so thats pretty much everything - still waiting on hks front pipe and moonface tie rods have been delayed (again) for another month, so waiting for some oem tie rods for the mean time.

Best feeling looking at all the parts you've accumulated before they go into the car....:

  2. Ha, I had a mate at uni who took his set of $800 rims from his corolla to get some SLIGHT rash repaired... the bloke was a panel beater doing some rim repair work on the side...

Dropped them off and was told he'd be called the next day with a quote, gets a call a few days later saying "They're all done, that'll be $650... Come pick them up when you're ready"

And the prick was threatening to not give the rims back until it was paid in full.

Small claims court with evidence of an email from the bloke saying that he'd call with a quote first... = gets the rims back for "cost price" of $200 and the panel beater gets told to stop being a cock :P

Job was crappy anyway... paint was chipping and fading after a few months.

SO GO TO A QUALITY JOINT!!!

    lol.

Pretty similar thing happened to a friend of mine.

Repaired 1 rim at a cost of about 900 dollars, but a new rim would have been 1100. He didn't take it to small claims though.

Agree with you re going to a reputable company. I've seen some pretty crappy jobs.

  3. havent been tehre for a long time so anything I quote would probably be under the current prices...

    Fair enough.

Not too fussed anyway, more concerned about workmanship if anything. But don't want to find out that cost of repair equals (or almost equals) cost of new rim. (lol, has happened to someone I know before).

  4. Hey guys,

Does anyone know a trusted rim repairer in the western suburbs or near the CBD?

My usual guy is on holiday....I need some slight gutter rash repaired.

  5. your sort of correct. a verbal isnt binding until an exchange has taken place. other wise every seller on the planet would be taking flaky "buyers" to court!

but yea when its this much money i would still take a higher amount, or at least give the original buyer a chance to match it or come to some sort of deal.

but i guess theres no way of knowing what we all would do unless we where in this position.

There have been cases where the courts have rendered a verbal exchange without a deposit binding, particularly so if a reliance is made based on a statement or portrayal of the seller.

But as I said, it isn't practically applicable, albeit, theoretically possible in specific scenarios. I don't think anyone is arguing that the OP is legally in the wrong though...

  6. *unless some sort of contract is in place.

Technically (or theoretically rather) you can enter into a contract without a deposit being taken if the seller shows clear intention.

Practically, it is almost impossible to prove until a deposit has been paid.

I think the issue falls more within the ambit of an ethical/moral framework, as opposed to a legal framework. Put simply, when you tell a bloke something, you should stick by it. We are all prone to errors and make mistakes, I think we should leave this issue at that and hope that the OP learns from it and engages in better dealings moving forward.

  7. For a forum full of males we do love drama don't we.

Okay, the OP made an error in judgement and went back on his word. This amounts to unethical behaviour.

However, calling the OP names, rich kid, spoilt etc, is no better and for the most part is just as unethical.

Let's all move on, is the car on the market or not? If it is, may the best bid win and hopefully the OP will conduct the transaction in an ethical manner this time.....

  9. Hi guys,

    I have for sale:

    Z-Tune style rear pods

    Z-Tune style side skirts.

These are brand new and have been painted black to suit R34 GTR.

I did not fit them, as they must be fitted to a stock R34 GTR kit and my car does not have a stock kit. So I just used the front bar.

I purchased these from JSAI, rear pods were $200 and side skirts were $300, so $500 all up (as listed on the JSAI website).

You can have them, painted, for $350.

    Thanks,

    Ali.

  10. 335s are dropping because people are anticipating the release of the new F series coupe. Even though that seems quite some time away.

So I'd say it is a good time to buy. Spend a few thousand on this site: http://www.burgertuning.com/ plus labour, you're looking at an easy 300rwkw. (I'm talking the older n54 engine, the n55 still has good gains but not as high being a single).

If anyone wants a ride in a tuned 335i hit me up!

  11. All the cars you've listed are at completely different price points.

R34 GTR will be much cheaper than an M3 or C63 AMG.

Your real comparison should be R34 GTR vs FPV vs HSV. Personally I'd pick the R34 GTR over an FPV/HSV.

And I'd pick Euro over an R34 GTR. The Euro will always be more classy. I'd pick an R35 over the Euros though.

Another car you might want to consider is a 335i (rwd, twin turbo). You can get an early model (06-07) coupe for around the 55k mark. You can also get it in hardtop convertible for around the 70k mark if that floats your boat. They are very understated from the factory and close to m3 performance. Spend around 3k on the car and you'll have 290-300rwkw easy.

Yet another option is the 135i, similar to the above but a bit cheaper. But it is the 1 series, so you are sacrificing a bit when it comes to the interior and looks (they're fugly IMO) and they have the stigma of being a girl's car.
