  1. Start at any recent changes.

If you have not changed anything AT ALL, then check how tight the fuses are, as I have seen loose fuse cause this issue (especially if the clock is resetting as well).

Failing the fuse, as Chris has said, check the cabling for the head unit, make sure there is no exposed wiring anywhere in the general area, and then work back.

  2. Someone has broken their car, Nissan has deamed they where f*kwits and therefore wont honour a warranty, and now him and his drunk mates have fabricated up some stories to cause issues.

Yes, the box broke, but there is only a few imes you can 100% stress a mechanical part of the vehicle before it gives way.

Ohh and I love the strong posts from regular members here supporting the new vehicle and asking for time, then you get the 1 post members who's first post is "I am going to trade my <insert expensive vehicle here> but now that I have to think about it".

Pfft, single post members with no credibility.

  3. As I have said before, there are arsehole cops, no doubting that, these cops have attitudes, think they are god's gift, and will go over you like a mofo to pick everything, but guess what, you had to have done something to catch the attention of the cop in the first place (step back, look at the car, was it the skirts, the tires that vanish under the guards, the massive ricer wing you have on your boot, or the smoke blowing out of your exhaust??).

There are also good cops, they will pull you over for an RBT, run your licence, and if there is no issues, off you go, even though your sitting there with a 5" cannon that is clearly not quietening a straight through non-cat exahsut system on a straight 6 twin turbocharged car.

I have had both types of cops, from the ones pulling me over because the car caught their eye so they thought they would go to town on me, through to cops that haven't given a shit and left me alone.

The last 3 cars have been imported turboharged cars, and I have only been pulled over twice (combined) in these cars.

99% of the time, it's not the cop, but that 1% of the time, you probably didn't help the cop to not notice you.

  4. I love threads like this, funniest thing, an actual cop comes in to tell of a moron he has pulled over, impounded, and taken off the streets for obvious stupidity and dangerous driving, not to mention driving on a suspended licence (that's an immediate date with the magistrate), which also voids all insurance meaning if he hits your car, you are stuck with the excess and repair costs plus inconvenience while off the road.

Yet after someone removes this fckwit from the roads and tells us, we get the children and cop-wingers come in saying stupid shit like "are you happy, you where obviously stinging to impound the car" and just talking bullshit about the cop's job.

Story Time: When I was 17, I gave my daddy back the Mazda 323 he gave me, and bought myself a turbocharged Cordia. I joined the Brisbane Redcliffe racers and each night after work (at Pizzahut) I would cruise over to the group, and we would begin racing up and down the main drag, all night long, sometimes until day-brake the next morning.

We had burnout comps, races, and where just generally crazy. Cops would come, we would run, someone would get pulled over and raked, but the rest of us where out of there and back within an hour or 2.

I was done several times, ended up loosing my licence, but drove anyway. Ended up getting done, taken to the station, charged, released, notice to appear at court. I managed to rack up 7 of these before I was denied bail, locked up for the night, and a court session held on Easter Saturday to face the magistrate immediately, and be told if I was going to be lcoked up perminantly or given bail.

Closed court session, the magistrate's 6 yr old boy on 1 side with his wife, my parents at the back of the court (mother crying), me in sexy brown tracksuit (police issue lock-up clothes), 4 of the regular police officers that had caught me the 7 times prior, and it wasn't looking good for me. After a 4 hour court session, going through everything, I was given bail, an 18month suspended sentence (stay out of jail, but 1 thing wrong, and I am completely gone), and I had the unprecedented requirement from the magistrate that my vehicle be sold before the registration expired, or de-registered and taken off the road perminantly.

I left the court house with my parents, hopped in a mates car and was driven back to my place. Parents asked if I wanted to keep the car at my place to sell, or hand it to them to sell, and I kept it at my place. a few hours later, I called my parents to come and get it, as I was still tempted to drive the car.

My Dad was pulled over 4 times driving my car back to their place, because the police knew if they caught me driving, I was 1 less menace on the roads for a very long time.

Now, 10 yrs on, I have been on the roads again for 8 yrs, had a court overturn my licence suspensions, and I have since been a good boy.

I own a GTR, and before that Twin turbo Soarer, Nissan 180sx, and turbocharged modified Mazda 626. I have full respect for the police because they are there to do a job, some cops go over the top and that's just life, but the majority of the cops out there are there to help. I do volunteer work with the State Emergency Service, so I get cool toys on the car now, like flashy lights (I go direct to SES jobs with equipment to barrier off unsafe areas while a crew are in transit), I get radios, and all other cool stuff, but I now use my driving abilities for good of the community, rather than racing at night with a bunch of hoons.

For a cop to tell me they took a guy off the road doing almost double the speed limit in a shitbox, I shake their hand, for a dickhead to say he had an attitude, I shit on you mate!

    Graeme, well done!!

  5. the VL still came out with a pushrod V8 dont forget

The VL V8 was the only 5 litre V8 released by Holden that was unleaded AND fuel injected, all the previous 5 litre 8's where carby drawn. This is how they got their V8's through emissions, because of the fuel injection.

Now, I have owned both VL and R31 (Bought an R31 fill-in car today actually), and I would go the R31 over and above the VL Commodore.

The brakes, the handling, the interior, and the better reliability under the hood all win when you compare the 2, and they are all in the R31.

