  1. So his mechanic said the following:

For f**k sakes Kelvin, f*****g listen to me, it has NOTHING to do with the pump or restrictors! How many f*****g RB engines have I built? F*****g told you id explain it for the 10th time! Go blow up your engine then!!!

All that from asking what pump was in it. Is it so hard to tell someone what parts are in your engine or what was done during the build...

  2. Hey guys.

I have a mate who's had an RB25/30 made for his R34 skyline a few months ago and the head keeps flooding with oil and catch can is always full.

Any ideas what the problem and possibly solution might be?

His mechanic (the builder) wants to fabricate and install an air oil separator...

The build doesn't have any form of assisted oil return from the head such as a cylinder head oil return kit from head to sump.

I have no idea if the mechanic re did the oil restrictors to help prevent flooding and we have no idea what brands etc are in the engine. The invoice barely detailed anything at all. Same mechanic snapped 2 sets of cams and has had to fix it all twice at his expense due to forgetting but not admitting a spacer or something, can't remember.

Anywho, thought on the dilema? much appreciated guys =)

    Cheers

  3. Hey guys, might be a silly question but I'm looking at options for my next project build. Just wondering how hard it is to get an R34 2door shell, straight or with repairable damage and what I'd be expecting to pay for one, the more complete the better, engine and box not needed. Or should I just look at buying a cheap 34 and selling the engine, box and whatever else i don't need?

  4. it's Return from rail > Return to tank > Lift pump in > Main pump feed.

the fuel rail is a custom made 1inch square solid block of aluminium that's been drilled through the same diameter as the hose fittings threads. pic below.

My turbo doesn't kick in till 4,000 RPM so I barely use that around the street.

The cooler sounds like a viable idea.

As for the boot it's standard, only it's been stripped out, surge tank is on the floor on the right side.

  5. Hi guys, my fuel system keeps getting hot and I can't figure it out.

    Car & Fuel system details:

    *Highly modified RB25 with a Wolf 3D V4 ECU

*The fuel system is a Walbro in tank pump with pick up > 10L surge tank > x2 Bosch 044 pumps > twin entry fuel rail > ID 1000cc injectors > return line back to surge tank.

    Problems:

*The two Bosh pumps slowly get noisier the further I drive, their not running dry as I keep checking the surge tank and it's always full, after an hour drive you can hear the wine outside the car.

    Notes:

*The pumps, surge tank, fuel rail and intake plenum are all hot to touch.

*None of the fuel system is near the exhaust or heat source.

*Pumps are quiet on start up and for the first 20mins of driving before slowly getting louder.

*No blockages in pipes, brand new fuel filters and fuel reg, fuel pressure is stable, constant and accurate.

*I had the car re tuned from avgas to pump fuel (BP Ultimate) 2 months ago in Tas and have since moved to QLD and know that I need to get the tune touched up for the temperatures and humidity levels etc up here.

Any ideas or suggestions for my problem? pumps on their way out, AFR needs adjusting, or it's just in the tune etc?

Thanks for any help and suggestions guys =)

    Scott

  6. Hey guys, I'm trying to track down a Do-Luck wing for a mates R34 that already has the Do-Luck kit, doesn't matter if it's the one that sits down low or on the stands, just trying to find one. Any help or info would be great, cheers =)

  7. not sure about a 34 tank but a 33's pump isn't too deep inside the tank, if their roughly the same follow the wires that go down into the tank, the pump should be toward the rear seat side of the tank on a bracket about half an arms length inside the tank, it's mounted to a slip on bracket so it all just lifts up off the bracket and slides back in =)

  8. Selling x6 Power Enterprise 850cc side feed injectors, literally only used for about 30mins, can supply with RB25 standard fuel rail $150each new, selling the lot for $500 free post.

Also a set of x6 Bosch Blue Collar 1600cc top feed injectors, used for about 3-4,000km $250

All injectors have been checked and tested.

Selling the 850s as I want top feeds to use with my custom fuel rail.

Selling 1600s as their too big for what i need (going from avgas to pump fuel).

  9. All this car theft (90% skylines) gets me pretty peeved! there's been 5 skylines stolen around Launceston Tasmania in the last 2 weeks with only 1 recovered (rattle canned black and slapped on some shit wing) I'd cut sick if someone stole one of my skylines, specially the one I spent 2 1/2 years building myself, went without SO much to get it to where it is on my rather crap wage lol. To have it stolen or taken away from me would pretty much make me cry and want to harm the theif.

  10. Their down in Hobart yea? I live in Launnie but willing to travel or even send it to Melbourne. Have always been told not to go near Boost, but Brother actually called me 10 mins ago telling me to go see Brad because he built a 'fussy' rb2630 for a mate... So guess I'll look into it =) Cheers

  11. Hi guys, I am wanting to build an RB25/30 for my project car, have it all planned out, am getting the parts together and I know what needs doing.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a mechanic anywhere in Tassie who knows how to and can build one bottom to top and actually put 'TLC' into their work, do a good job and be fussy about it instead of just slapping it all together??

  12. Thanks Dale =) pretty much what I had in mind then, thanks for confirming =) and yes, will definitely be doing an oil pump upgrade and fully rebuilt bottom including rods.

"Actually, when you look over the 30DET build guide, and a few threads in this section, I would think it's highly advisable to check approaches and results from others, and your own build plan and mechanical specs will become much clearer. GL and update as you go along."

Good iea, I'll do just that =) Thanks for the help / advice

  13. Hi guys,

Looking to start building a 25/30 (my first one) for my project in the next 2-3 months. First off I live in TAS, so there's no specialist mechanics and what not here for this kind of build (but there are good mechanics).

So I am doing as much research as I can before I start.

Yes I have read and looked over every 25/30 thread I can find on here and working on getting my head around it all =)

Am having a little trouble getting my head around the VCT / VVT and the whole oil pressure thing and what to do with my build. There are just so many different ways and methods on here that people have done and how to go about it that I am at a loss with what to do.

My 25 head is NOT the Neo model and has Tomei 270 procams, springs and lifters, new valves might be on the go too. Engine is running 950cc injectors and a Garrett T04Z turbo with Wolf 3D Ver 4 ECU.

My question is: what is your recommendation for the VCT? delete or keep? Oil Drain Back? etc.

2 links that have caught my eye are:

    http://www.skylinesa...al-oil-control/

    and

    http://www.spoolimpo...d-oil-drain-kit

please have a glance over the first link at least for me =)

Would LOVE all the help, advice and feedback I can get =) Thanks much SAU

  14. 1st is much taller in the OTHER gearset. That will mean more clutch slipping and possibly more time spent below boost making revs before it comes on boost. The problem with saying that is that the ratio is higher, so you wil be loading the engine a lot harder than with the SKYLINE gearset, so the boost threshold will be at lower revs. My guesstimate on that is that it would take slightly longer time in total to come on boost, although it will do so at lower revs, and then it will run through to a much higher speed before needing to change to 2nd and it will probably make a little more boost (assuming your boost is not being clamped is 1st by a boost controller with both gearsets - it's often hard to get full boost in 1st), and it will run through to redline slower than the Skyline gearset will. It will quite possibly get better traction with the OTHER gearset in 1st.

Every other gear is essentially the same ratio, so you wouldn't notice any change.

    Ok I think I get that =)

I plan to have it as a weekend car, so how do you think It'd go with the OTHER gearset for every day driving and when I'd like to put my foot down now and then? even a guess would be great =)
