found an almost stationary Webber with no where to go (Lewis on the right). He may have been the one that made contact but the person responsible for the whole sequence of events is one L.Hamilton. IIRC Vettel was balling his eyes out in the pit lane afterwards, I'm not sure if its because he blew his chances at his first podium (probably more likely) or that he took out the senior driver at the senior team who was on for the teams first win. I'm not sure who Webber blames, I seem to remember his relationship with Hamilton is less that friendly though? Looks like Webber and DC had a blast at Redbull together. I'd love to see Button and Webber in the same team, looks like it was supposed to happen in 05/06 at Williams if it wasn't for the meddling FIA.
  23. I bought this car as an engine donor for my S13 before deciding I wasn't quite finished playing with SR20s yet. I need the space so it has to go. Car has ~130,000km on the clock and is unregistered but complied (has been registered in Aus). VH45DE is strong and runs well. Transmission has been beefed up, running a 2900rpm stall converter, kevlar bands and manualised. Photos: http://irokin.com/gallery/myPh3.core.php?album=/Infiniti If you wanted to restore it some things that need attention: Active suspension leaking LHS wing mirror damaged Some paint damage (see photos) Rivet holes where side skirts were ripped off front bar and side skirts damaged/missing Drivers seat in poor condition Price: $3000 as is $2000 BYO rims and tyres. Located in Western suburbs of Brisbane. PM me or email [email protected] for more details or contact number.
  24. Try more like 80-120,000rpm. Turbos are hardly an item you can just tool up your machinery for and start pumping them out. Garretts taken 30 odd years of R&D to get to where they are today. I expect it will take KKR et al "chinese turbos" at least another 10-15 years to get anywhere near similar sorts of quality and durability. A little off topic but how pathetic is it to name yourself KKR and obveously try to ride off KKKs (Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch, now part of siemens) reputation. I for one will never buy a KKR product based on that fact alone.
