  1. Does you idle go up and down when you go from any gear to neutral?

I don't think its the ECU. I had an auto ecu in my manual car. It was an IMPUL one. I just had to short the neutral wire to earth so that it wouldn't rev up every time it was in neutral.

  2.

Mate all ecu equipped vehicles have a safety cut on the fuel pump. Some use a timer, others use engine oil pressure, anything to tell the ecu that the engine has stalled.

Not rocket science, you don't want fuel pumping over a crash scene, that's the reason.

The stock pump will prime in those 5 seconds but some aftermarket items without a non-return valve will need a few key on/offs to fully prime.

Direct wiring of a street car's fuel pump is one defect I'll endorse.

Yes well that would make sense. I better have a look at how my Tomei fuel pump rewire is done. I even remember having to put a pressure switch in line with a fuel pump once to do the exact thing you stated. Thanks

  3. I'm not too concerned with getting all the fuel out. I just need to get as much as I can. I'll dillute the remainder with fresh gasoline.

I was under the impression that the fuel pump will shut off after a moment without the engine acutally running. Did you have to keep cycling the key?

My pump kept on going . Maybe the stock ECU has a 5sec timer but I doubt it. If your car was hard to start why would you want it to cut off. It wont take long to empty it even if you have to turn it on a few times. Its possible the 5sec comes from the fuel pressure reaching its pressure and fuel pressure relay shutting the pump off. With the hose disconnected the pressure wont hit the desired pressure so in theory will keep pumping.

  4. It is indicating a fault with the ignition circuit, probably best if you start a new thread on it so others can find this same info.

It is letting you know there is a slight resistance change somewhere inside a coil primary or ignition harness. Have you been poking around with the coils recently, or changing plugs? If not it sounds like you will be soon. :P

Mine threw this code when I had the Emanage Ultimate wired in.

Thanks Scotty. I haven't opened the bonnet for 4 weeks. My wife rang and said the engine light wont go off. Looks like a fun job to change coil packs. The code has cleared for now. Hope I dont see it back too soon.

  5. I had this happen on a V8 I had rebuilt. The harmonic balancer actually broke the end of my crank off. Then when the idiots fixed it under warranty they never cleaned the journals out properly on the next crank which caused it to wreck the big end bearings. I had the engine out 3 times that year.

I would be taking it out to be safe.

Luckily the reputable business at the time is no longer around.
