  1. A few months ago my R32 GTS-t developed a problem that suggested it was being starved of fuel - in other words as soon as I tried to accelerate, it lost power. I replaced the fuel filter without fixing the problem. My mechanic had a look at it and decided it was electrical so off to the auto-electrician who diagnosed a faulty AFM and a $500+ quote to fit a reconditioned one. I looked at our forum and found a post which suggested removing the AFM, cleaning it thoroughly with brake cleaner (non-residual) and resoldering the contacts in the body of the AFM. I'm sorry but I didn't photograph the steps involved but it worked! Save yourself some moolah and give this a go - no problems since!
  2. Frozen filler plugs seem to be common - my mechanic tried welding a bolt head onto the one on my gearbox to get better purchase and still couldn't get it free so he ended up filling the box via the reversing light switch (which he removed and then used that hole).
  3. Finchy - I have the R30 workshop manual so will scan the wiring diag for you.
  4. If 98 octane isn't available when you need to fill up - on a country trip for example - should you use an octane booster or is it just a matter of driving conservatively to make sure that detonation doesn't occur? If an octane booster is the way to go, which brands provide the best result? My car is a stock R32 GTS-t.
  5. HCR32 - top tutorial mate! I'll be doing both of mine shortly.
  6. Thanks Ghostrider - that's the first useful reply I've had from three different forums - this one, Ozdat & R31 Skyline. On the subject of handbrake cables I recently found out that Power Brakes SA is now making these up
  7. While we're on R30 brakes, does anyone know if R31 disc rotors and calipers bolt straight onto an R30? I've been quoted stratopheric prices for new rotors and am thinking R31 parts are the way to go because they're more readily available. Otherwise it looks like a trip to the wreckers and R30s are getting hard to find.
