  1. They where actually $110,000 fromt the Nissan dealer at the time, but I believe they dropped in the range of $90-80k as sales where few and slow.
  2. Lack the excitment of a RZ Supra????? I think you got that the other way around.
  3. That's a shame, well surpised that he had GTR's non the less.
  4. Yes he sure does B) , especially considering that the man could have afforded "any" other exotic sport car in the world. I don't think I know of any other high profile figure to have a interest in GTR's let alone the "very" high profile Mr Packer. Don't even think others would even consider it in any instance, and most likely dismiss it with a snoobish attitude, as it is not European. Given that Mr Packer loved it, say's a lot about the man, and volumes for the car
  5. Just read in the "Smokin" column on page 39 of the latest Wheels mag, and it writes that when the R32 GTR first lobbed into Australia the great man himself Kerry Packer(RIP), bought one and then 2 more (which model not known), and was regularly seen driving to work in one. From Wheels: "That day was the beginning of a long-lived affair. Kerry Packer eventually bought three GT-Rs. Through the 90's I would sometimes spot him in one, driving himself to the office. It says something about the man that he chose a relatively affordable Nissan, even though he could have afforded anything he desired." Who would of known that Kerry Packer was a great fan of the GTR...just puts a smile on my face and enforces my love for the red emblem.
  6. Thought that might be the chase witht the R34 But irrespective, I did a conversion, and 7 X 100mmHg is equal to around 13.5psi and not 14.5psi as many have stated here. So the half way mark is around 6.75psi, therefore for 7/8psi I would expect the gauge to read above the the half way marking, which my car is not doing at full boost.... please correct me if I am wrong
  7. We had a look the other day when my friend spotted the issue. Solenoid looked fine well from the outside anyway, will have another look tonight after work. So anything specific that I should be checking looking at? Thanks
  8. Its cool mate, we didn't take out the solenoid, just "unplugged the boost controller. Plus what I am trying to say is that there is no jump in boost from 4500rpm, only which seems like to happen at around 3000rpm, but I could be wrong, as one can't look at the factory gauge on the dash while at the same time driving
  9. With a auto, you actually don't feel that big change in boost heheh, its quite progressive unfortunately...
  10. It actually feels like, boost changes from around 3000rpm?? but not 4500rpm?
  11. Yes your absolutely right, it hits 7/8psi above 4500rpm due the opening of the solenoid (friend with the R34 knows this too) that's why he picked up that something might be wrong with my boost. The problem is that mine dosn't even do this at 7000rpm??? it just stays below the half way marking of the boost guage at full boost, which is telling me its around 5/6psi?? Something wrong here?
  12. It's stock a controller, and at max boost it's just below half way? Though it would be above, as friend's stock R34 GTT (with pod and cat back), at full boost is above half way mark. So R34 GTT's run higher stock boost?? Thanks.
  13. Hi guys, I have a R33 1996 GTST 4door sedan auto. I have done a search and it seems that the standard boost for a R33 GTST is 7psi, but couldn't find any thread that matches and answers my querie. Basically, my friend who drives a R34 GTT noticed that my standard boost guage is not reading above the half way marking being close to 7+mmhg? Which I believe is where it should read at max boost (i.e7psi). I have a turbo back exhaust and big pod, would expect to be getting close to 8psi. We disconnected the boost controller and still no difference? Is there something wrong with the boost control or is it the guage? Any advice is much appreciated.
  14. Standard R33 Gtst auto sedan runs 15 flat. So your magna is 0.8 seconds off at around 160km/h and about 3-4 car lengths behind... so in fact a "standard" skyline GTST sedan is significantly quicker than any "standard" Magna, end of...
  15. I have a R33 series II 4 door auto with turbo back exhaust and k&N large intake. Have come up against three(3) V8 commodores so far. VX SS sedan (with exhaust I think, and manual) - head to head VY V8 Wagon - See you later after second gear (above 60km/h) VZ SS Ute (with exhaust and mannual) - head to head in first gear (up to 70km/h) but he pulled in front after he changed into second. Although this was in a hot day. Reckon would of been head to head if not faster given a cold day or at night. Conclusion: The V8 commodores IMO are not very fast and quite dissapointing actually given the fact that a "1996" skyline with roughly 200kw can keep up with a "2003-05" V8 with 255 kW.
  16. As you can see on the APS website the XR6T manual Phase III had 330 rwkw (see dyno graph), and it only struggled to manage 307km/h. (Not to mention a total lack of stability) An XR6T auto with the same power doing over 330km/h on a open road...someone's telling fibs.
  17. That is very cheap! How did you manage that?
  18. Ditto..as said: Ones made with racing in mind i.e race tracks with smooth surfaces and the other for Aus Roads..then again one should try the R34 GTR M -spec with special damping technology from Le Mans racing knowledge to dial out those rough surfaces at high speed...
  19. Pretty much what I thought, similar advise was given by a lawyer friend of mine. Anyway, thanks guys for the advise...I have decided not to contest it in court and pay the fine and live with a 3 point demerit.
  20. Being new on here, I hope I don't step on anyone's toes, but my opinion is: Different horses for different courses, as they say. In the contest of comparing a GTR against Fords XR6T or Typhoon (which probably belongs in another thread). Ones made for racing in mind, the other a comfortable fast sporty GT sedan for Australian roads. Also will the ultimate XR6T or Typhoon, have any chance against the likes of a Nismo Z Tune GTR or even the scarely fast Mines GTR.
  21. I didn't admit to speeding but I didn't contest it either.
  22. Thanks for that, so in other words, you can lose in court if one contests the fine.
