  1. How much for front 4 stud knuckles with brakes and control arms?
  2. For a start 1000 drug busts a day is ridiculous. You wouldn't need a chopper for every drug bust either, obviously. "- It's not the cops fault you're breaking the law - It's not their fault that the person decides to try & get away" No where do I dispute this. Its not my fault if you either can't read or are too narrow minded to try. Oh I don't think you could make the numbers any dumber if you tried.
  3. Yes I still can't see where it has been said. Try and read my posts completely while setting aside your predetermined opinions for a moment. If you still don't see my logic then point out where and how I'm wrong. Try and use some facts or realistic assumptions though, ridiculous claims like 1000 drug busts a day needing 500 choppers is just plain stupid. Saying this argument is getting stupid because someone has an opinion different to your own is a bit narrow minded.
  4. I can't see where anybody has said that.
  5. *sigh* Your grammar was not the contradiction. The fact you say that I'm "literally spouting off some of the most retarded claptrap I have ever heard" and then you follow it up with what you said is the contradiction.
  6. I just can't be bothered responding to this rubbish except to point out this ridiculous contradiction.
  7. I shouldn't waste my time replying to such an ill constructed arguement, but I will this once as you have seemed to be a man of inteligence in past posts I've read of yours. Choppers are obviously not the only thing police can use. They certainly don't need 100 of them and none of them would need to be in the air 24/7. A chopper never makes arrests, um, didn't really think that would actually need to be said. Police already do set up road blocks but they would be far more effective with the aid of selectively used technologies. A chopper with heat vision etc would help immensely. Computer programs that could predict likely routes would help the road blocks be more efficient and effective by helping the police set them up in bottle necks and the like. This technology exists along with a lot more. Of course it won't be 100% foolproof but it would obviously be more effective and safer than police chases. If the crim doesn't know they are being followed they are not running therefore there is no chase. A chopper can spot and keep track from a long distance. Yes this would cost more and require more police doing real police work and less revenue raising. MBS206, we could start a very long thread if we started on how the government wastes our money. It's about priorities. Fact is our safety is not a priority to our government. If the government spent our money the way we want it spent and prioritised there spending to suit then changes like this would be possible. But then of course things like healthcare, education, law and order, roads and road safety would all have to be paid for before the pollies could get their payrises, exorbitant pensions, overseas trips and the rest of their gravy. There are countries with much lower taxes than us that do have their priorities set more like this. It wouldn't take me long to save a few billion. For starters state governments should be abolished and we have far too many federal pollies. That would just be the tip of the iceberg, but that alone could fix the health system, education system and put plenty of choppers in the air plus a lot more.
  8. Its just the lesser of 2 evils. Option 1 cops chase, moron runs, very dangerous situation created. Option 2 cops don't chase, moron doesn't run but probably gets caught later on. I wasn't suggesting to just let them go, I meant they should be using other means such as choppers and other technologies. Police chases are usually far more dangerous than the often petty crime they are trying to stop. Stolen cars, unregistered cars, defective cars, speeding cars etc are not serious enough to warrant a dangerous police chase. Flip the coin and imagine how it would be where the crim sees a marked cop car that doesn't give chase but now knows he is being followed and watched by numerous other things including a chopper. He knows that running won't work as the cops have already strategically set up blocks on all his possible routes. No matter what the moron does he will only be doing it for a short while at best as opposed to long drawn out dangerous police chases. This senario is not 100% foolproof but it would both, catch more crims and be safer. Win win as far as I can see. Unregistered, defective and speeding cars that pose a risk of developing into a chase could easily be dealt with by taking the details and sending another unit ahead to their home while the 1st unit just keeps tabs on them from a distance until an unmarked unit takes over the keeping tabs. Point being there are many safer and more effective ways of enforcing the law without resorting to police chases. Problem is these things COST money not MAKE money. Safety is not the top priority.
  9. My point was duty of care. If an officer sees an idiot like this and puts the lights on and the idiot tries to run, the outcome is obviously going to be deadly. If the police use their duty of care in every situation they would not be able to chase this idiot as it will obviously be extremely dangerous to the idiot and every other road user at the time. If they don't chase they don't run so yes police do have to wear some responsibility for the consequenses. If they have no problem throwing their duty of care out the window every time they chase one of these idiots or a drunk driver etc then why use duty of care as a reason not to use a bit of discretion and compassion in a situation like soulblighter's. The duty of care excuse is hypocritical. There are other ways to catch idiots other than police chases. If safety was the number 1 priority many of these measures would have been in place for years. I'm not blaming police directly for this as its a joint problem caused by both government and police.
