Was driving fine. Pulled up to driveway. Car stalled. Started it up but it idle rough. and starting to belch out black smoke. Tried to rev it but its putting and coughing. Turned it off and on again it seemed fine but now there is a steady black smoke coming out. Put my hand next to the muffler and black particles are coming out.
When I drive it it is still boosting fine on .8 bar. Checked all the hoses. They are tight.
Is is the dreaded Air flow meter?

well, im going to put my original back in, see how it goes, i have that exact same idle problem, revs drop, rise, almost stall, rise... i thought it was throttle body beind carboned up but ive since cleaned it and its still doing.. ill do it today when i do the water pump and see how it goes
I have an EL falcon Sensor in my series 2 gtst and its been great. I got better fuel mileage too. Havent had any idle problems.

Should this fan spin as soon as you start your aircon or should it only spin when coolant temp goes up abit?
And if it doesnt work at all what should I check for?

Honestly the Crank Angle Sensor could be damaged. SImple problem. Borrow someone elses and see if it makes a difference. The other thing to look for if it hesistates and surges after 4000 rpm is a boost piping leak.

R33 GTST series 2 are very reliable. Just use common sense. They are good strong big built cars. Even the ones who have the occassional thrashing hold up well.
If you are happy with it and there are no odd noises or leaks then purchase it at a good price.

Damn it. I have changed the Spark plugs. fuel filter and the OXygen sensor.
I have resetted the Ecu. The only mods I have is cat back exhaust and boost to 12 pounds.
I still manage only around 360kms per tank. And thats normal driving for the week.
WHY!!!!!!! when others are getting around 400kms.

My gauge never moves. Only like 5 percent up. I have had GTRs in the past so Im no confused to where it sits. This one sits very low even after hard driving.
Is the oil gauge Faulty? or what else can be causing this?

Yeah tommy that what Im thinking too lol. And for the mods and the condition its a very attractive price. I have checked the trading post for the last month and I havent seen a modded manual one at all.

Great cars they are, I have driven one as I own the 2001 Sportivo model which is turbo. They have 115kw with 240nm of torque.
The latest sportivo is a great car. Revs out hard and does pull hard when the Variable Valve timing kicks in. Leather interior and 6 speed. Great car at a great price. I seen them for mid 20s second hand.
And the toyota reliabilty you cannot go wrong. I use to own a Civic Vti-R. No way would it beat a Corolla Sportivo. Close but no cigar.

Are you using factory rails? SHould make custom rails so they sit lower.Factory rails are designed for stock seats.

Battery light comes on the speedo. Now it charges around 15.3 volts instead of the usual 14 volts.
I have changed battery but still doing it. Does this mean alternator is on way out?
Anything else I can check?
