  1. I agree, although the penalty for not-declaring full purchase price, in relation to paying duty will be alot more than $150.00!!!!! may be cheaper to get that lawyer!! Customs are FULL -ON with this kind of thing.
  2. This is NOT about GST, its about a customs ruling that : all costs associated with importation/ purchase of a vehicle be it de-reg, inland transport ,entry in Jay ect be included in the FOB invoice and be fully dutiable. I guess they are including in this the costs paid to a Broker......... ie: car cost $ 5000.00 fob $ 1000.00 brokers fee $ 1000.00 ______________ Duty payable on $7000.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Hey Driftt, Yes thats what they told me too, I am a bit suprised that some of these brokers are not offering this service or at the very least ,linking up to the VDO site ? NOTE*** They did tell me that they are unable to say how many km the vehicle has travelled , only that it had been tampered with. This service would be a great "selling point" if I were purchasing a vehicle i had not seen and only trusting somebodys quick look-over!!! and opinion of condition and KM .
  4. Hi Zactor, Yes Geoff at Status is a TOP guy, will send details. I have him currently on the look-out for a sub 30.000km GTR ,
  5. Sorry "Dude" refreing to vehicle 89 GTR" !!!!! a 1995 with under 30.000Km would be acurate!!!!!!!!!! Q. Do any vehicles entering Aust have the speedo,s altered or is that just a myth???? Thinking of buying one ,but want below30Km genuine, but would need a "Stat Dec" from supplier and a full inspection at this end to confirm. Can i get refunded if the vehicle is proved to be "wound back" as VDO instuments Aust are now offering this service, they will strip ,the odo and put it under some special light to confirm, I have contacted them and they have told me that there method is 100% and the certificates they issue will hold up in court. Can you recommend any good importer,s who would be OK with this??? Any advice welcome. TA
  6. undefined A 89 GTR with un-believably low km,s probably is!!!!! if this vehicle was the gen article it would have history and be sold into the Jay domestic market for big "coin" And Geoff is a top bloke , I think he should run for P.M, he has carisma, style, honesty and heaps of cred!!!!. He dresses well and has impecable table manners he is also a fit and if i may say a "good looking bloke" His knowledge of ALL things imported vehicle related is stagering!!!! he is a saint in the make believe world of forum "junkies"............ P.S I was considering marketing a line of Geoff merchandise, you know t-shirts and caps ect.... should sell a million, may even make enough to buy one of these 30.000KM 15 year old , never raced, owned by a nun GT,Rs......... Go for IT!!!!!!!
  7. I have recently spoken to a friend whom is employed by a Federal Minister as an adviser, he has done some digging around and spoken to DOTARS employees whom administer the Raws(Importing) system . The unofficial word is that the Department has set a maximum number of RAW,s per state based on a per/capita basis. N.S.W -28 VIC -25 W.A - 14 TAS -6 S.A -16 N.T -11 Q.L.D-26 These figures are based on budget and staffing levels at D.O.T.A.R.S (Dept Of Transport and Regional Services) These numbers are what the Dept will allow(unofficially) and can administer with -in its budget forecast 03/04 . It will only allow additional numbers of RAWS if existing RAW,s cancel there approvals are or disallowed from the system. I would love to get this in writting!!!!!!!!
  8. F.Y.I******** Used Japanese imported vehicles represent 0.8% of ALL vehicles sold in Aust ; ***2002**** Report prepared by industry groups 2003 Nissan report" Luxury 4x4 sales up 37% 2003 QTR 2003 Toyota "Sales tipped for continued growth this year" 2003 Toyota " captures small mid range vehicle market with the introduction of the new Corolla" Talk about GREED........
  9. The requirment for licencing imported 1989 vehicles next year with-in W.A are due for some changes ie; * full engineers inspection *cat converters *intrusion bars *seat belt upgrades *emmisions test(full) to RAWS spec *CRA,s *removal of some a/m parts *ect,,,,, * RAWS to comply only T.B.C I know, other State licencing authorities in Aust have been insisting on these requirments now for some time, although some of the proposed changes are being challenged legally. We fully understand the requirments under the M.V.A of 89,to have ALL vehicles built on or after this date to comply with ADR,s of the day (1989) although the following are highly arguable 1. Engineers sign-off, this is what we pay the vehicle examiners for? 2. emmisions test, NO Aust vehicle of 15y/o would pass this test so why should a used Jap import? 3.RAWS only to comply, why? a RAW system is a Federal requirment and has No State recognised authority. These issues will be talked about in depth latter, but WATCH this space....... Cheers
  10. Import approvals are now taking as long as 30+ days to process, the delay seems to be in staffing with-in the Dept, and the usual give a F%$CK attitude constantly being displayed by our Federal friends. It is allways a "smart move" to have the IA in hand before you ship your vehicle, although a vehicle is not officially classed as imported until the customs entry has been made.therefore if you import a vehicle and factor in a 14-20 day turnaround for your IA and your vehicle arrives and you still have not recieved your IA (it happens) DONT let your agent enter it , cop the storage . As the vehicle has no status until the entry is made and the Feds have no info on its wereabouts until that time.
