  1. i took the car back to south side engine center today

they did comp test (4psi of variance across all 6 cylinders)

leak-down test (6-7% leak down across all 6 cylinders)

put a camera down the spark plug holes to inspect the bores and condition of the pistons.

and all looked sweet i had a look myself!!.

conclusion i have been told to put my new turbos on

    put new O2 senors in

change oil and get tuned car tuned asap as it is running too rich witch may be washing oil from the bores

so as it stands i'm very happy with the result.

  2. i jacked the car up nice and high to day and i have noticed i have an oil leak

it appears to be the return oil line for the front turbo.

general area around is oily but not dripping!

i am pleased to have found this as i have a new set of gt2860-5 along with Tomei manifolds and dumps to go in the next 2 weeks

i hope this is the only oil consumption

  3. i have found another symptom

some times when the car is running only on cold start i believe have not confirmed this yet

if you hold your hand behind the exhaust you get little black specks on your hand i believe this might be the oil i'm loosing.

please share your opinion but i believe this to be a good sign that the turbo's are leaking the oil.

my reason for this is the if it were the rings the oil would be burnt rather than spat out the exhaust.

also i assume that this would only occur when the exhaust is not hot enough to burn oil hence only happens on cold starts.

    what are your thoughts people

  4. my new forged engine is using about 1 to 1.5L of oil per 2500km

compression test shows 155 to 160psi across the board

i cant see any oil leaks.

very little oil in intercooler piping.

have been told the car blows the blue/black smoke under throttle.

the motor does breath quite a lot (white smoke out of the oil cap when removed).

i get a (brown water) like liquid in catch can.

im hoping it is my turbo seals

can a turbo seal leak into the exhaust housing and not the compressor housing?

so i ask can anyone shed some light on this problem.

    cheers

    Ryan

  5. hey

    R32 GTR

    mods to cooling

aftermarket radiator 42mm or 52mm not sure

16inch thermo fan comes on at 75deg

the stock overheat fan in front of the condenser also comes on at 75deg

    normally i don't have a problem

but she has been getting up to about 95deg on freeway cruising at 3000rpm

but has no problem keeping cool at the lights temp even starts to drop.

    Built motor

    stock water pump

have Nismo low temp thermostat on its way.

i have heard of people having trouble keeping there cars cool with thremo fans but this seems strange to me!

thinking of getting a radiator air guide.

    any thoughts???

  6. hey every one this is what i was thinking.

the rb26 runs a water to oil cooler standard.

i was thinking of trying to make this set up more efficient by cooling the water coming out of the block to the oil cooler using a small oil cooler/ radiator before it enters the oil cooler.

you might be asking why bother?

well the reason for this is

    1. The stock setup all ready has a thermostat inbuilt.

    2. I could use a cheap cooler and worst case scenario is it leaks or splits and i only loose water and oil pressure is not lost there fore no chance of damage to motor due to loss of oil pressure.

    3. The overall cooling system is improved be having a second radiator even though it is small.

    4. So from what i can gather it is much cheaper. less likely to lose oil pressure and helps with the overall cooling of the car.

    please comment on my idea.

    has it been done before?

have i missed out something important?

i have up loaded 2 diagrams to help explane one is the stock system and the others shows where i would extend the lines and put extra cooler.

    cheers

  7. they are low mounts im happy to keep the gt2560-5 and crank the boost up to 24-25psi if needed to make 500hp

also looking at modifying stock manifolds to suit twin 38mm gates

do you think there would be any performance gains in doing this?

reasion i ask is i have a 3" jasman exhaust on the car because my Kakimoto Racing N1 Dual Exhaust cat back is way too loud for street use.

  8. just a quick one i have searched and heard good things about OBX manifolds

so my question is who has had one crack??

im interested in buying a set of twin low mounts for my gtr.

    also

i have gt2560-5 turbos now still on run-in tune for motor but was wondering how would a pair of TD05 16g's compare also they have external gate ;)

i would like 500hp, maby a bit more but not sure if the 2560-5 will do it with out stupid boost on my motor

    built bottom end

    ported head

    260-9.15 tomei cams

    all supporting mods

  9. Time to pull the head off and open Pandora's box so to speak!

hope its just the head gasket and all your piston ring's are still in one piece.

before you do fill her up with oil too H line,

start car and let idle till warm.

pull the oil dipstick out and give her a couple for good rpm's.

if oil comes out dipstick hole rings are gone and its time to full motor out!!!

    Good Luck!!!!!!

  10. it seems low to me i made 246wk@tread

turbo back exhaust (twin 3" kakimoto N1 system)

    K&N pods

    15psi

    and pfc

i would give the filters a very, very good clean or replace!

new fuel filter (Alot of people overlook this but i have found much better throttle response with new one)

  11. i disagree with the two above statements.

yes it you just bolt one on it will sound like crap.

this i due to the constant exhaust leak from the main pipe to the screamer pipe.

this problem can be fixed with a divider between the two pipes in the back of the turbo.

most screamed pipes you buy have a divider but it is no were near big-enough

to fix this problem i made up dome shims out of some steel sheets i had laying around.

i also used some exhaust gasket for the final shim to create a near perfect seal.

this took me about 3.5 hours including the time to take the turbo off and put it back on on my mates RB20.

the most time was taken in shimming the spacer to suit the rear housing of the turbo.

i suggest you get your hands on a set of digital vernier calipers. so you can get the clearancers as tight as possible.

so in short yes they sound like crap strait out of the box but can be modified to sound good but is time consuming.

you may experience slight power gain's depending on if you exhaust is restrictive.

also we put the rb25neo turbo on at the same time witch made a big difference.

BTW when done right sounds like real gate!!!!! :domokun:

    good luck
