  1. Hey SAU =)

Just a quick question. I'm kinda retarded with knowing gear ratios and was just wondering what the difference in these two sets will be with the SAME diff ratio, as in what would it do to my car / driving...?

Not sure if the Skyline R33 ratios are exact, it's the closes i could find on forums.

    >>Note: The engine is an RB30/25 with a Garrett T04Z and Tomei 270 cams<<

    SKYLINE OTHER

    1st - 3.32 1 st - 2.66

    2nd - 1.90 2nd - 1.78

    3rd - 1.30 3rd - 1.30

    4th - 1.00 4th - 1.00

    5th - 0.75 5th - 0.74

    Diff - 4.11 Diff - 4.11

Cheers in advance for any help =)

  2. i have a question about using pva glue as a mould release.

should i let the pva glue dry completely til it hardens and then apply fibreglass and resin?

ps. sorry for hijacking thread, my question seems relevant and i didnt want to start a new thread for one question.

    thanks for help

I've never tried that but personally I'd use the alfoil of gladwrap / clingwrap method, or you can get Mould Release Wax on ebay, it's pretty cheap too at around $5 for a small lot, just brush it on, glass it up, wait till it's dry and remove =) I get all my Fiberglass supplies from Composite Supplies on Ebay, great products and prices =)

  3. Fiberglassing is pretty easy, I'm self taught through forums, videos, trial and error, have made dashes, trims, HEAPS of repairs and even custom body kit parts.

The foam is best to be taken off, can be frustrating to tear off at times but if you slap glass and bog over top you'll have a lot of fitment issues.

The actual shape of the dash under the foam can differ a lot from what you see on top but you can fix all that and shape it how you like with MDF and cloth =)

This is a dash I'm currently making for a mate, nearly ready for primer, filler and final sand before paint =) It is different but yea =P

Also pays to FIX the fiberglass to the actual dash to prevent cracks or movement, for example, rough up the plastic with the roughest sandpaper you can get or drill a few small holes here and there to make an anchoring point and glass a little underneath, or even rivets or flat headed screws.

  4. Hey guys, decided to tidy up the clutter and mess or poorly installed wired and gear hidden up under my dash while it's out and I stumbled along this but have no idea what it is, what it's for or even what it was wired in to =S

It has a little fork type thing that slides or swivels left to right. It was just shoved up somewhere so have no idea where it goes either, if anywhere.

Can anyone enlighten me on what it is or might be or if it's just junk (don't want to throw if it it's needed) =)

    ( sorry for image size >.< )

  5. hey mate, i've got 2 sets of full boot trim and all the clips and plugs if you'd like them, (for a Skyline R33 2 door model) free of charge, would just need postage as I live in TAS =)

as for the dash and coolant screws, can't find anything at a hardware shop or a nuts n bolts type place

  6. Hey guys, as the post says, I'm after an R33 passenger door exterior window seal, the black strip that runs along the top of the door, with or without the clips. As i bent mine and can't repair it =(

If anyone could hook me up with one or direct me to one it'd be greatly appreciated =D

    Cheers guys.

  7. Hey guys, really needing some help if someone out there is smart enough, I've tried researching and trying to learn but it all gets me confused =S

Anywho, long story short I'm currently building an R33 GTS-T RB25/30 with a custom wide body that i'm making myself lookin pretty sweet fiberglass btw, scissor doors etc, all metal fenders etc retained.

So the front body is 1 1/2" wider than original body, looking for wheel to sit out 1" past the original body.

and the rear body is 2" wider than original body, looking for wheel to sit 1 1/2" past the original body.

I have no problem at all rolling the front guards to fit, whatever it takes

I have no problem cutting and welding the rear arches to fit wide wheels past original arch (I'm a welder by trade)

Also after a decent dish! at the moment the car has 17" Sparco Racing rims can't remember width and offset.

wheels also have to get around the brakes without spacers / adapters

if you understand this and what I'm after, please help, I'm happy to take measurements, answer questions, etc.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated, just wanting to know if anyone has any idea what sizes and offsets i'd be looking for when searching for my wheels =)

  8. youd need some serious offset to fill those guards properly. something like these

    6440P9011033.JPG

WEDS Kranze Cerberus II, 18x10-25 fronts, 18x11-30 rears

their insane! just look at the size of that DISH! so where do I look at for a set of wheels?