  11. Hi P1E, What RAW workshop/s will this Geoff , be using to comply his vehicles?????
  12. Chill Predman , only trying to help keep P1E from doing his "Plums"!!!! who is this Geoff anyway?
  13. Hi Pie, If you are talking about a 15Y/O vehicle, a/m gear can be left installed as the only dramas you may encounter will be the local Licencing authorities. and it may just be a case of removing some of the parts to licence the vehicle. Although if you have been "promised" a vehicle imported by a RAW(SEVS) vehicle with the non-conforming parts retained or re-fitted then be very very carefull. In fact if anybody from"DOTARS"is monitoring this thread then I would say you are allready shot! and possibly the company you have mentioned!!!!! I would guess that if a RAW was caught out with your vehicle in his premisis that was signed -off and found NOT to be conforming to his evidence ie:17" Rims fitted or S/steel exhaust ect then you would be without your vehicle, and DOTARS would not care who owns it ,as it would come down to a legal claim between you and the RAW, not DOTARS.....
  14. Question: When is a RAW NOT a RAW? Answer: When they leave on or re-fit after market(non-conforming parts) with-out evidence!!! This is going to be a huge problem for "some" of the RAW workshops here in Aust particularly the ones importing Skylines,as to import and sell a stock33 will be about as saleable as a" pair of trousers filles with African killer bees" . and some Raws have allready gone out and publically said"If they think I am going to remove a S/Steel Trust exhaust of a vehicle and destroy it ,they must think I am a F%CK$# Idiot" un-quote!!!! I wonder how long someone will be a RAW for with that kind of attitude? What would happen to somebody who has paid a deposit to a RAW to import a modified Skyline, and the vehicle gets inspected and the RAW gets an audit and nailed? where would that leave the client and his vehicle???
  15. I hear you, although I think the probability of importing a 15Y/O vehicle with accident repair damage is greater than more current models and you can allways check out the local stuff yourself! as you get what you pay for.....or is it you get what you can see for yourself!! Dude a 1989 GTR32 with full topsecret mods, veilside kit ,18"works alloys, full spec electronic controllers, mint paint and never seen a paint shop, only driven on Sundays by a Nun ,dont really exist!!!!! regardless of what your so called "Brokers" have to say!! The vast majority are full spec ex-drift cars and most have had more hits than" Tina Turner" and driffted up Roko mountain to with-in an inch of there lives. But if you can find one from the Osaka church drift club let me know!!!
  16. Cant work out what ALL the fuss is about,Whats a 15Y/o 32 SkylineGTST going to cost you? Car cost -250-350.oooYen @$4800 AUD Import Duty/ GST/freight $3400AUD State Compliance/ service/engineer sign off ect$2000AUD Licence/stamp duty $l600 AUD TOTAL $10800AUD This is excluding a "BEND OVER FEE" from your Broker and any paint/panel and major mechanical repairs, remembering you are dealing with a 15Y/O vehicle so clutches and turbos are not un-likely. So in reality its probably going to owe [email protected]....... Lets look at the Sunday papers or Autotrader mags now shal We 1995 Skyline GTST with mods @17.500K 1993'' '' @13.500 with out stereo"big deal" 1994" " @16.500 from a yard with 3Ywarranty 1996" " @20.500K 1994" " @16.000K These are all licecnced/complianced/and have decent mods ie:Rims ,exhaust ,PFC, suspention, kits ect. they are also "tangable" you can drive them and have them inspected no Russian roulet here. This makes the 15Y/O option a bit lame....It also makes the vehicles imported under the RAW scheme look very un-financial ie; 1995 RAW Skyline GTST [email protected] with NO mods at all!!!! Give it some serious thought, forget importing as there are bargains to be had without the headaches and without paying for the brokers new 750K house!!!!!!
  17. That,s scarry stuff, Rumor has it that there are 6x GTR32,s in much worse shape!!!!! if I had one over there I would be DEMANDING a up-to date photo and condition report ASAP... I dont know what supplier has these vehicles in Japan but I would not like to be one of his clients when there vehicles arrive.... might get messy!!!!
  18. That looks like a Celsior, not much of a "Prestige" car now is it, I wonder whom is going to pay for the missing rims, smashed side skirts and window and god knows whats been ripped of from inside? the owner has still got to wait 8-12 months to import it. I would not be happy to leave it with no window for that long, it snows in Japan !!!!
  19. I have just seen some disturbing pics of one of the holding yards in "J" being used to hold a Perth import/Brokers vehicles. It looks like a huge FREE spare parts depot! if your new car HAD a nice set of 17/18" rims think again, and to think you still have to wait until mid next year, if there is anything left to send that is. The story goes that this company is now facing HUGE storage costs in J and this was cutting into his $bottom line so they have moved vehicles into a less secure yard to save a few$$$$ might as well put them at the Whitfords train station or the Carosel S/C car park!!!! pissed off!!!!
  20. Hi Duncan, All the legitamate dealers that I know do own there own stock, thats the major differance between a "dealer" and a" broker" in that because a dealer owns and sells his vehicles he is responsible to provide the vehicle in a specific time schedule and in as described condition or can face stiff penalties under the "fair trading"Act. The brokers get around these responsibilities by not owning the vehicles therefore cant be held accountable when things go "pear shapped". I can could accept as a purchaser waiting 2-3 months for a new vehicle from a dealership, normally because the colour or options chosen are special order, but 12-18 months for a 15 year old vehicle!!!! i dont think so. we may have to get together one day as I would love to have a beer with Duncan!!!! sorry dude could not help myself!!!!
  21. I agree GTAAH, you really have to wonder about the thought that was put into this, did anybody read the contracts? fine print?I wonder where a "registered dealer" would stand if he was holding deposits on vehicles promised in Jan and un-able to deliver them as promised, some as late as Dec04/Jan 05?. I hope the new house is at lock-up .May have to settle for faux marble instead of the real thing, help pay for some of those legal bills that will start rolling in!!!!!
  22. When thrown a boomerang will return, a "frisbee will not"............................12/89 GTR in J "not happy Jan"
  23. Does anybody know where I can get A cheap GTR R32 Font cut from!!! How F&%^CK*D off would you be if you had allready purchased a 1989 vehicle in J and cant ship it until mid next YEAR, especially paying 2003 prices and storage in J. I guess those few whom fancied themselves cruising along Westcoast HWY in Summer with the top down in your new Mazda Eunos Roadster may have to settle for trying to work out were all the water is leaking in from your roof "mid next winter".... But its not all bad news because according to some? 2K will buy you RAW compliance on a R32Skyline????? put the crack pipe down dude ,try 4-4.5K And too think the stormtrooper tactics shown by our Federal friends was bought about by a particular importer whom the Feds were made aware of with 150+ 1989 vehicles in J all redy to lob in Jan........ Greed+ slickness= Buyer beware??? not really good enough is it!!!! At least it will give his clients more time to save up for there insurance...they may even be over 21 when there new car arrives.
  24. Hi Predator, Your correct!!! this may not pose a huge drama for Euro imports as the year/ month is simple to confirm, but the "J" imports are difficult due to the" Date of Manufacture" and" Date first Sold(registered) laws in japan . As the responsibility will fall on the importer to prove year/month manufacture. If the importer cant provide suficient info on D.O.M the vehicles Import Approval will be issued to read "UNKNOWN MONTH OF MANUFACTURE" and the vehicle will only be allowed into Aust after last day of Dec 04. I wonder how many 1989 32,s will be on the JAN 05 ship???? a bit Harsh!!!!!
  25. Hi guys, Alot of info has been contributed regarding the new RAW system, as I have recently undergone a vehicle inspection, and will be up and running soon I thought a few facts regarding modified vehicle imports under RAW would be in order..... The main area of confusion seems to be modified imports, the rules are pretty clear on this one "forget it" I doubt any importers will risk loosing there approvals after spending mega$$ by retaining modified parts on vehicles. removing parts for latter sale or refittment also is a big NO NO! as ALL parts not standard on vehicles, and these could include- * Body kits *A/M rims *B/O valves *A/M exhausts *engine upgrades *Suspention upgrades Basically ANY non-standard factory fitted articles must be removed and DESTROYED and documents retained to prove it. AHH ,,,,I here you say how will any one know what came fitted to the vehicle ex Japan, believe me they will know! as Customs will be with-holding random vehicles for inspections and photographing components, before being released to the RAWS. If any RAWs are found to be ,even bending the rules they will be out of the game!!! sounds harsh but thats the rulesand ALL RAWS are well aware of it. 15 YEAR OLD IMPORTS****** Any vehicles imported next year under this rule are also in for a nasty shock. Not only because of the additional costs of compliance, as W.A now will be insisting on ANY vehicles 15Y/O or older to now meet very strict criteria prior to licencing, this will bring W.A in line with most of the other states requiring vehicles to meet tight ADR,s such as * Intrusion bars if not fitted * new seat belt regs *Cat converters *New windscreens on some models *Full engineers "sign _off"@ $550.00 TBC * possibly emmissions tests TBC But wait there is more bad news, the 15Y/O rule will be strictly enforced , so forget about sending a 12Month 89 vehicles down in Jan!!!!! you will have to send it back or destroy it. I can smell a "class action" here for some importers with lots of pre-sold vehicles in Japan promissing them to clients in Jan!!!! Anyway its not all bad, as vehicles avaliable under the RAW system should ALL be of the highest quality and importers will be totally accountable. So start collecting your go-fast gear now ready to fit it to your stock Skylines under RAW.... Cheers
