  1. It looks like there was an egt sensor or something plumbed in there in the past. Just get it welded up at an exhaust shop.

Your o2 sensors are in the dumps, not the front pipe.

I will be very surprised if that is the casue of a misfire at idle. It's no different to a leaky exhaust...

Atleast it ain't the o2 sensor then.

I might look around and see if i can find a temp fix till i can get to an exhaust shop. Need to get a new exhaust anyway so it shouldn't be too long.

  2. Hey guys something came off my front pipe. It seems to be causing a miss and i need help to find out what to get to fix it.

Attatched is a photo of my front pipe. I just need like a cap of some sort that will screw onto it i assume.

Does anyone know what to get to fill the hole. Unless it's actually something worse than a cap that came off.

    cheers

  3. I have a K&N filter in my car.

Can't really compare to much else but it was alot better than the air filter that was in before it that hadn't been changed in atleast 30000kms. Man this was a better upgrade than my 2860r's i got the week before i put the new air filter. lol.

  4. I just got my 1 peice put in late last week and it feels great. It seems to be really smooth and responsive. I thought it would be more jerky because it had no play because it is one solid shaft but it is alot better than the shagged two peice. I haven't really noticed any harmonics either and I have done some highway driving.

  5. not sure exactly most cars but this is how you can find out. whatever speed your doing look at the revs. then change to the next gear normally(with clutch so you can see0 and see the revs. next time you change from that speed to the next gear let the revs go down to what the next gear was at and whack it in.

Took me a couple days to get used to using all 5 gears without clutch.

for example i drive first gear to 3k and the get out of gear an put it in when it's at 2k if i remember correctly.

  6. You know he's talking about the track right?

And what do you mean change at the right revs?

I'm sure he doesn't have an issue changing at 4000 RPM, but its a track... :P

I would have thought that if you don't use the clutch and change at the right revs(track or street) it wouldn't make that crunch sound because it's going straight in.

when i had no clutch for a couple weeks my box never made that sound getting into 4th because i would have to change when the revs were matched and hence no grind or crunch.

HMMMMM... This graph shows that in 1991 when the GTR was in aus the road fatalities dropped. The 89 and 90 GTRs were still unknown at the time so aus drivers were still idiots. Then they heard about the GTR and realised they couldn't compete so they decided to slow down abit because they couldn't be bothered looking like a tool driving when the MIGHTY GTR started getting around on streets.

This is what i like to think.

  8. I had one when I bought my car.

Unless you are planning to race and launch your car at 4000+rpm = pretty sweet.

If you plan on everyday driving, you will burn it out in about a year = clutch replacement (Single Plate preferbley).

If you want it to last long everyday driving, just don't ride the clutch. This wears them out easily and you might have to replace in a year. This is also why they can be a bit of a pig in the city. I got used to mine and was fine driving it and it lasted me ages. It's was still in good nik when i took it off with over a year driving on it.

  9. My clutch squeeks.. ie worn bearing ive been told..

When you've let the clutch out does it stop?

After driving my car a bit yesterday it does sound like that. Starts sqeeuking as i'm diengaging and as it's fully out it stops.

Is it bad to be driving like this???

Ahh maybe this is a sign i should put my old twin plate back in.

  10. I haven't really noticed at what point it stops squeaking.

I got a jim berry clutch in october last year and have only launched the car 3 times since i've had it. The bearing should still be alright i would assume. I assume they changed the bearing when they changed the clutch.

  11. Hi guys,

I got a problem with my car and not 100% sure of what it is. I have a squeak when i take off. When i take off slowly it squeaks as well as when i take off fast(not limiter launching fast). I think it could be related to a whinning rumbly noise that sound like it's coming from possibly under the car like gearbox or shaft bearing thing. I have been told the whinning could be the centre shaft and if a bearing is going it could be squeaking when it starts rotating but i'm not sure.

Anyone have any ideas of what could be the problem and how much to fix??

    Thank for any help.

    cheers,

    johnny

  12. Already insured...at the mechanic now, getting ready for alarms/immobiliser and so forth.

Im really happy that i've got it back, cant wait to come out cruising with you guys :P

Ahhh this is very good news. I'm just asking my friend if they have found his s15. Maybe if yours was abandonded his might be as well. Only thing is i was already trying to convince him to get a GTR when he gets insurance money back. I guess he won't be joining us skyline owners.

Anyway good to hear the news.

  13. And by that you mean using the stock one at factory boost, right?

My boost control was as good as you get.

14psi on stock 'old' ceramic GTR turbos = gambling with your motor.

I seem to recall this sort of thread coming up in the distant past with a large number of examples of turbo failure experience poping up in it.

My stock turbos were ran at 14.7psi all day everyday and it has slightly lesss than 100 000k's on it. When i recently changed the turbos over a couple weeks ago they were still in great nick. I've heard of people blowing them as soon as they run 1 bar and others that they never go at 1bar. It's just luck of the draw i guess.