  10. Would it have hurt the officer to explain the reasons behind their decisions. I'm sure if there was no other choice for the officer to make, explaining that to soulblighter would have made the situation a lot better. Police chase unregistered cars all the time encouraging unlicensed and inexperienced drivers to speed and drive dangerously in unregistered, uninsured and unroadworthy cars. Duty of care is rarely thought about. If safety was the number 1 priority ideas like the pay by the month rego mentioned earlier would have been bought in long ago. The government needs your fines, they can't make changes that would likely reduce their revenue. I don't know the law but would think that a police escort would provide some cover in the event of an accident, similar to driving an unroadworthy car for an inspection.
  11. It is the internet, sometimes people exaggerate to make a point. Like Jawrgy probably exaggerated a little to show his frustration at not being able to get his point across. Jawrgy's responses were a little too personal but not really any more so than Zebra's comments.
  12. I don't think anybody has actually tried to claim the cops were in the wrong. They are merely pointing out how cops discretion is a 1 way street. Yes the fine was fair and justified and no the cop didn't have to help but surely giving them an escort would not have hurt anyone.
  13. If only this were true. A few years ago, before I had taste, I owned a completely dead stock VL Commodore. It was in mint condition with nothing that didn't come from the factory. It was white with factory 14" alloys and absolutely dead stock. I was pulled over while driving through town in traffic well below the 50km/h speed limit. 2 cop cars pulled up with about 5 officers approaching the car to carry out their checks. At this stage I had a spottless driving record and was not of P plate age (this was also well before P plates existed). They checked all over the car asking many ridiculous questions along the way which took close to an hour. Some questions included "Why does'nt the engine number match the rego sticker", it did match obviously but all 5 officers were too stupid to know the difference between an engine number and a chassis number. They did not believe my answer and this 1 question took over 1/2 an hour for them to work out. They accused me of various mods including non standard tyre size. At all times I was courtious and helpful to them as I always am when pulled over as even though I don't believe it helps at least it won't make things worse. I sat in the car the whole time talking to the mrs and listening to the radio waiting for the inevitable. They eventually let me go with a warning and told me to go home. I was once given a warning because the cop couldn't find the offense in his little book for leaving a car with a window down. My passinger forgot to put his window up and we crossed the road to go to a shop and was stopped before I had even got accross the road. The point I would like to make is not whether police from any department do a good or tough job but that they focus on trivial and easy to catch offences purely to make money. They constantly spout out the same old "slow down for safety" and "we enforce these laws for your own good" rubbish. Everytime there is a few accidents on a long weekend they come out pleading for people to slow down. For gods sake when will people realise the majority of accidents are not speed related. Of course cops know this but speeding is easy to make money off and owners of modified cars or hoons as they are now known are an easy target to blame and make the enemy. A few non speed related deaths occur on our roads then have the police come on ACA and plead for people to slow down while showing some file footage of an idiot doing a burnout in a Skyline and before you know it people are calling for a crackdown on hoons, increased fines and more cameras. I drive for a living so spend a lot of time on the road. To this day I am yet to see a speed trap of any sort actually in a black or dangerous area. Every single 1 without exception has been in safe obvious revenue raising positions. Fact is policing is a business. They are there to make money simple as that. If safety was their 1st priority things would be very different in Australia.
  14. I used pod filters as an example of something that is yes illegal which in some cases may be justified but in many not. It is however either way extremely trivial and in no way dangerous. Yet it seems to be treated at the same level as actual serious crimes like assault etc. Police have the power of DISCRETION, enforcing the law simply because it is the law is nothing short of ridiculous.
  15. Funny statistic, but 9 out of 10 statistics are completely made up.
  16. I think a few people here like NISMO for instance give cops to much credit. Quite a few times I and others I know have needed the assistance of police in non motoring situations, some of these were potentially life and death. They included minor assaults, serious assaults and being threatend at knifepoint by mentally disturbed druggo, among others. In some of these (including the knife one) you could count the police response in DAYS not minutes. In most cases the police did nothing but show up extremely late and do NOTHING. How long does it take to be fined for doing 65 in a 60 zone rolling down a hill on a 4 lane road separeted by a large median strip that no one can see why It's not an 80 zone. Or for daring to do something as dangerous as having a pod filter and so on and so on Sure there are a few cops around with common sense that do a good job. I have been given leniency a handful of times for very minor infringements but it is far outweighed by the number of times I've seen cops plainly abusing their powers. Policing is a business with the sole goal being to make money for the government. Is the number one most dangerous thing threatening todays society speeding by less than 15km/h on straight open sections of road with no accident history? Because this is where the majority of our police are. If you are ever in serious need of police assistance I would recommend you not call them but instead take your modified car out front and start doing burnouts, you will get a much faster response.
