  1. Okay, apparently the ECU's LED will mirror the dash light. Putting the key in the ignition the lights were flashing on the ECU and the dash already. I turned the screw clockwise then counterclockwise but they still mirror each other, so i assume its already in mode 2 to check diagnostics. I think what im getting is either "11" or "22". Im pretty sure 22 isnt a code at all . i have a feeling that i aint doin it right. I read the GTR manual and it seems gobbledygook to me. Has anyone actually done this manually without using a Consult?
  2. Your shout at the pub bro!
  3. still got any? is this a full kit (no soldering, etc..) and all you need is the software?
  4. Got some of the fault codes from "The Sky Is The Limit" pdf. tells you how to check codes with ECU by turning this screw on the side. theres all this other handy stuff for the Skyline too. sounds pretty straightforward. Ive heard of another method where you can bridge these two terminals in the plug for the Nissan Consult module using a paper clip or bit of wire. Has anyone done either of these methods?
  5. Nah, you can get one's which just screw in, but there are one's which come with little screws so you can drill pilot holes to keep it firmly in place.
  6. These illuminated panels were actually a Nissan factory option. there is a thread floating around somewhere here with all of the options that were available for the skyline and the illuminated panels were one of them. Good luck actually trying to source one for your car though, as im pretty sure people who have got it arent that willing to part with it (unless you gave them some silly amount of money for it). Call Just Jap or an imports part supplier and ask if they may have any lying around. Ive seen one on this Japanese parts site called Up Garage. couldnt read it though cos it was in Japanese.
  7. Yeah, the exhaust temp flashes. It flashes even when i turn the key to 'On'. Havent been able to start the car yet so i dont think it would be flashing if the exhaust is hot I will check the AFM though and the sparkies as well. Does anyone actually think it could be the spark plugs?
  8. Yep. I thought i would have to eventually check the ECU diagnostic system. I'll either bring it into a workshop which have the 'Nissan Consult' computer module or buy the program and adapter for my laptop. Cheers mate! I really should have given it more thought into buying the 32 GTR, being fairly old now and less reliable than newer cars..... Still open for more ideas as to what the f__ck is goin on people!
  9. cant say the same for my GTR. i noticed that the oil filter has been relocated to the front. go to Repco and ask for an oil filter removal tool, i cant remember the name of it, but ask em for the one with three claws on it. you need a shifter for it but they work best, or you can use an old bit of seat belt strap. when you put your new filter on dont overtighten it cos it can damage the thread and makes it hard the next time you change it.
  10. now that you mentioned it, when i turn the key to "ON", there comes a slight noise that seems to be coming from one of the injectors. not sure if it usually does this, but still not too sure why its blowin smoke which seems to be unburnt fuel if it does have a stuck injector..... anymore ideas? :
  11. I managed to get my car started after how many attempts (see thread 'R32 GTR starting problem'). still didnt know why it wouldnt start previously. i let it idle for a bit and noticed a really strong fuel smell from the exhaust. i let it idle for a bit and warm up, gave it a few revs and noticed it was blowing some fuel smoke. There was also a noticeably louder ticking noise. i brought it down the road and took it for a quick lap and i could feel the power kicking in and out. I pressure checked the fuel line and its OK. so is the fuel pump. i kinda have it summed down to either being the following: >Crank Angle Sensor >Gummy injectors(?) >The ECU >Spark Plugs >The coil packs/Power Transistor or something electronially anyway, seeing that the car wasnt starting a few days ago. I turned the car off, only to have it not start on me again just a few minutes later! The Exhaust Temp light is also flashing and i was told that it also doubles as a 'check engine' light. Would anyone have any ideas as to whats goin on? Has anyone ever had the same problem before? This is really ticking me off now, and im startin to lose the Skyline spirit. i think i should have stuck to my 180sx........
  12. SLO32 is right. i have exact same problem on my 32. havent fixed it yet(gotta get my car runnin first ), but checked it. the white plug looks as if its been fried a little on mine. hopefully yours aint that bad. The surround aint hard to take off. there are two screws under the cluster surround to unscrew. then there are four on these plastic panels kinda where your knees sit. Pull this panel down a bit and then i think there are two more screws. im pretty sure all 32's have same dash layout. where your light switch is you should then be able to have a look at the plug and clean it
  13. Really? so it could be telling me that i got a problem with fuel, air, spark, etc? If so, how can i find out whats wrong to fix it?
  14. whoa no way! havent blown motor! you tryin to make me cr#p my pants?! heheh. yeah i'll check the coils tomorrow. i got a friend here who knows a good mechanic who will help me out. i got no tools as im at uni i think you may be right about the spark as i'd sometimes be driving and then all of a sudden there would be a slight hesitation in acceleration, then the car would go back to normal, which left me puzzled. the little exhaust temp light flashes too but i read on a thread that its basically just a warning not to park in long grass areas. that wouldnt have anything to do with the car not being able to start. i think its just playin up. Just got the bloody car too, which makes it even more annoying. Hey would anyone happen to have a repair manual for the R32 GTR? every time i try to download it off a previous thread it never works.
  15. just wondering. could i actually just disconnect the hose off the exit of the fuel filter and try start the car to see if fuel flows?
  16. Cheers mate! i've bought a fuel filter today and i'll get around to it. if that wont work then i'll check if my coils are stuffed. the car TRIES to start but just wont. i definitely know it aint the starter motor or a flat battery.
  17. Hey everyone. Im having problems with my R32 GTR. Hopped in the car today to go shopping and tried to start it up but it wouldnt. It cranks over but it wont actually start up and idle. I thought it might have been my fuel pump so i turned the ignition off completely and turned the key to the 'on'position to prime it. The fuel pump was fine as i could hear the usual buzzing noise it makes. Tried to turn her on again but still wouldnt start up. Another thing i noticed was after trying to start the car the little symbol of the exhaust with heat coming off it lights up on the gauge cluster and starts flashing?! The onlly other problems ive had with this car is my aircon blew releasing all the gas and a slight hesitation in acceleration which only occurs sometimes, but im pretty sure thats got nothing to do with the car not being able to start up. Up here in Darwin this past week its been raining for the past week or so ALL day so if that bit of info helps? electricals maybe? Please help! Thanks People!
