Hey guys,
last night was stopped by a booze bus for the usual drill and caught what im pretty sure was a new to the force officer. She was friendly, inquisitive an great to talk to. Took measurements of my car to ensure no defects etc and cross referenced with her superior which was also great to talk to. Lol my dilemma, we spent about half hour talking meanwhile my poor baby was left idling and before i knew it shed over heated and lost bit of coolant via the overflow.
Had a similar issue about 2months ago, only this time i had my buddies to point out no fan had activated so in fact my prob could be thermostat. Any thoughts? Cant get it looked at till next Wed,
so i thought id try and get some insight in the meantime...

I am in the same boat as you, Dames. Personally, I love my V35 coupe but will be needing more practical car in 3-4 years time for expanding family, plus abit of turbo power for driving pleasure.
For that, I would choose a 2010 STI hatch. They are very spaceable (Groceries shopping, airport transfer, baby pram, etc.), not 100% track purpose like Evo's (Good for city driving and long distance drives), and..oh my god..they are so damn sexy in a flash with those pump out guards. All you need to make it outstanding is a drop, carbon fibre goodies and exhaust. Sure it looks like a done-up Hyundai or Kia, but everybody knows it's a STI now.
The sedan and Evo 10 looks nice too, but not as practical as hatch for my likings. I would only go for a STi sedan or Evo if I have another daily (Hatchback or 4WD) and have extra cash to spend on track works.
Same boat indeed mate,
would love to stick to imports so hopefully there is some other hot Nissan available within the next few years or i might even jump ship and go Toyota...those Mark 2 IRV's are looking bloody fantastic
in my opinion and will surely only get better! Very VIP-ish

Hey guys,
as a family type sports car who likes the new sedan version of the STI? Wasnt a fan of the hatchback but i think this model could definitely grow on me!

Easy solution. Put this sign behind your car
lol
Haha thats a good idea!
-
Always have commo's and loads of P platers trying to run me.
Most annoying is seeing them weave in/out of traffic just to catch you, then roll up along side and BAM speed off as if to say "Yea, stupid Jap crap is slow as"
-
Though i may be a significant period away from owning one,
i do wish they came in regualr manual. To be in total control adds to the driving pleasure as opposed to the playstation effect. May be worth investing in a decent R34 GT-R cos no doubt the regular manual will almost certainly become obsolete...

I'm planning a trip to Thailand early next year with a few friends, I know alot of people on here have been there of late just interested to hear where you stayed and what you thought of it. Looking for resorts in Phuket and hotels in Bangkok.
Try and get as close to Bangla Road as possible,
you'll spend alot of time partying it up there at nights. Also dont be put off by the thought of 3.5 star places, I stayed at the Club Andaman Resort and it was the equivalent of a 5 star back here in OZ. Absolute palace! Apparently it has something to do with cheap labour affecting the ratings. Also pack light, you'll be in tank tops and shorts the whole time which you can score off the street for around $5 (tanks) and $20ish (shorts).
-
lol... definitely possible. In fact there was an auction on Yahoo Auctions earlier this year for a device that allowed the V35/M35 odo to be wound back to whatever you wanted.
That sorta stuff should be outlawed!

When I bought my car from dealer they told me nobody can wind back the kms... now I know it is hardly to believe
. Nevertheless, the car is awesome, not depends on how many kms. lol. BTW, the rate for $$ seems good to shop from somewhere using $US..Can anyone provide some good sources?
Haha dodge! I remember 5yrs ago shopping for an R33 in Syd, went to this dealership and there was a clean series 2 M Spec with 45,000kms.
Dealer gave me all the spill, then i see this timing belt sticker which had 92,000kms written on it...needless to say he had no leg to stand on!
-
Yea i get that part of the equation,
but youd understand just like any car enthusiast in the end its just a number. As long as the car is serviced and maintained at or above manufacturers standards,
treated with respect and driven spiritedly every now and again lol thats what really matters.
-
I dont see the need for them to wind back the kms,
from what i read and hear from peoples first hand experiences:
(1)Japanese drive their cars just as much as us, none of this they only drive between 5-7,000kms a year crap
(2)They are probably the most anal people regarding cars, take pride etc making sure its always at its best
(3)Servicing is done all the time on time etc etc
Thats gives me confidence alone in buying their cars, naturally there are exceptions and variations but yea my 2 cents.
-
no we can't LOL...
I guess dan, you're a body builder? I wanna look like Johnny Tran fron the fast and the furious LOL..."too soon junior" he's a good build for a nipper like me.
You may want to invest in a decent weight training program also, by invest i most certainly mean download
Sean Nalewanyj has a great program you should be able to easily find on the net, will give you info on how to structure
your workouts, sample diets ranging from 2-6,000 calories etc
May even get shot down for saying this next part but P90x, mate swears by the classic program
and only using resistance bands and following it like gospel has put on crazy size and is shredded!

