  2. Thanks Steve I'll have to check that out.
  3. hmm well the same thing happened to my bro... he said he pleaded guilty and didn't attend court, they sent him a fine but it didn't say he lost any points or anything. Then he called up to find out the status of his licence and they said he's lost it and he has to hand it in. About 2 months later he received the letter saying he's lost it. I just called up then to find out the status of my licence and they said i've still got a full licence and that it hasn't been suspended... my bro said it should take effect immediately after the court date (which was almost a week ago) so hmm i better keep my fingers crossed i guess. and for those that were wondering, yes it was considered reckless driving because its in excess of 45km/hr, which is kinda stupid considering i wasn't driving recklessly, just fast on a road where there were no cars, it was a long straight in good dry conditions during the day so the only person i could have hurt would have been myself. I pleaded guilty and said i wouldn't be attending court. Also, I wrote in the space for a comment something like "the date the offence was committed the new hoon law legislation was not in place and should therefore not apply" hehe I have a good history so hopefully the $300 fine and $100 court costs is all that comes from this.
  4. About 2 weeks ago I was caught by the police for speeding in excess of 50km/hr, The officer said normally they would impound my car and put me in lockup overnight, but because he was too busy (and basically couldn't be bothered) he wrote my information on his pad and told me I would receive a court summons and probably lose my licence. I had just got my car back from the repairers after the accident I had 2 months previously so I was very pissed off. Anyway, I got the court summons in the mail and pleaded guilty. Later I received the fine from the court and to my surprise, all I got was a $300 fine. No demerit points taken off me and no licence suspension! I don't understand why or how i got off so lightly because normally it would be a $1000 fine, 7 demerits and 6 months suspension! I am very pleased about this, in fact im ecstatic! I was so worried about how I would get to and from work for the next 6 months, but now I don't have to worry. This isn't to say I haven't learnt my lesson... I definately won't be speeding again anytime soon. I just thank the judge and praise the gods that I got off so lightly! phew wee!
  5. Thanks heaps DECIM8 that explains it perfectly I was wondering why I was having such a hard time trying to remove un-removeable bolts LOL
  6. I'm trying to replace my stock air filter with a K&N POD filter. I managed to get most of the casing off and take out the stock air filter but underneath I need to remove the rest of the casing where its attached to the 3 inch tube... There is some sort of adapter that has 4 bolts on it that are really hard to get off. What tool do i need to get these bolts off? and are there any guides (possibly with pictures) on how to do this? Thanks.
  7. Heh yeah i got it from Down Under Auto about 2 or 3 months ago Well the good news is they are repairing it and its not a write-off The Job ended up going to a place called Adaptable Smash Repairs in Lansdale... Cowley was taking way too long to get a quote done. This adaptable place said they were going to replace the whole front end p.s. Aftamath... first in first served nah but your right it is hard to find a nice one these days
  8. so you changed it to a lighter red colour? personally i like the deep red colour in your signature better
  9. nah i didn't get any pics of under the bonnet i was a bit dubious about tryin to lift up the bonnet in case it wouldn't catch again... it's been towed now so I just have to wait for the call
  10. yeah i dont think the towie realised the car is worth 30K... he said it looks like 10-15K worth of damage and I agree. There was some structural damage like the radiator was fully bent in and leaking, the airfilter was all mangled but the engine still looked alright. I would say they would probably repair it rather than give me a cheque becoz i doubt there is more than 15K worth of damage. I would really hate to have to buy a new one becoz it would be very hard to find one almost identical... that blue paint job is hard to come across.
  11. well i told my insurance company that i want a quote from Cowley but when the tow driver came and took it away today he said to me "it looks like a write-off" so I might end up gettin a cheque for 30K and go buy another car so i've done a bit of lookin around at cars for sale but can't find anything decent the only places I really know about are Autoworx, Down Under Auto's and DC Imports... does anyone know of any other good places to get Skylines from? also, does anyone know what would happen if it was a write-off? do they just gimme a cheque and I can use the money however I like or what?
  12. I gave Damage Control a ring they sound pretty good like they have all the new technology like an inverted welder and a robotic machine that makes sure the car is all squared up... except they are fully booked out for the next three weeks and they wouldn't even be able to give me a quote for another week
  13. Does anyone have the number for Damage Control? I gave Lombardi a call they said they dont do many skylines they work mainly on more prestigious cars.