  9. Hey guys, I'm just after some quick help or advice.

I'm currently building my second R33GTS-T but this time I'm going all out with everything on the car.

But to cut short I have a full veilside bodykit including wing (yes i know, but i like the out there shape)

Also have the "T Style" bonnet from www.carmate.com.au but with the middle cut out and 10mm clear perspex in it's place (still has all the same shape)

And to make things interesting I'm also hand crafting a wide bodykit for the car, nearly finished 1 side (front drivers fender, door and rear quater) looks something like the attached pic (fender, door and rear) but with the veilside kit. The R33 looks awesome and fat with a wide kit, I'm really loving it =)

Anyways I know stuff all about wheels =( all I know is i'm after something with a deep dish, preferably chrome (don't want black) and that the front fender is +1" and the rear is +2 on the original body.

I'm after some help or advice on what to get or where to look or rim sizes.

  10. Hey guys, just a quick question.

I'm currently working on an R33 for my project car and I'm wanting to change the color of the interior door panels and pillars...

But I don't really want to get them re-trimmed in leather or vinyl etc. I live in Tassie so things like that are expensive for me.

Already got full leather interior minus the doors, pillars and floor (not doing floor =P) any suggestions as to what I can do?

Not sure about that vinyl paint in pressure pack as a friend did it and it seemed to scratch and rub off easily.

I'm pretty handy with the HVLP spray guns, but i'm no spray painter |>metal engineer actually ;-) <|

If a re-trim is my only option though then so be it, but thought I'd ask just in case.

Cheers in advance for any help =)

  11. Hey guys, final offers on a few parts off my current R33 project car. no idea what kit/s they are but I'm selling a Front bar (with grille), Rear bar, side skirts (pair) and a spoiler.

full kit is plastic, not fiberglass.

Side skirts have a crack in each of them in the same place that I didn't even know was there till I pulled them off the car, easily repairable.

Spoiler just needs a new coat of clear as it's started peeling.

Rear bar is in clean neat condition.

Front bar is just as good. lights included.

    Located in Launceston Tasmania

Postage / courier from my place to yours is up around $300 per item =(

Where as airport to airport is from $20 to $35 anywhere in aus but means you would need to pick items up from your airport.

Make offers, first reasonable ones will have the desired item.

    Cheers,

    Scott

  16. Sorry, am new to these forums >.< didn't know i could browse n buy things off here. and yea i knew it wouldn't be easy and all the problems of doing it that way. But thanks for all your help guys =) i'll grab one a little later, far too busy with other things on the car at the moment, wanting to get it all done, fixed and on the road by christmas =P seein as i'm an apprentice i'm not exactly made of $ so it's my work on a weekend n keep me busy car =)

    Cheers guys

  17. yea, i thought about that but i got no idea where to get one from, i live in launcaston Tas n there's not much around here as far as buying parts for imports n such, also thought we could whip up something a lil different n a bit trippy for it, but i suppose that would save me time and mucking around =P plus i'm not sure the factory one would fit anymore now that it has a DVD and screen sitting in there in custom made mounts n stuff =(

  18. Hey guys, my 94 GTS-T has the dash pulled out at the moment as it is having the vinyl on it re done as it had shrunk and torn. Anyways, my car never had any dials, knobs etc for the air con and well it's a right pain in winter when the car fogs up and u gotta wind down the windows to demist it =(

So while the dash is out if I can I would like to try and do a kind of DIY setup for the AC things. Got all the wires / loom in the car for it but I can't seem to find a wiring diagram or anything for it anywhere. I have my uncle who's an auto electrician but he said it'd make it a LOT easier and save a LOT of time and stuffing around if i could find one.

It's my first skyline and a project car and needs a lil work and TLC but it's getting there =)

So if anyone could help me out with this in any way it would be much appreciated =D

    Cheers guys

    and gals >.<

Oh and don't mind the oil on the floor... the gage was leaking, fixed now =D