  17. Hands off, lol. I'm bidding on these. Currently winning.
  18. I want to know what width wheels are possible on a c210 coupe with bolt on flares. Flares are 240ZG style approx 3"rear and 2.5"front. I'm thinking of a 17x9 -13 offset. 9's look like they will fit the rear but I'm not sure of the front. Has anybody got wide wheels on their c210 or 240k? How wide? Also I would like a front spoiler like the 2 cars pictured below but am not sure which of the following 2 spoilers are the same (if either). Do you think they are the same as the white one or the black one.
  19. If you like the car and would like to turbo it after your P's you dont have to go 6 speed. There are plenty of 5 speeds that would handle a moderate 2j including your current n/a 5 speed. 6 speed is nice but not a necessity.
  20. That raises a good question, Is there anyone you recommend?
  21. This does sound good but I want to keep in the under 3L class. Does anyone have any idea on the price of getting a serious NA head built, excluding head as I already have that.
  22. Thanks fellas, thats the kind of stuff I'm after. I think 102ron fuel is the max allowed from what I've found so far. What comp do you think you could run on that. What are the biggest practical cams you've seen on other NA engines. I've seen 312' on a 4age I think.
  23. Actually tyresbro I'm not new, I've been a member since Jan '07, and browsed here long before that. Post counts don't mean much. And yes I have read that thread numerous times but it doesn't come to any real conclusions. Zebra I may be somewhat new to competitive motorsport but that does not make me a newb. I do understand how a curcuit car works. Suspension, brakes etc are under control. What I want to know is if my chosen car and engine, each of which dictate the other in improved prod, are up to the task of putting competitive power down. I'm trying to find this out now before I outlay money on a base car and engine. What I would like is people who have experience/knowledge on different aspects of what is needed to share thier opinions on cost and power. Here is a quote from sydneykid a few years ago. Share what you know/think about this combo. "One day I will put one of these into a 240/260Z RB30 block and crank 3.1 litres 13.5 to 1 compression ratio Polished combustion chambers 272 duration 10.8 mm lift cams Titanium retainers Tome valve springs, 55 lbs at the seat 2 mm oversize inlet valves 1 mm oversize exhaust valves Ported RB26 cylinder head Ported RB26 inlet, multiple throttle bodies and plenum Tuned, coned collector extractors 4” titanium exhaust JE forged pistons Carrillo rods and rod bolts ARP main bearing studs ARP head studs ACL race series bearings N1 oil pump, with wide flange drive crank collar RB26 water pump Elf LM fuel Motec ECU Motec CDI Mercury outboard coils WoooHooo……400 bhp here we come….and wouldn’t it sound good" Now it has to be under 3L so ignore the 3.1L bit. What about the extra revs of a 2.7L setup, would the extra 300cc of the 3L trump it?
  24. I am looking at building a serious N/A RB for Improved Production racing. Must be N/A, under 3L, Straight, 6 cylinders and Nissan. L series and RB are the only 2 that fit these and as the L series is getting a little long in the tooth I think the RB would be the better option. The L series has been proven over many years but it has also been developed to its limit. I think with some effort the RB should be capable of better results. The goal is 200rwkw. I expect that this will obviously cost a fair bit and require a lot of work. I want some opinions on what would be required to get there if it can be done. I have seen a few N/A RB's get around 150 - 164rwkw on these forums so I think it should be possible. I am not after opinions on turbos, v6's, rotary's, Toyotas or anything else. Just simply what is required to get an N/A RB to 200rwkw. I do not want to buy a ready done car as this simply does not interest me. I enjoy the design and build as much if not more than the racing itself. Must be below 3L. Must be a straight Nissan 6. Must be N/A. Must run on 102ron fuel as per CAMS rules. I would also like opinions on the question of Revs vs Displacement. Option 1. Rb30 bottom end Rb26 head = 3L. Option 2. Rb30 block Rb26 crank Rb26 head = 2.7L Option 3. Rb30 block Rb20 crank Rb26 head = 2.6L 2 &3 have superior rod stroke ratios and in theory should rev higher, but will the cubes of the 3L win out. I am collecting the parts for the build over the coming months. Obviously I will speak to a few engine builders before starting but would like to gather some opinions and knowledge from here 1st.
  25. Is this still for sale?
