  1. Bought my Stagea for the same reasons as most others - more practical and useful.

Did have a 96 R33 that was great fun, but coudn't carry anything (brief case filled the boot) and had no child restraints (got in the way of the speakers).

Wife got annoyed we were always using her car as we have a 3 year old son, so when Stageas became available, took her down to see one, she loved it too and we got one.

So now we can use eiher car and she likes the 3 child restraint points - yes more kids on the way is the plan.

Our son was scared of the Stagea at first, didn't like it and wanted daddy's red car (R33) back. He even cried when we put him in it. Then one day went to visit relatives, so my car was it and after a while, he loved it. Now he asks whenever we go out if we can take daddy's car.

Main reasons for the Stagea, practicality and useability something the Skyliine didn't have.

Kinda funny though that at 37 this is actually the first 4 door car I have owned and first automatic (even though have tiptronic). So from always having 2 door cars to a station wagon - what a change

    Cheers, Al

i'm the oldest. my mr30 was a bit worn and the forrester was a ---it box. son bought an s13 ksrec so had to go one better.

  2. Hi from Birmingham England - I've been reading the forum for a week or so with great interest as I've just picked up my 1996 Stagea RS Four V (got the electric boot lid lock and the pillar speakers - blown! - used the info on the forum to identify it). It sounds like the car is rare in Australia - definitely rare over here - so any advice to a newbie Stagea owner would be welcome. I've got a few questions already if anyone could help me out:

1 what happens if you take the plastic wind deflector things off because mine are cracked and coming adrift - wind noise? Leaky windows? (It rains a lot here!)

2 can I get new ones if I need to replace them - I'll never find them over here.

3 thinking about getting bigger rims - 17s or 18s if poss. - I'm no mechanic and just want an easy fit so perhaps 17s would be better?

4 is my RB25DET motor the same as those in the Skyline GTS - because I'd like to upgrade the induction and exhaust sometime soon (I guess the exhaust will be a different shape but there are loads of places here that will make exhausts to fit) - but at leased some mechanics will be able to help me out if I tell them its basically a long, heavy GTS.

5 is there any benefit to fitting a dump valve on an automatic - I'm not after neck braking performance gains but I understand that a good valve will prolong the life of the turbo.

6 don't laugh but where exactly is the turbo? I know it’s between the air box and the intake but I can't see it!

Finally - sorry for asking dumb questions - go easy on me and thanks in advance from the other side! :)

im from woolverhampton, been here since 1947. questions arenot dumb. everyone needs to seek some help because there are no english manuals.(books that is) ive had my 96 rs4 for nearly a month and it is only thru the forum that i have found answers tomy queeries. ENJOY..

  3. How fast do u think a mr30 manual skyline is?

i know i have had mine off the clock just not sure how much :ermm:

me to. right up to the stalk that does the trip meter thingy-------but before

radar and rbt. used to ski every week from sydney. bought the mr30 after being hosed off

on an autobahn. i was in some type of merc. even the trucks do 200k!

  4. Hugh,

How much you pay for your Stagea and what's your honest opinion?

    D

450,000Y about 5,350$A ex japan allup with new 17inch, 6months rego plus 12 months comp with shannons

bought thru prestige , kiwi , iamshe compliance etc, all up on the road $14k. Met an owner today with unit about the same who bought from dealer and paid, no bull, 25,500$.

drives like a butterfly and up u when you kick it. its not as fast as my mr30 when it was new but is a lot quicker.

if you want to buy goto prestige or jspec . they give you step by step instructions.

  5. Spotted White S1 Stagea. 18's :) Nice nice, out at Moonbi

    silver 97 s1 on mt tamborine stocker but has tv that dont work. the small brackets on the roof of mine are ror tv aerialsto mount. in the cargo section he had a large fitted plastic mat imprinted "stagea" similar to one i have in a forrester (worst vehicle i ever bought new}

anyone know where to get cargo mat?

  6. excuse my ignorance but???????

i saw it at the brissie motor show. There are several firms that advertise it in the Yellow Pages.

Endrust on the Gold Coast has a specialon it (electronic rust prevention) at present.

has anyone any knowhow on this?

  7. iamshe did the comp. all new fluids.

the rust i speak of is on the underside or the flor and rails etc.

    any ideas

another thing. look at roof near the 5th door on pics.

    wot r those clips for.

    the normal spoiler seems ti

o fit on the top of the back door??????

  8. The rust you speak of probably means the car lived most of its life at a coastal area.. Unless if snow can be partially atributed??

A good idea with any fresh import is to have a professional detailer go crazy on it (light cut and polish etc).. Will come up a treat. And of course new engine/gearbox fluids are a must.

  9. apart from rust under drivers mirror there is a lot of like surface

rust underneath. not thick but thin. is this because of salt on the

roads or from the customs decontamination?

i saw an electronic anti rust gismo at ythe motor show.

    will this fix it?

  10. yeah hey i had the same problem with mine not so long ago i checked all vacuum lines and no leak i then started checking everything it turned out to be the O2 sensor. hope you can get it fixed soon cause it is a bitch when it happens especially if your going around a round about and u got nothing the steering is heavy as hell

what was wrong with the sensor? is it the sensor in the dump/front pipe or the one in the cat?

  11. hey all

My new stagea has a problem.

    My new car pics&details

the car is automatic, and today when i was driving it, it stalled on me two or three times. was travelling at walking speeds in a car park and the check engine light would come on then the car would stall seconds after. I think i sore the O2 sensor light come on but im not 100% sure because by the time i looked down car had stalled and was in accessories mode. the car will restart with no worries at all.

anyone have any clue to what this is?

  13. Welcome to the group.

It's a good looking wagon. I like the colour, mine's boring old silver.

Here are some answers for you.

Q1. The fluid is for the ATTESSA 4WD system. When you start the car you may hear a wirring from the drivers side towards the back, it is the pump for the ATTESSA system pressurising the system.

Q2. The 'S' button is for 'synchro' mode. It basically puts the car in 4WD with a 50:50 torque split. The ATTESSA 4WD is normally 0:100 (front:rear) and the distributes torque to the front as and when it is required, up to a maximum of 50:50.

Q3. The 4WD light hopefully should never come on. It means there is a fault in the system if it does.

I hope this answers your questions. Some other members may explain things better, I have not owned my Stagea for too long.

I hope you enjoy you Stagea as much as we all enjoy ours.

    Happy driving.

    hello

thankyou for the replys and answers. I now understand why my son spends his time on ns.com looking at all the differant things.

    thanks