The VL was a great car, and I am not dissing it, but the R31 was so much more, and is still not appreciated for it.

Look in the Trading post, or on ebay, and check the priced for both.

VL Commodores are going for $4,500 ish

R31 Skylines unmolested are going for up to about $2,000.

The R31 is still a better car, but the Holden vs Ford and Aussie Pride mentality says the Holden has to be the better car, this is also usually from greek kids, or P-platers who dont realy know the background of the cars, and just go on hear-say from friends.

  6. Id never take factory claims as Law,

Look how easy it is for HKS, Amuse etc to pull nearly 600hp outta the new R35, surely Nissan Know the same tricks.

And Porsche engineers would know that tweaking the ECU, switching to difference cams, etcwould do the same for them.

As for the tire claim, all I have to say is meh. (and people say as long as it has decent tread it doesn't make a difference, go talk to Porsche who claim the tires where what lost them the race).

  7. I usually have a spare lead to test with for my timing light.

Nissan engines (turbo ones) dont use leads, the coils sit directly ontop of the spark plugs.

So what you dois carry a normal lead, attach this to the plug, then to the coil, and then clamp your timing light onto this lead. When doing timing advvancements and retarding, you only need to measure the timing from the 1st Cylinder anyway.

  8. I think everyone is waiting eagerly what happens here.......

    Chris,

I am still trying to get information on exactlywhat units my friend has, as he only got them a few weeks ago, and is still testing things, but as soon as I get info, I will flick it across to you :(

  9. For a GTS you can fill through the gear lever in the cabin, I used to do this with my CA 180sx, no issues at all, but leave it for 30 minutes before driving for the oil to flow through everything.

With the GTR's, I believe you cant do that because of the transfer case in the ATTESSA system, but I can not confirm this.

With regards to the loctite bolt, you need to heat the bolt up until it starts smoking, the smoke will be the loctite breaking down and begining to burn, at this point, you need to get into it and try to get it out (while red and glowing, or at least smoking).

If you dont get the bolt while it's smoking, the loctite will simply turn hard again, and set, making the bolt bloody hard to get out.

I had the same issue with a crank bolt on my 1JZ Soarer, to the point that I headed the stupid bolt until the bearings around the crank begain to melt and dis-figure, and the focking thing still wouldn't come out, ended up dismantling the car and pissing it off, was cheaper than removing the engine and fixing.

  10. Anyways, I found a pair on US Ebay - a local importer over there had a pair in his new shipment and since not many people have Skylines over in the States

Just be aware of which direction the projectors reflect light.

They should be something like --\___ --\____ beams for Australia and ___/-- ___/-- for USA.

If they like like the 2nd one when shined against the wall, you need to open up the headlights and swap out the projectors, so as to not blind on-coming people when driving.

If they came from Japan in a shipment, you wont have an issue, and the other guy bidding would have found them useless anyways.

  11. Holy Old Threads Batman!!!!

    Guys,

Noticed a few people had some 'experiences' with Vision, please PM me the outcomes, I am currently feeling a bit miffed about them myself, with my car being there for 4 months, and not started, yet he has $5,000 of my cash to 'assist' him.

Would appreciate some feedback as to the quality of the job, and any experiences you had.

  12. Thanks,

I might have found one on a shell in Brisbane, more than happy to take a drive up, rent a trailor, and tow the bugger back, but if that fails, I didn't think you could just rock up to Nissan and grab one, will hold this for my 2nd option.

Just hope I haven't been diddled by the repairer, it's been 4 months and sweet FA has happened on my car, he claims he is waiting till he has all the parts before bothering to start, and claims the rear quarter is the only part left, if I find it's anything more, I am taking my car and moving on.

    B.

  13. Thanks for your reply Deano, i'll try some wd40.

I also forgot to mention that there is redish silicone type sealant around the plug.

Loctite, find out who the stupid prick was that did that and go and sink your foot up their arse!!

only way to break loctite is to heat it up, which is not good when your talking about oil on the other side.

If you have someone elses CO2 fire extinguisher floating about fully charged, discharge the entire thing on the nut and see if it cracks the thread (seriously COLD blast of CO2 might help), otherwise you will need to look at heating the damn thing.

  14. Is the shell still floating around???

If so, price me the left rear quarter, removed and shipped to Chatswood Sydney 2067, if need be, contact me and I can arrange a courier to collect from somewhere.

Get me the details, price, when the panel can be made available, and I will take it off your hands INSTANTLY!

I also noticed the front end is clean and perfect as well, I will speak with my repairer on Monday, and see if he needs any front end bits at all.

PM, SMS, call, or email me.

  15. Guys,

Car has been off at a repairer for 4 months, now not sure if this is hard to find this section, but 4 months is starting to really farkin hurt me without my pride and joy, so part hunting time has come.

I would like a Rear quarter panel from a wrecked R32 GTR, willing to pay, willing to even cut the quarter off myself, colour is not an issue, but has to be straight and in good condition.

Call, PM, SMS or email me.

    Thanks,

    Brian

  16. Chris, trust me when I say you where not contacted by the person I am thinking about, as the system we are trying is not in release yet.

The system has GPS tracking with GSM updates, full back to base monitor, complete alarm system with 4 point imobilisation, and is a nice unit. Funny enough, it comes from the same supplier Quik Trak was using in Asia, not sure if it's the exact same unit.

Anyway, been doing some research, found these interesting reads:
