  1. Hi Driftt, I contacted Mark.S sometime ago and asked him to source a particular vehicle, he told me he only operates via Prestige M.S . He recommended i pay up the BUTT TAX (Brokers FEE).That aint gunna happen!!!! BTW have a look around the jay auctions Yahoo, e-bay ect, see what the vehicles sell for and where they end up and at what price? ie 1990 Legacy sold e-bay 97.000Y ended up on a Brokers site 270.000Y , a hint: check out the last biders handle!!!! How much commision do you charge to find and help import a vehicle? and dont you also take responibility for finding compliance? and some people pay $1100AUD and then pay extra when the vehicle is loaded in jay!!!! So much for :Take the risk out of importing" "dont pay dealer prices" propaganda.
  2. [quote name= --- Many thousands of people who jumped on the 15+ bandwagon will be affected by the changes' date=' some will lose their businesses (which they setup as soon as profitable cars became available under 15+) and a significant number of people will be directly and immediately put out of work because of something we have seen coming for years but, hey, we continued to milk it so now the shit will hit the fan in 3 weeks. ---Risbey shifted a bloody lot of cars under the 15+ rule, and hey, he stands to lose a fair bit of dosh from a mess anyone could see was unfolding. Say goodbye to cheap rusty S-cargo's and light trucks folks.[/quote] Well put Floody, "He Who Has most To Gain, Maketh most noise" If they dont like it, set-up a RAW,s!!!!
  3. How many users of this forum are disadvantaged as they are now un-able to import a- MX-5 ? Nissan Patrols? Commercial vehicles? Toyota Surfs? Toyota Celsior? ect...ect 32 skylines will shortly be avaliable through a RAW as will Zeds!!!! 33,s have allways been avaliable and have never qualified as 15 year old imports. The SEV,s list has also made vehicles avaliable, never imported here previously such as the V-35 and the Stagea with many new models to follow... You all have the right to be "dark" with the way the decision was implemented, and i would agree with the conspiracy theorists as to who had what input. But I fail to see how the new "Regs" can STOP anybody importing a 1989-current Skyline..... After all is this not called SKYLINES AUSTRALIA........ The MX-5 club may be complaining!!!!!
  4. You are 100% correct with your post, it is probably the most accurate describtion of this industry I have read. As a RAW I very carfully select my own vehicles, if i import a pig its my arse!!!!. Brokers on the other hand dont give a s#i% as long as the fee is paid up here and they get there loading from the buyer in J their happy. Interestingly though all the recent B/S regarding brokers NOT owning the vehicles and only acting as purchasing agents///// how come they are now offering vehicles for sale with import approvals allready in hand or being applied for? the last time i applied for a import apro i had to fill in the box asking for the "OWNERS NAME" !!!!! brokers must have ESP lets hope they use there super powers for the good of ALL man-kind ah.
  5. Your "spot-on" Its a bit late after the vehicle is in Aust!!!!! and the workshop decides the damage exceeds the very clear RAW guidelines. Who pays for re-export?
  6. Ossie...Ossie...Ossie oi.oi.oi. You should probably contact the RAW immediately!!!!! as it sounds like the compliace workshop involved MUST be unaware of the prevoius accident history. Or allow for re-export costs( at your expense)...... be very careful
  7. Correct!!! It was a bit of a" dig" but its not brain surgery and most people that can turn on a computer can import there own vehicle. Well picked up on the I.Appro, just testing and I was in a hurry!!!! One argument, apart from the usual "nuff saids" that I have been waiting for is "A broker can insure that your vehicle is fully checked out and in fair condition" Based on some of the (15YO)compliance jobs we have been getting through I very much doubt this. We all get the occasional vehicle slip through the net, one that is not up to par, this is called "importing" and happens, although by importing yourself you will end up with a much cheaper mistake.
  8. Hi SteveL!!! Thanks for your as ,usual valuable and insightfull contribution/s.... I thought the info I supplied may have been of some help , obviously i was wrong will not happen again!!! PS Whats the "L" stand for ? I bet I could take a wild stab in the dark.... NUFF SAID.............
  9. [seeing as its all so easy, shouldn't take up much of your time. Go for it...... Step 1.Using a computer with internet access, type in "used Japanese vehicles" Step 2.Locate a supplier that you feel comfortable to do business with many will have pics and descriptions of vehicles or I am sure you could order by spec(Check the SEVS list before making any purchase) Step 3. when your supplier has found a suitable vehicle get him to Fax/e-mail you an invoice this will probably be in Japanese Yen, your local news paper will have the current exchange rates. Step 4. Go to your local bank and send a T/T (telegraphic transfer for the amount shown on the invoice) this will cost you @$25.00 and the bank will convert the Yen amount to Aust dollars. Step 5. This is the trickey bit, wait for the supplier to send you the B/L(Bill of ladeing ) maritime lingo for shipping documents, this will advise what vessel/port/ and ETA(Estimated time of arrival) Step6. Pick up your local phone book and look under C for customs brokers or F for freight forwarders, within a very short time you should have the phone number of a business that will now fully explain and guide you through the duty and customs clearance side of vehicle importing.... I will not go into the details regarding compliancing as most brokers dont either!!! Sorry nearly forgot Step7. Call all your mates "BUTT MONKEYS for wasting $1000 by using a "Cut and Paste merchant" spend the $1000 on a fronty instead!!!!! Even Steve L should be able to manage this............
  10. Thanks funkymonkey for that tip about JAD.Do they send many cars to Aust?
  11. Hi Steve The original thread is about odo,s with misleading KM, are you saying these vehicles all have gen KM? or did you once have a traumatic childhood episode involving a car dealer? Therapy is a wonderful thing.........
  12. Thanks for your clarification, and i thought this was about educating people on the reality of false odo,s!!!! silly me , . Does your obviously balanced and informed opinions extend to Brokers as well, or just #$@^&% Dealers?
