  1. Ho hum.

So... Registering things in the land of VIC.

The car was previously registered by its prior owner in VIC, however whilst it "passed" a roadworthy cert in VIC (i got one done by the previous owner), when i brought it to ACT i had a bunch of problems - since rectified.

However rules aren't the same place to place.

When I hit ACT i ended up getting it engineered with the following to get it passed (as well as having it retinted).

    Non-standard Rims/Tyres, 18x8.5, 18x9.5 rears

Non-standard Fuel Delivery System (Fuel Pump etc)

    Non-Standard Exhaust

    Electronic Boost controller

    FMIC

    Non-standard Coilovers

    Body Kit

    Strut Brace

    Non-standard steering wheel

Now the only thing to add to this is, it has a Pod (and powerfc). Although its mounted and has a seperator (not a box) between the pod and the engine bay.

The car passes exhaust in ACT and I'm not overly worried about that here, but the pod/FMIC combo seems to worry me from the others experiences here.

Basically - what should i do to the car before taking it over the pits?

  2. Seeing that the line on opening night was huge, and I'm expecting similar as news spreads on how good this movie is, I'll be getting there early for a place in the que. I'd suggest people do similar, as most waiting Trans' Fans (different from a Trannie Fanny, I believe) will get a bit p1ssy if the group storm forward and claim a spot near the front held by one person...

    See you there!!

    we booked our tickets online.

that way we just walk forward and pick that crap up from the red carpet stuffs

  3. So, I went for a blast in the car tonight, up and down black mountain and mount ainslie (twice).

Holy f**king Shit. My car sticks oh so much like glue now, it ooozes confidence in a corner. I figured i'd have a fairly different beast to drive, but this was just ridiculous.

I had a friend come for a ride and he simply couldn't believe the sheer amount of grip i had (he drives a WRX, slightly modded).

This was just SK's Bush kit (the lot, camber, caster front, subframe and 2x camber rears). Roughness of the car hasn't really changed, But its so much tighter now.

    Unbelievable.

Highly, HIGHLY recommended. Best $800 i've spent on a car, ever.

  4. What's wrong with it? Marc said something to do with the intercooler. Anywho I'll be there a bit tomorrow, should say Hi.

The list for this job was

    2x Rear tyres

Fitting of all Bushings (front and rear - incl subframe)

Fabbing up a new Power steering Reservoir to rack assembly

Fixing an odd fan belt noise on start

    Brake Squeal (when warm)

    Fixing the intercooler mounts properly

replacement of radiator hoses and coolant flush

    power steering flush

I booked their mechanic all friday and by the looks of things mon, tues and some of wednesday.

  5. I know I sound like a broken record at times on here - But i can't recommend Marc, Stewie and the boys down at Belconnen Discount Tyre Service enough. Sure my car isn't on time - but they get things done properly and keep me informed all the way.

    Seriously.

I'd recommend them for anything upto performance tuning/turbo work - even then, i'd probably give them a go.

  6. spotted nsanity's car on the hoist at goodyear tyres in belconnen. your car took time away from mine so i couldn't get my gearbox finished, damn you!

    OI!

I booked them well in advance AND told them to quote the time!!!

Not my fault they haven't got it finished yet!!

    Also.

Spotted Marc2's work pulsar in an odd location.

  7. I'm looking at a 92 R32 GTR which is said to have quite a few modifications which I have had the dealer list and have added below.

I would appreciate some opinions on the modifications listed given I intend to use it for Hillclimbs and occasional track days and still drive it to work. I would also like to know what to look for, what to avoid or change etc in order to get it over the pits here in ACT. What do they look for?

New slotted rotors & performance pads front and rear $1,500.00

    Fit $500.00

19" x 10" wheels and tyres $3,600.00 (I noticed the passenger side rear wheel sits out slightly past the guard, while the driver side rear lines up okay... could this be camber/adjustment or could there be something wrong?)

    TOTAL $47,070.00

The dealer wants 35k for it.

I'm not sure if I'm better off buying standard and doing some of this stuff myself, or let someone else do all the work.

PS: It needs Federal tyres on it though ;)

Uhh, aren't Brembo's standard on GTR's? Dyno Tune price looks a bit much ($500 is about what you pay in Syd/Melb), Spark plugs? who lists spark plugs? There seems to be quite a few "Fit" prices that don't line up with parts.

For that kind of money in a 32 GTR, I'd expect a monstrous hp figure, dyno graphs, and the whole driveline in tip top shape.

Not to mention the car be in good nick.

  8. Its harsh to say he deserves it, going from AWD grip to RWD would be a bit of a step

    On a track, yes.

On dirt out in the sticks, yes.

Driving it out of an intersection - You're a f**king idiot.

I have no qualms with people giving their car some stick, just as snooze said - pick a semi-appropriate place, a busy road isn't one of them.

saying that I cant see any black marks on the road

My Sport Maxx's don't leave lines - well don't appear too. I would assume they might if you smoked them.

  9. The thing that got me the most was that not one car even slowed down and this happened on a busy street, to check if the poor guy was ok.

Probably because everyone was looking at him as a hoon who got his just desserts.

From the pics provided, there is no sign of the road being slippery - you said yourself that the car has been freshly put together (i'd assume with decent tyres). It simply looks like someone gave it the boot down onto a high traffic road and is now paying the price.

So how did he end up almost wrecking the car?

  10. He means those lines that lead up to busy roundabouts (one at the major erindale roundabout and on monaro highway near chisholm)

I like them. One of the few things that Canberra has done right imho. Altho they are quickly reminding everyone that they are a bunch of fags and putting speed cameras in with them to boot as i understand (Barton Hwy, Federal Hwy).
