Steering Randomly Goes Heavy - R33 Skyline
Dean_HR31 replied to Dean_HR31's topic in Suspension, braking and tyres
Ok I just noticed my first post made no sense what so ever because i wrote it all in under 32 seconds at work. In a nut shell. My hicas system has been removed and replaced with a HICAS lock bar. I need to find out why my steering randomly goes heavy and am thinking it must relate to the speed sensitivity sensor and not the hicas because the HICAS has been removed...? I have done a search, but havnt found what im looking for because most people with SLIGHTLY similar issues are having them with their HICAS system still present where as mine is removed. Thanks Dean -

Steering Randomly Goes Heavy - R33 Skyline
Dean_HR31 posted a topic in Suspension, braking and tyres
Hey guys, Referring to my R33, the steering randomly goes heavy when it feels like it. I think it normally happens after drifting, or giving the car some general love. Im thinking maybe the sensitibity sensor.computer is playing up and gets confused when the car is thrown around and then makes the steering go heavy...? You normally goes light again shortly afterwards. Can somebody please advise what this could be as I really need it fixed before winton. Oh, and I have a hicas lock bar fitted, tien castor rods, sway bars, solid cradle bushes, adjustable arms etc. Not sure how thats relevant but im sure the hicas lock bar may have some relevance to the issue? Your urgent advice is much appreciated. -
Hey guys, My coilovers simply cannot be adjusted. Is there any way of getting around this to lower the car? I was thinking, if the big nuts im trying to turn could just be smashed off and new ones fitted?? Am I better off just selling these and getting another set of coilovers that arnt jammed? Please dont bother giving me suggestions of how to un-do the nuts as I have tried everything. Even had the damn coilovers out and on a vice trying to turn them with a 2mtr long braker bar after having sprayed them with lubricant and heating the thread with an oxy

I need new wheels before winton though (5th september).... im sure i wont have anything by then through jap auctions?

My meisters are sold mate... atleast i got what they are worth. But ummm yeah, f*** these rota's im not risking it. They may be fine, but still not risking it. As its mainly a drift car, i dont think wheels as beautiful as the S1s i had are required... think i might just get some D1r's in the exact widths and offsets i want/need, throw some new tires on and spend the left over money for a few more suspension bits... how can you go wrong for $1400 for D1R's in 18x10 +22 & 18x9 +15.....?? About the TE37s or any other Jap wheels ive spent day and night on ALL forums looking for something in the required widths and offsets for my car but just have no luck. Its a night mare.

hmmm Well ive now spoken to 2 dealers (one that i know personally) who have sold thousands of these sets and say they havnt had one complaint or rim sent back. Apparently they have been used on heaps of drift cars, hill climbs, targa rallies etc and have been fine? These guys have heard/seen the stories of these rims cracking and say the same thing Fatz - any rim will also break if smashed into a gutter. I dont know, i might give them a go. I can order them in the exact offset/width i need, they look se* and apparently work fine according to people who have actually used them and sold them.

So is the same level of quality expected from Drifteks, Lenso D1R's etc???
-
ok, so they apparently have a bad reputation for failing. Can somebody provide concrete proof of this besides pictures of rota wheels cracking on a car thats smashed a gutter? I know how rumours work, and 90 percent of the time its bull*hit.
