  1. you know what, before you dish for splitfires try running a bottle of Redline SI-1 in your fuel. i know, it sounds way too simple, but try that first and see if that helps any
  2. nothing wrong with camber , but it could also be incorrect toe.. you should definetely look at getting an alignment done, and make a habit of rotating your tires...and yeah they'll be able to adjust your camber and fix your toe as well. but if you're really tucking your rears, you might need a camber kit otherwise they won't have enough adjustment to really fix your camber angle.
  3. does it only start to happen after your car is up to temp? are you sure it's not exhaust backfire from when you lift off throttle? this may seem super obvious but sometimes people don't realise
  4. have you checked your ecu for codes? start there and see if it says anything... i've had this problem, ecu didn't throw any codes...i checked all the coils, the wires, the ignitor, the sparkplugs, all ok...so i figured it had nothing to do with ignition. in the end i just added a bottle of Redline SI-1 to the fuel and let it idle for 15 mins then shut it off. started it up the next day and it still missed a bit... went around the block and by the time it got up to temp is was completely fine!
  5. have you checked for shaft play? my turbo started making the same sound recently, you can hear the induction noise, and then it starts whining like a hairdryer... its a stock rb20det turbocharger, so im going to have to upgrade soon (it's dying). your turbo may be on it's way out too, get it checked!
  6. use a torch and heat it up a bit. it helps ALOT. mine was frozen in place, i spent like 2 hrs trying to move it...so i took it to my mechanic and he got it out in 5 mins!
  7. ah, so it was just the limiter doing it's job then! thanks for the reply
  8. you're talking about the HKS Super Sequential Blow Off Valve (SSQV) it flutters/chirps/whistles agressively , when you let off the throttle....but if you rip on your engine and boost up HARD and let off the throttle, it makes a piercing woosh as it dumps off excess pressure and does it's job to prevent compressor surge (which will also make a fluttering sound) the HKS SSQV makes two different sounds is because it has 2 valves instead of most bov's single. the small one (purple colour) only vents at low-moderate boost.
  9. hi there, i have a R32 (rb20det), at about 200km/h (5000rpm in 5th, or so) the engine had a hiccup, almost like it misfired or something, so i immediately let off and it was fine. now im wondering what caused it? was it a limiter, or fuel cutoff?
  10. i just did it on my R32 (rb20det) took about 30mins, had the ecu out too, but didn't have to touch it. I used combustion chamber cleaner instead, and set the idle to 900rpm warm...up from 600rpm (factory spec) idle's much smoother, no more stalling issues with the hks ssqv, annoying stalls with the A/C on, or stuttering when clutching in and decellerating.... or rpms dropping when im driving with the headlights on and heater on at night. this is such a wicked faq. there is no excuse not to clean/inspect your AAC valve! THANKS INSU
  11. it sounds more like a fuel problem then electrical hows your injectors doing? try running a bottle of redline SI-1 through, or taking them out and getting the benched....and have you checked your ecu for codes yet? this almost sounds like a problem i had
  12. hi there, my rb20det has this problem where it idle's fine, but as soon as i blip the throttle, it's stops firing in some cyclinders completely and it shakes the entire car! obviously it's not driveable like this, but i have tried and it runs like a pig, absolutely no power, i might as well be pushing the car from behind... it started off as a simple missfire on WOT above 5000rpm, but has since degraded to this over the last 2 days. i've checked the coils, all register within value + i taped them up anyways, tested the wiring to each coilpack from teh ignitor and changed all the sparkplugs. MAF has been cleaned as well. i just can't get the car to idle or rev fine, without a cyclinder shutting off...if i rev it a bit more, it'll start firing like normal again, but 2 seconds later it could stop firing again. its very random and completely not driveable at this point. what else can i try to do? this is pissing me off
  13. I just installed a set of ngk BCPR6E-11 (Copper V-Power) in my rb20det....start it up and it misses BAD. lumpy idle that's shaking the whole car. god. how am i gonna fix this? i hope it'll sort itself out like yours did, but if it doesn't looks like im going to put BCPR5EIX-11's (iridium ix) back in, atleast those didn't miss till 5000+ rpm... i taped up the coils while i was in there though, so hopefully that rules them out.
  14. i am having the exact same problem... only under WOT and at high rpm, it starts popping like im bouncing off a rev limiter, very rapidly, it almost sounds like popcorn popping. my sparkplugs are new/gapped...this is pissing me off
