The BMW DBW actuators that are known to fail are from the later E9x M3's. They use a plastic gear inside which do sometimes strip off the teeth causing them to fail.

@Shoota_77 Thanks mate, good idea. I'll give that a go.

For those building their own exhaust systems at home, what is the best way you've found to make accurate cuts on larger diameter stainless?
I've started building a 4" system, using a cold saw (dry type) and it's been a pain in the ass.
-
I'm very interested about this too, I'll be building a 4" system myself soon.

Haha a "carrot" turbo! I'm laughing so much much I'm crying!
-
ABS is provided by a seperate control module, it should still work.
-
I can't stand that noise either, it ruins the sound of the car!

Damn, I hope the Coppermix Twinplate Competition that I just installed in my 8374 equiped R34 will hold then! It's just a 86.5mm/standard stoke Neo though, and RWD, so here's hoping...

I found that this works very well for my daily driving, but I havent tried on track yet.
Is there any difference in steering feel now that you are using the electric pump?
-
I use a wet crushed up bar of soap to get spigot bushes out, works well!
-
If you are very mechanically minded then it should be really easy to work it all out while you are installing it.

I would be really interested if anyone ever attempted to adapt a modern servo electric system to a Skyline, e.g. one of these Bosch units which are found in many modern cars:
I like the simplicity of these systems. I would imagine the control/electronics side of things might be the challenge given how different the steering feels on many similar models these days (e.g. different Porsche 911 variants), simply due to software changes.

Thanks

SOHC Power
Will an exhaust manifold from an RB25 fit on an RB30 SOHC head by any chance?

Don't know about Aus but in NZ you can put rego on hold (no cost) when the car is off the road and just resume when its ready to go.
As far as I know we don't have that in my state, unfortunately. I have kept it registered as if the government ever looks under the bonnet it's not going to to be registered ever again haha.

haha, mine has lots of scratches too from various garage incidents. I usually wash it once a year or so, its too depressing seeing it under all that dust.
I just decided to give myself a deadline of September 2017 to get it running again

You're an amateur. I'm 4 years and counting off the road!
I think my R34 build has now been 9 years off the road. And I've been paying rego this entire time

Thanks for that! I'm about to start building my 4" system and was starting to look at muffler options.

I've got a properly baffled catch can from these guys:
http://www.saikoumichi.com/index.html
It is unused as I ended up going down a different path. PM me an offer

If you don't have a multimeter, I wouldn't be attempting anything at all. Including making toast.
-
They are listed for $1795 on their website, can you let me know what you end up paying for it if you get it any cheaper?
-
Maybe someone installed one of these without your knowledge?

Lunch control... All you need is willpower, no need for a new ECU.

That will be a very interesting setup! In an R34 GTt? I've been saying this for ages in this thread but now I've experienced it first hand its more significant than I expected, don't be disheartened if you see dyno plots which seem less epic than my ramble suggests - even Reaper's car wasn't full boost until after 4000rpm in a dyno run. It seems real world is where they shine, which is where you want it to until you are just dyno drag racing.
How long are you in Wellington for? Sorry about the weather.
Yep in an R34 GTt. Should be interesting with RWD!
We have been here for a couple of days, we head off on the ferry this afternoon to the south island. Weather was great yesterday! And the sun looks like it might be returning now with a bit of luck.
