  1. Re: Beer Baron,

Where did you get them from .... Bearing traders all alike ?

If I could also ask a few a questions about your fitment as I was only looking at this last night,

Rotor dia - two of one peace - thickness

Rotor to suit 32-33-34 etc in terms of hat height

Outer pad fitment .... Any problems with rubbing on the hat ?

    Cheers

Or how anyone else's has done it .... I'M NOT DRILLING MY HUBS.

  2. 425kw's at the rear's best so far

    HKS Step 2 - 2.8

    HKS Twin GT2835's with 0.6 A/R's

    Nismo inlet manifold

    20psi

    HKS Step 2 - 272's

    HKS Twin spark with Spiltfire's

    Pro ported head and chambers

    8.7:1 comp ratio

No print out handy at the moment but should be shortly

  3. of all people i thought you would know this dude... unless you use a hub dyno.. the size of the wheels and friction properties of the tyres will affect the power output on any particular dyno.. high reading or low reading.. his volks have a rolling diameter of 675mm while the original gtr wheels are 654mm, so the original wheels will give a higher speed reading and slightly higher power reading. the big wheels will give a higher torque reading and less speed.. it doesnt matter anyway as the dyno was just used to tune it.. scott @ insight said it has got more to offer and its a very safe tune for day to day driving.. and its been tuned for maximum low down response... not top top end power.

regardless of power readings and dynos and crap thats gone on and what anyone thinks.. this car now hauls. it has fantastic driveablity, excellent fuel economy, and power to boot.. for the amount of punting bakes does.. the money has been spent, the parts are fitted, and the result at the end are what matters, it should keep him happy for a while..

simon, if your not content with anything about bakes gtr, feel free to line your r31 up anytime you like (or your mates mp3 player) .. until then.. let him enjoy his car stop worrying about what you could have done for him..

Lint it doesn't matter what i no or think, You should not be so quick to assume that my question was an attack on Bakes (i'm sorry if anyone else saw it that way)

I asked the question for no other reason then to see what people's understanding of his comment about the wheels was - nothing more then that.

As for "what i could of done for him" when we were speaking on the phone last week i believe my offer was more so to help YOU in regards to helping Bakes get the A/C sorted etc before it went to Sydney, and yes i would have done a couple of things another way, as would've you as you had the same thoughts about the mods as i did ! But its not my car and not my call.

Anyway Bakes I'm glad its all sorted out for you and doing what you wanted it to.

    Sorry guys for the crap

  4. Hi guys,

I'm a mechanic buy trade (and job) and i have driven the car just a week ago for a wedding and its very much alive ! Its a pleasure to drive like ALL GTR's should be.

With just a bleed valve as boost control and a street tune she has more to offer. This car offers the little things like perfect carpet and trims and no rattles etc, the right base for a built up as a even quicker car and also being able to be entered in a show and shine.

Its well worth the look if you want a clean slate !

I to well miss you SCOOP :)

  5. Ha ha ha ha

Yes Paul it is true that i can not read dyno sheets ! Credit to your (red line) power curve.

Another thing i can't understand is why you don't answer all my questions ?

So here's 3 more for ya,

    1. Did you buy the exhuast manifolds that are on your car and 2530's from that workshop that fitted your cam gears ?

    2. Is the SDT on the dyno sheet an abbreviation of the name of the workshop ?

    3. Is it the same workshop that fitted the gears ?

  6. Hi Paul,

Thanks for posting the dyno sheet.

Just looking at the sheet, the only real difference i can see between the two power runs is that the one that makes more power (blue line) is a dyno queens power curve as the "MR GTR's" (green line) has a far more linear power delivery which would to me represent a more "real world" performance gain.

I know which car i'd rather drive....

    Just a couple more things!

i wonder what is your definition of "built by myself"?

Did you personally port, polish, surface grind and seat the valves on the head which is being used on the current engine? And did "you" balance the crank ?

  7. Hi Paul,

Just to clear up a few things!!

Why was the car taken to two different workshop's to have basic mechanical and electrical items fitted over the obvious extensive experence at DIRT in the first place ?

Howed you work out the 50hp loss from the first workshops work with the cam gears ? was it power ran before and after on site ? did the torque curve improve at all as a result of this loss?

And do you have any further info about these workshops as it could be handy as i use a workshop in newcastle for my R32GTR ?

Are you using HKS exhaust manifolds ? if so did you buy them new and if you did buy the new have you "touched" them up with a die grinder at all, did you have them coated if so what with ?
