Hi guys,
I just made 420hp on 16psi from a GT35R w/ .82 housing.
Couldnt go further due to spark issues, But at the moment it is very responsive and very powerful!

Reason: Im over fast cars, need a tow car for my '06 YZ250F
Price: $14,000 ono
Edit: dont mind the date, modified an old for sale ad so I didnt have to recreate it

Cheers already been fixing up the catch can situation today
Those replies are exactly what I am after!
Cheers Guys, I'll update this once its all fixed up and see how it goes!

2 hoses come off them... onto the ground..
but thats how it got my car back, exposed.
Either way it shows the extent of my PCV valve situation?
Im sittin home now cuz im too worried to go out driving and booting it
-
Just a thought..........If the smoke dosn't appear until you change from 2nd to 3rd is it possible the vacuum created through the PCV when you shut the throttle is sucking excess oil (due to no external drain) into the space above the baffles. But instead of actually sucking it through the PCV, it is blown out the breathers?
can you explain this a bit more in dummy terms or via PM
I dont have any PCV valve as far as i know... Greddy plenum..
this pic shows the extent of my breathers pretty much. I have circled where the oil comes out... Plumbing this into a catch can will still see oil coming out of these as far as i know??
-
I am making 256rwkw on the run in tune.
I only seem to have this problem when powering HARD thru 1st and 2nd, soon as 2nd gear is over the smoke comes and the oil has sprayed out.
I am NOT running VCT
-
Hi Guys,
I am starting to get really concerned, but im hoping its over nothing...
This is the second time now when giving my car WOT in 1st, and all the way thru 2nd... just as i am about to change into 3rd at high RPM blue smoke just trails behind the car and fills the cabin. Its definately not tyre smoke!
Now after about 5 mins the smoking goes away, i pop the bonnet and there is oil all over the cam covers, turbo, exhaust. (This is due to my dodgyness with the breather hoses, regardless it still proves a point that a fair bit of oil is coming out the cam breathers)
Now my RB20 used to do this, but i always thought that was because the rings were shagged... and i hope that is not the case with my RB30DET!!
Anyway after reading Garys (SK) posts I dont comply with:
* dont have a catch can with filter
* revving it on mineral cheap crap oil
I also read the excessive oil in the head when greater than 5500rpm.. I can tell you now I held 2nd gear above 5500rpm for about 10seconds or so...
I looked at my head and there is a flange blocked off... could this be an extra oil drain??
-
Ive got an autometer oil pressure guage and on cold start it see about 100psi, once the oil thins a bit it will make 60-80psi depending on conditions, then down to 20psi sometimes on idle
-
i think mine did that to me today....
unleashed 1st gear, wasted 2nd gear, into 3rd and cruised.... tyre smoke and oil smoke then filled the cabin, had a look and i had oil coming out of the breather fittings (not correctly plumbed as yet)... i drove about 15secs with smoke billowing from the car
I know i have a bit too much oil in my engine at the moment anyway
-
she's got a non name 45mm external that really screams on boost
I havent wired my tacho in yet, but yeah it wouldnt be the most accurate figure cuz its is running pretty fat at the moment, seems to choke on itself a little, then all of a sudden it just screams onto boost
My speedo isnt working yet either, its cable driven and the drives in the box, but nothing on the dash ?? :S, going to jack it up and pull out the speedo sender, bet it's snapped the cog off the drive
-
GTST:
Wiseo forgies
eagle rods
2mm cometec (sp?) head gasket
stock rb25det head
greddy plenum
custom high mount with GT35r, .82 AR rear
I am told it has 9:1 compression
Notice on the graph how early it wants to shoot up in boost.. and in power!!
it is a world apart from the rb20, its just so nice to drive normally, Only booted it a few time but hell!!! its crazy
-
actually i never been to industrial areas... and depends how long a while back is... car has been off the road for 16 months
-
I would be one of the happiest kids right now
Run in, 10psi
-
I would say that all the RB25det boxes are of same strength, Possibly newer ones might hold up a bit better if they arent as fatigued as old boxes...
A cheaper alternative to the GTR speedo sender is the Nissan Navara speedo sender, Ive posted the part number numerous times here. It should only cost you $24 and readily available at your local Nissan Parts dealer. I think the GTR speedo sender is around $150 and has to be brought in from Japan
-
How soon would the 35/40 be on boost?
I'll let you know in a few days time
Tho i will be on run in tune and low boost
-
could also simply be fouled spark plugs... my rb20 suffered that a few times... Scared the crap outta me the first time it happened.
-
Did you post something similar on Performance Forums...
Here this might be of use to you:

Out of interest what if the car was complied with items such as the CF bonnet, and say coilovers? (15 year rule, or pre RAWS?)
Dave,
Nothing against you here... But a few times i've seen you post regarding being 'invincible' from defects because the mods were 'on your car when it was complianced, so therefore its all legal'
I think thats a bit of blind hope there and really wouldnt hold any weight at all... If a mods illegal its illegal and they'll get you for it. After all whose to say that certain mods werent put on AFTER it was complied... just food for thought
-
I saw this on extra last nite...
I bet they wont book you on the spot, but your details will be noted and later 'followed up on' once you are out driving and the happen to come across you...
All in all i reckon its a great idea to actually discuss aspects of your car and find out what may need fixing in a neutral environment with the people who will be doing the defecting to you.
Now i just wish i had a car to take to it
-
where were the parts posted for sale??
hopefully some closure will come to this!
-
Need anymore be said?
Though usually you get what you pay for, this is one of the rare instances of a genuine bargain. I think there are too many people out there who think just cause its HKS or expensive, that its better. It may not always be the case. As for the comparison I requote:
Its just not good enough for me to use a more expensive second-hand cooler that has less effienciency.
Exactly...
all these young kiddies and newbies to turbocharged cars think they need to lash out excessive $$$ and have big brand name items on their car for it to go hard!
I know a few people who have tried to tell me Garrett turbo's are shit and they'd only ever get a HKS turbo... what little they know
-
Just saw the engine dyno sheet for one of our RB30DET's (RB30 + RB26) with GT35R at 1.3 bar made a nice 632 bhp.:headspin:
What did the motor have done to it? Anything special or standout-ish?
How much would that translate to @ the wheels?
I'm very anxious to see what my RB30DET (rb25 + rb30 tho) with GT35R
-
expect to see more power than what you actually have
but hey your car already has way way way way too much power

Yes mate 420hp at the wheels, car feels very strong off boost.
I made 340hp on 10psi run in, now 420hp on 16psi, I know it can make more, just need to sort out the ignition issues by the sounds of it
