  1. With current fuel price's and the outlook of further rises if the war goes ahead against Iraq, i was wondering the effect of running regular Unleaded instead of Premium. My first guess would be that the car might "Ping" as the mapping is set for "Hi ocu" 100 RON Unleaded..... Would that be the only issue or would there be other issue's with the car...?? What do you think?? Know of any other issue's with using Regular Unleaded....?? I use Premium and always will....,Would LOVE to have Hi ocu but ......niah.... what do you do.... I dont think it would pass AQIS somehow.... Loz
  2. I dont know how to post pic's here.....
  3. I had that same problem.... It disappeared after a drive on Paramatta Rd sydney, Third gear 3000rpm.....60kph dont know how, dont know why, it just did..... but if it does it again, im going to the mechanic and put it on the diagnostic Loz
  4. Enrico, you will find that "compliance " requires that all fluids be replaced. A fuel filter will be installed, oil, coolant, breaklines, and pads (only..if they are pretty much worn out) plus a whole heap of other ADR Compliant stuff. My point is WHY you feel the need to change oil etc AGAIN after compliance... it might not be High Performance material, but if'it's done, why change it. You may as well enjoy the car for 5000k's then put in the Hi performance oil and stuff. i agreee with predator check disc's and pads.... tyre's should be BRAND NEW after compliance..... Am unsure about a tune, if the car is stock form, the computer will be mapped for stock set up, as i have read the stock computers are not updatable.... i could be wrong on the tune front though.... Rule of thumb.... unless your going to be flogging the living Shait out of it, most good oils/parts should be fine.... Loz
  5. Mine just lull's me in to thinking it's nice and cool outside.... till i open the door.....
  6. Ahhhh.... here i was thinking that my skyline was running lower boost than 7psi That $300 guage wasn't necessecery..... DOE!!!!! ..Not....
  7. A man in his 40's bought a new Skyline R34 GTR and was out on the Freeway for a nice evening drive. The sunroof was open, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair, and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 130kph, he suddenly saw flashing red and blue lights behind him. There's no way they can catch a GTR," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 170 then 200kph.... then the reality of the situation hit him. "What the hell am I doing?" he thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license without a word, and examined it and the car. "It's been a long day, this is the end of my shift, and it's Friday the 13th. I don't feel like more paperwork, so if you can give me an excuse that I haven't heard before for your driving, you can go." The guy thought for a second and said, "Last week my wife ran off with a cop. I was afraid you were trying to give her back." "Have a nice weekend," said the officer. Seemed to fit the mood i think Loz
  8. Some of you might like this story One day my R33 GtST decided that "Normal" idle was 1100 rpm, great for new drivers, being able to change gears and not "Bunny Hop" the Skyline, Anyway... 3 days the idle did this...I went for a drive down Paramatta rd..(one end to the other) test out them shocks, Halliluiya(english me good yeah?) .... idle back to Normal (700 ish)..... Maybe that's all it takes...... Whats the bet it will do it again tho.... Loz
  9. hey Tlai909, Geoff is a great bloke..... Better than a alot of others i chatted too... Spotted the HPI R34 the other day..... Ben's surely got it lookin and soundin sweet... Loz
  10. Let me put it this way Hippy, (i feel like I'm degrading you 'cause of the name) you pay a tax on the price (yen) of the car, then shipping, then customs, then 10%GST If you buy a car worth more than 50,000 A$ then expect to pay LCT (Luxury Car Tax) ON TOP of the other charges, LCT is 15% of the buy price. I paid nearly 4,000 in Tax, shipping and customs. 3,7 off the top of my head. Then add towing, compliance and rego.... hey presto... Cheap car....
  11. Think outside the box.... What do you automatically think when you see a Green "P" plate on a rusty, loud, noisy VK with 6 people in it.... That's right Same goes for a Import. They are known for power, style, and Modification..... whats the first thing most "Young" people want to do to their car.... Lower it, or fit a loud exhaust.... or maybe a stereo...CHEAP. This is usually the big reason for it IF ( and i do mean IF) it crashes into someone and kills them due to the modifications present on the vehicle...especially if they are illegal... and it could have been prevented if the car was in Standard form....wouldn't you try to stop them... I have made sure that my cars have been modified "Legally"...It's not cheap, but more satisfing when you can present the police officer with all the relevant details of the legallity of the 'Mod The only reason i say this is that last night i sat in a car park watching a whole heap of P platers in these lowered Rodeo's and commondore's (and i mean literally half an inch off the road) with loud Doof Doof, and very loud (and bad) exhausts... then they wonder "why" they get defected.... I understand the annoyance with the Police "watching" Imported cars, but that's the way it is and i dont think that will change.... Do it right, make sure it's legal and no...I'm in the radio business Cheers Loz
  12. Hippy... Go to www.prestigemotorsports.com.au You will find all the info you need on Importing a car, costs, yadda yadda yadda..... I went through them, excellent service.... i saved over 10,000 doing it....
  13. I've been told that, disconnecting the battery does not always work. A qualified mechanic is the best alternative.....
  14. here's an oddball one.... Disconnect the battery for a couple of hours.... I've heard that the computers..."reset" themselves ..... If you still have the problem, I'm guessing that it has been repaird now
  15. I believe they were not changed, but i read on the engineer's certificate a clause for it. It had no tick or anything next to it so i guess the pads made it in ok. I'll check the certificate and post it here what it says Loz
  16. It's funny sometimes..... Cars have made advances in safety features, power, balance etc etc etc, yet people seem to not understand simple things... and im talking across the board (no one in particular) Road, dry good tyres, suspension set up, breaks etc = Good driving conditions... Road, Wet, good tyres, suspension, breaks etc = Slippery conditions Have you noticed in wet conditions people still speed, tailgate, break to hard and late blah blah blah... I work in the Radio industry and everyday when it rains the accident report list goes through the roof. I laugh sometimes and think that the Panel Beaters and tow truck drivers here on the Central Coast rub there hands together with glee when it rains.... I think im in the wrong business sometimes.... Cheers Loz
  17. That's true.... After collecting my paperwork from the compliance centre, i found thaty the pads HAVE to be changed if there is LESS than 50% of breake pad left. So i ended up answering my own thread.....DOE!!! But thanks for the input guys... i wanted to make sure that i was not being given the bump steer... Loz
  18. Whole dash comes out as one unit.... two screws at the top of the face plate, drop down steering wheel, ease out all points (as in all corners stereo, above gear stick, etc) should all "pop" out with a bit of force. as for the rest, talk to a auto electrician, they'll want a whole day to work on them, unless you have a wiring diagram. Loz
  19. Hey Gav and Bleach.... Is the Mine's computer in your skyline's a major benefit to the overall performance... All i read and see is people with the Power Fc so I'm keen to know.,... You seem to hate the HICAS system, i find no problem and find it a huge benefit to the vehicle..... Cheers Loz
  20. Anyone know if the back brake pads are ment to be changed in the compliance process... New Front one's were fitted, i wondered about the reat one's... Cheers Loz
