  1. Picked up my Power FC today. It used, and already tuned to the previous car. Does anyone know if its okay to connect to my car, just to see if its working or not? Or should I not do that?
  2. okay, well apparently my ecu is a manual one anyway, and the gearbox is fine with that, so I assume an aftermarket ecu which totally replaces a manual ecu, should just keep my auto working the way it is now
  3. Just another thing to add, the 4N71B doesnt have its own ECU like the proper R33 auto boxes have. I dont know much about gearboxes at all, but apparantly PFCs will work fine with 'mechanically' controlled autos, unlike electronically controlled ones ..... would the 4N71B be mechanically controlled? I dont even know what that means. http://www.paulr33.com/powerfc-faq/powerfc-faq.htm#6
  4. Just wondering, I heard that PowerFCs do not work with autos? I have an RB25det, with the original VL automatic transmission, the Jatco 4N71B. Apart from strength issues of the gearbox, will I have troubles using a powerFC? Its just that I can get one very cheap right now!!
  5. Just wondering what the ratios of each gear is in the Jatco RE5R01A (5 speed auto for the R33s)? Anyone know?
  6. Apparrently I am wrong! The R34 only had 4 speed autos. R33 came out with a five speed though ....... So I assume that would be even easier to fit.
  7. Apparently the R34 has a non-tiptronic 5 speed auto aswell .... I didnt even know that. Thats definitly an option too then.
  8. Hey, I dont really visit this place much, and I searched, but I couldnt find anything Do many people here put the R34 GTT tiptronic boxes in to older skylines? I have a VL, with a series 1 RB25det, series 1 R33 ECU (green label). I still have the original Jatco 4N71B (stock RB30 auto box), and I wanna stay auto. I figured the R34 box would be a good fit. I want to know whats the deal with the ECU. The R34 tiptronics have their own ECUs dont they? Will I have to move to an after market ECU? Also, I'm certainly no auto electrician, so forgive me if my wording isnt right on some things here. I just want to figure out how hard this conversion would be. If I could be linked to threads on the same subject, that would be helpful too, thanks.
  9. that does look better ^^^ I'll be spraying mine like this color http://www.supercarworld.com/images/fullpics/263.jpg VERY light blue. Although, not so ... bubblegum as your first color. I'll have a crack at taking them off tomorrow.
  10. Looks nice man! ^^^^ Any chance of the original pictures being re-uploaded???
  11. Hey, I have a series 1 RB25det, with the green label AFM, and the car was running rough and rich, and I just bought a second hand green label AFM, connected it, disconnected the battery for 20 minutes (to reset the ecu???), re-connected the battery, and started the car. It runs smooth, but still rich? If theres heaps of fuel in the system still, could it just be that it hasnt all been burnt through yet?
  12. Hey, I need an RB25det, series 1 green label AFM, in working order. Wont pay more than $100 Or a Z32 AFM. They go straight on and are better I hear???? PM me. Thanks.
  13. okay, supposedly VL tanks are 63L according to people on calaisturbo.com.au which would mean my fuel economy as of now is actually the same, or even less than you guys. I'm just gonna go 4.11s!
  14. This must have been covered heaps, but I cant find anything on it...... With my RB25det VL, I get about 400km from the 50L tank sooo, 12.5L/100kms And I get about 500kms in highway driving........... 10L/100kms The thing is though, I have a really low diff ratio...... 3.08s! I need to put 4.11s on, because thats whats stock RB25det powered skyline have right? So I was wondering whats the fuel economy for stock RB25det powered skylines, is it much different from what I'm getting now? My engine revs at 2000rpm going 110km/h on the highway, but I know normal Skylines rev at about 2900rpm... I mightput 3.9s on maybe?
  15. Thanks for the inflow fellas. I should be getting 4 elevens asap. I'll let ya know how it goes!
  16. would you or anyone happen to know what they rev at when going about 100km?
  17. does anyone know what they are? My VLs diff ratios are 3.08.... which is FAR too low for an RB25det I assume.....
  18. apart from a front mount, I wont do much at all to the engine
  19. I'm not too worried about what the cost is, what I'm more interested in is which box changes more smoothly or has a better feel. Which I would guess the R33 box would be a LOT better? Plus, I'd feel more comfortable using a box that was made/calibrated for the engine.
  20. na, Skylines are pretty common. I know at least 4 people that own a post R32 Skylines.... And you see at least one a day. IMO, thats what I call common, especially for a car that was never sold here new. Plus, look how many members this forum has, theres what? 23,000 members.... vast majority are Skyline owners of course. R32, R33,and R34 Skylines collectively are more common than the modern Monaros. Theres only what, 13,000 of them all up. I'd say theres more than 13,000 post R32 Skylines but anyways...
  21. yes! thanks thats about AU$34,500 converted, with todays Yen and Aus Dollar
