Thanks guys, Ended up finding a place that was open over the holidays and rather than the fix up got them to handmake a new system, install a new cat and get the beast going really well. Good thing it fell off!!

Right so here I am driving the stag along and the exhaust note suddenly gets louder. I pull over to find that one of the flanges in the exhaust has given way completely and the muffler is hanging about an inch from the ground. So down I go and take the muffler off and throw it in the boot. Now I am at work with xmas looming and a stag that sounds like a bloody truck. Does anyone know someone in brisbane who would have an exhaust for the stag laying around and would be able to fit asap??? Any help is appreciated. Nigel.

Hell yeah, as of yesterday I have got myself a weekender in my mates workshop... I usually do my own services but when it came to timing belt etc I just cbf. Looks like I learnt a lesson the hard way.

Yeah sure did, I will have to get the missus to scan a copy for me to post it. It's broken down to like $760 for parts and $1020 for labour plus GST... Sparkies says NGK Platinum @ $24.50 each..

Lets just say I didn't get much change out of $2k, water pump wasn't done, diffs, transfer an transmission fluids were done, new sparkies, air, fuel and oil filters. I really got ripped didn't I...

Lube service, Electronic tune, timing belt, thats about it..

I don't if it's just me being a bit naive about the cost of things these days but I feel like I got well and truly ripped for my 100,00km service, i.e timing belt etc, on my S2 RS4. So how much would you expect to pay for a major service? In the first instance I will keep the cost and name of mechanic close to my chest but if he has done me over the sh*t will fly.

I had this problem just before christmas... It was an easy fix though... with mine you would be just driving along and the power would cut, i.e stereo, A/T light, (sometimes engine) whenever you put a load on the system, eg. flashing your lights etc. The problem was in the positive battery terminal and the regulator/ resistor between the battery and the fuse box. It had shorted out and wasn't getting consistant power. Had a replacement made up and haven't had a problem ever since.... 2 weeks spent not driving the car because your worried its going to cut out you... $18.00 for them to replace it and its all sorted. Hope this helps you
