  1. Well the Greeks call themsleves 'hellenes'.. There is a second term which they use to refer to themselves, 'Romioi' which literally translates to 'Romans'..

Thessalonika was founded by Cassander of Macedonia around 315BC, built upon the ancient settlement of Therma in Northern Greece (It must be considered that ancient Macedonians were far more culturally, linguistically and ethnically closer to 'hellenes' then, than what they are now). From 168BC Thessalonika had been absorbed by the rapidly expanding Roman Republic and remained in 'Roman' hands untill the fall of Rome in mid-to-late 400's... (476AD if I recall)... From then on Thessalonika remained in the hands of the Eastern Roman Empire for the remainder of late antiquity and into the dark ages. After the reign of Heraclius (Herakleios) from 610AD to 641AD, who made Greek the official language of the 'Roman Empire' and made vast administerial and military changes that allowed for the swift 'Hellenization' of what remained of the Roman Empire, his reign is considered the transition from the 'Late Roman' period to the 'Byzantine' period. For the reign for Heraclius and onwards, the 'East Roman Empire' thus became the 'Basiliea ton Romanion' translated to Empire of the Romans.. Thessalonika was only then lost the Latin/Western crusaders in 1201AD, athough the city was regained by Michael VIII Palaiologos in 1246, it would be sold to the Venetians in 1423 in order to pay for defenses in Constantinople to repel the Ottoman goat lovers.. Constaninople fell 20 years later to Mehmed II, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire...

The term 'Greek' may be relatively modern, but Greeks have been calling themselves 'Hellenes' for well over 2000 years and 'Romioi' for around 1500 years... Proof enough to me really, the fact speak for themselves... Thessalonika was always a Greek city, built buy Greeks and for the most part, populated by Greeks, for much of it's history.... The Greeks didn't just 'stumble' upon 'Solun' in 1912 and decide that it would be a nice addition to the new nation...

Which greeks have been calling themselves Hellenes for over 2000 years? the Christian goat lovers who were forced into Greece and taught the koine language at an adult age alongside every other mignority living in Greece at the time. Is it so hard to accept that today's Greeks are just a collection of Macedonians, Vlachs, Gypsies, goat lovers etc?

If the Ancient Macedonians were far more culturally, linguistically and ethnically closer to 'hellenes why would the father of history HERODUTUS in Peri Politeias (34-37) calls the Macedonians barbarians and distinguishes them from the Greeks and clearly states they are not related to the Greeks!

why do you turn a blind eye to the fact that the ancient Greeks had already abandoned Greece and others settled in their place. For well known reasons the Greeks left Greece at the end of the 4th century but the descendents of the ancient Macedonians remained all while Macedonia was a Roman province. Thus the descendents of the ancient Macedonians lived in Macedonia as the descendents of the ancient Thracians lived in Thrace and as the descendents of the Ancient Epirians lived in Epirus.

  2. PS: search up Kosovo churches on youtube and see how Albanians treat their co-citizens of diffrent origin, Roma, Macedonian, Serbian are forced tos ell and move out, many people in Prishtina have been forced out of their own homes and Albanians live there now, how is that justifiable? how can a country that commits such crimes be aloud to become independant? the answer is drugs and human trafficking of woman.

  3. I used Salonika as that is its modern name, but yet, in ancient and medieval Greek it was definately reffered to as 'Thessaloniki', during the Byzantine era, Thessalonika/Salonika was usually the capital of the following 'Themata'..

    - Thema Thessaloniki.

    - Thema Makedonia.

    - Thema Strymon.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theme_%28Byza...trative_unit%29

These 'provincial adjustments' usualy occured as the situation both within the Byzantine Empire, and without, changed over the course of time...

Either which way... The city of Thessalonica/Salonika has been quinticentially Greek for the better part of 2500 years, a long time before Christ even... Right through the classical times of the Roman Empire and right through to the end of the Byzantine Era (1 AD - 1453AD), Thessalonika was always an important centre for trade, commerce, religion, adminitration and culture... That is totally undisputible, and for 2000 of those 2500 years, Thessalonika has been a Graeco/Roman city...

Kurds are far more deserving of a homeland, unlike minorities and 'political fictions' like 'Kosovans' or 'Palestinians' or 'Iraqis' or whatever... The Kurds have been aknowledged as being 'different' from their Turkic/Persian/Arab/Azerbaijanian/Armenian/Assyrian neighbours for the better part of 1500 years... Saladin was even a Kurd shall we not forget.. The Kurds have lived in in their current enviroments for longer than Islam has been a religion...

Please! when has Solun/Salonika been Greek (if i may use that term as the term greek never existed before 1800's) for 2,500 years? the only time it has ever become a part of "Greece" was after 1913 which was by force.

  4. What about the current situation. Let's talk about NOW, after the wars and the crimes of Milosevic.....

Kosovo has hardly any Serbs in it, why would you call it Serbia, when it is (i think more than 90%) Albanian?

how about the crimes of the Albanians onto the Serbian people? they are unpunished, how many churches have the Albanians desecrated in Serbia?

  5. Yeah right

Nothings ever that simple- Both parties at the border always lay claim to where the line should run. Just look at the situation in the middle east.

I don't really know enough about the history of it to make any judgements, but it doesn't look like the sort of thing that'll go away in a hurry now that the Albanians have seen fit to make such a brassy move.

Kosovo throughout history has never been historically Albanian, what happened in Kosovo is mass forced expulsions of Serbs over time who were forced to move alongside the higher birthrate of Albanians, an example of this would be in 50 years time, the chinese or Indians in Australia overpopulate the Australians in Victoria and declare independance. is it justifiable?

  6. Yeah, I'm with Serbia too... Not only is Kosovo populated by Serbs (I'll admit, a minority), but Kosovo is very symbolic to the foundation of Serbia and it's history, it is like taking Corinth or Salonika from Greece it is like Russia taking the Karelia from Finland... It just shouldn't be done.. If anything, Kosovo should be partitioned, then all the Serbs in one half and add the other half to Albania and have it unified with Albania, then no Albanians in Serbia/Kosovo and no Albanian minorities in Serbia... Simple...

Solun/Salonika was never rightfully Greek, the Greeks however do not call Solun, Salonika/Saloniki, the Greeks call it Thessaloniki.

on the topic of Kosovo, yes Kosovo should not have been given the green light to gain independance, if they can obtain independance then what about the Kurds, Basques, Cypriot goat lovers, Republika Srpska etc etc, are they too aloud to declare independance? Kosovo is a major player in exporting drugs and human trafficking, since 1999 the Albanians who control the drug trade and human trafficking have amassed huge amounts of wealth. Just proves that with money you can do anything.