Any of u guys try the HKS replicas in the U.S?
Also theres the exhaust called the ARK performance dual catback exhaust in the U.S. . It looks exactly like the HKS, but is dyno proven to be better wid no drone watsoeva. It also utilizes an x pipe rather than a y or h pipe. Its selling at a promotional price of $890 U.S. The normal retail price is round $1300 USD. I got quotted $1400 shipped to ma door if i get in rite now while the sale is on.
Heres the link:
http://g35driver.com/forums/exhaust-vendor...__________.html.
If thats too much just go for the ebay HKs clones which are around $700 shipped but have lot of drone and also nt sure bout the quality of the welding.
That looks bang on the money for the HKS exhaust, i watched the vidz in the post.
-
Yeah my fujitsubo + y pipe is the same, just as quiet as stock but louder in the higher RPM.
Can feel a difference in power in the mid range, and to a lesser extent high range,.. but yeah. woulda liked louder.
I suppose its the compromise we make though,
its considered a sports luxury car and i dont know too many that are loud and proud. On the otherhand, GTRs and in general other liners are
alot more vocal with an exhaust cos of the forced inductioness
-
Really? that is a bit dissapointing lolz.... so at idle it doesnt even sound better than stock, but def no drone wen cruising? mite have to reconsider possibly getting this one too then
Ill admit my hearing probably isnt the best lol stupid clubs on the weekends! It is a touch louder then stock on idle, alot louder on cold start (obviously) but no drone what so ever on cruise.
Iv only done 10kms since it was installed so hopefully once i get a few 100 it will become deeper etc.
-
TuFF did you get the HKS Hi power ti exhaust?
Yea with the burnt tips, the true dual system as they call it. I wouldnt worry about any negative attention, as i said its dead quiet and that includes idle etc.
-
Powders are good bro,
especially for post workout and maybe even to supplement a meal during the day as most people find it hard to eat 6 servings of steak and rice lol.
You're looking to keep lean go the WPI route or even something mixed with hydroxy as they usually contain next to no carbs & fat put loads of protein per serve.
-
isn't the protein shake enough?
it's hard, I'm too busy to smash down more food and also you're forgetting I'm asian... more food more fat lol
First off i think you should get pen and paper, start doing some calculations. As a base start with 2,500 calories a day, split that up into a 40/40/20 ratio of protein/carbs/fats.
Laymans terms you need 250gm protein per day, 250gm carbs per day and 55gm fat per day. Check out these sample diets as a guide and tailor your own to suit:

http://www.maxs.com.au/index.php?sectionID...amp;pageID=1704 (RIPPED)
Also dont be afraid of cardio, most people thinks it hurts your gains but it actually activates other internal thingies lol to help you. Just a couple of times a week is ample.
-
Finally got my exhaust fitted yesterday, was only an hour worth of labour so $75 (not mates rates).
Bit disappointed though, when you give it the beans it sounds insane but cruising it is dead silent. Maybe to do with our short gears? 1st - 3rd is vocal, anything above is nudda! Also defintely no drone what so ever, this would be the perfect alternative to the kakimoto regu system mentioned earlier.
Hmmm wonder what my fuel consumption would be cruising round in 3rd all day long
-
haha yea i know what you mean alot of people seem to be jucing to get past there physical limits, my dad has reached his limits 110kgbench press whether he was 99kg and now 80kg's never could crack 120 tried many many times did all the right stuff but thats where he is limited
but yea shamrock is what i want to look like lets just say im setting my goals high
but even a smaller version of him would also be cool
i have 4hours free for weight on monday, 4hours free tuesday, all day free wednesday, 3hours free thursday 2hours friday, probs non on sunday or saturday as work takes over
as you can see if i have dedication i certainly have the time to make it happen
UFC look is awesome, even the lighter weight category like Sean Sherk. Hes 5'6" and 70kg, nice muscular but also ripped body and is a machine!
There is talk of him smashing the roids but i dunno...
-
Sweet,
thanks for that buddy sounds easy enough.

Hey guys,
did a bit of a search but came up empty. Google turned up this:
ECU Resetting Procedures
Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON. A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
Edit: Added the "Easy Method" for ECU Reset
The Easy Method:
After experimenting with different timing, and reading posts by other members, I've come up with a condensed method of doing this reset. This method works EVERY time, even w/o a stopwatch. I've used this method successfully a dozen times, or so, now w/o a watch. After a few times, you won't need a watch or instructions. You'll get so darn good at it, you'll find yourself doing it while waiting at a traffic light.
Timing is not as critical with this method...no stop watch needed. Just count in your head...one-one thousand, two-one thousand, etc, or use stop watch. The most critical step is step #3....wait 10 sec, instead of 7.
1. Ignition "ON", count to 3.
2. Depress/Release pedal 5 times...hard and fast.
3. Count to 10 (not 7!) and fully depress pedal
4. Count to 12 (SES should be blinking), release pedal
5. Count to 10, depress pedal
6. Count to 10, release pedal.
7. Turn off ignition, then start engine. Done!
Will disconnecting the battery be an even easier option? Or does anyone have another procedure lol? Thanks.

No problemo,
from what i have read elsewhere they do drone but that doesnt phase me at all. My Fujitsubo on the R33 did so and i actually loved it in normal day driving.

If you like the sound, look, price etc then take the plunge mate
Cooling Issue
in VQ Series - V35, V36 & Infiniti
Posted
Yea another thought was need to flush all coolant out and put a new set in.
Last time mechanics put about 1lt in and said the rest was fine...hmm have to wait till wed i guess. Defintely heard no fan on though, they are far from discrete so i doubt very much i have a super ultra quiet one haha.