  14. a ferrari place r u serious? for some reason i get the feeling my insurance company wouldn't go for that i gave cowley smash repairs a call and they are coming out tomorrow to do me a quote for free they sound pretty good from what i hear. i couldn't get the number for damage control can't find anything on them yeah north of the river m8
  15. I dunno I'm kinda puzzled by that too... I must have been going no faster than 20km/hr just driving around lookin for a space and then I turn my head and i've gone straight into a solid concrete pillar. I couldn't drive it after that the radiator was leaking.
  16. Had an accident last night in my skyline where i hit a pillar in a carpark (i know im an idiot) so I called up my insurance company (Just Cars) and they will take it to a smash repairers of my choice to get quoted but I don't know of any places that will do a good job of an import so does anyone know of some good places in Perth that do smash repairs on skylines? Thanks. -Here's some pics for you all to enjoy
  17. yeah because it blocks your view apparently i would have just span some shit like "yeah but so is the rear view mirror...and the steering wheel...and the frame of the car... but people can move their heads you know to see around it." on the other hand its probably best not to say that.
  18. so i guess i'll see you monday godthrila i've been told by a few people its best to leave it on HIGHWAY setting all the time. Is that true? Excellent Tips btw
  19. well i wasn't sure what i was going to get.. i really liked the look of 300ZX, supra and skyline so i took a few test drives and after driving my bro's new skyline and a few others I was sold. I think the skylines have all the good things rolled into one, i have yet to find anything bad about them
  20. Thanks for all the replies... i will definately come in tomorrow to beltronics and get it tested i was also wondering if heat is an issue at all? i always take the detector into the house when im done driving but for those long drives in the sun it can get pretty hot. I have a BEL XR btw on highway setting with everything ON except for X Band. K Band doesn't even register going past cops (i do realise some cops just dont have their equipment turned on but when you go past as many as I have with it not even registering as K Band then you start to wonder) umm i just looked at the site you gave godthrila but I can't find the opening times or a street address... all i could find was a po box. Could you please pm me with those details? thanks.
  21. I recently bought the latest beltronics radar detector for about $1000 from West Coast Hi-Fi but it only seems to pick up K Band and not KA Band or Laser, even though they are set to ON. I've been past many cops now (like at least 20 odd which should have been picked up on KA Band) and a couple of handheld's (Laser) and my radar detector hasn't picked them up. So either its not working properly or the cops are using some new kind of laser/frequency band. Thinkin of takin it back this weekend and gettin it changed for another one. I was also just wondering if anyone knows if they are actually illegal to use in WA - my friend told me they're not but confirmation would be good. Thanks -Bloodlust
  22. I was looking around for a nice turbo sports car, wasn't sure if i was going to get the 300ZX, Supra, or Skyline... but after driving a few and also my brothers skyline it had me hooked. So I bought a 2000 model R34 GT-T. After I was handed the keys I got in my new car, turned it on and listened to the engine purr. I then spent about 5 mins getting acquainted with it i.e. adjusting seat, mirrors, aircon, stereo, etc. then slowly pulled out of the car yard and drove around slowly at first just to let it warm up. Once it was nice and warmed up I tested its limits and just drove around endlessly for about 3 hours. I absolutely loved the handling and was very impressed with the power. But it wasn't untill the next night where i drove around with a friend at about 2am when there was no one on the roads that I found out the true power of the skyline. I'm very pleased with it and i enjoy every moment in it, I used to kind of hate picking people up and dropping people off (in my old car) but now I'm always volunteering to do it When I tried my first burnout in it I couldn't get it happening at all, then my friend said "does this have traction control?" i sorta just smacked my forehead and went "oooooh yeah... LOL" so I turned it off and off she went leaving a couple of nice big skidmarks I'm so happy now that I have my 'line
  23. I rkn you should replace it with something smaller. The only spoilers I've seen that really suit the R34's is the GTR spoiler and the Grand Touring Spoiler IMO (check out these http://www.slickcar.com/GT-wings.asp for example). I plan on getting a GT spoiler for my R34 dont know if I'll use that site though.
  24. Nice work Alpha LOL If you squint it almost looks real
  25. Hey, has anyone here heard of Extreme Tracking (ET)? Basically, its a GPS tracking system and you can use your mobile to lock/unlock your car, get alerts, etc. you pay about $700 to install it and about $200 a year to get access to the site where you can track your car. Looks pretty nifty, you can zoom in on your car in real time (updated every 30secs) so you can actually see the surrounding buildings n stuff. Also allows you to slow the car down and stop the engine (but i think you can only do this once you have contacted the police) then you could lock the dipshit in the car. Its got loads of other features I can't remember but I was wondering if anyone here has ET, and what their thoughts are on it. Thanx
