  1. 10mm tread minimum, usually judge this by eye but will measure it if it looks close to the minimum.

Won't care about exhaust, only noise. 91db is the maximum.

Even "profesionally installed" front mount intercoolers almost always hack up the reo bar, hit and miss, you might get away, but don't be suprised if they pick you for it, its a structural part of your car and is designed to help protect occupants in a crash, so modifying it is frowned upon  Sturt braces they won't care about, the pod filter they will be fine with UNLESS it isnt secured at 2/more points.

White smoke will raise some eyebrows, does it go away after a while or is it constantly there?

tread limit is actually 1.5mm, thats where the tread wear indicators are, thats the limit....i'd say 3mm for safe measure!!

i have never seen tires (sports tires) with 1cm tread depth....4wd yes, not sports tires!

  2. i actually want a supra now

    seen the light??

hehe, wat type of Soop you looking @?? i have a modified jza70 for sale atm, theres quite a few soops for sale atm, hop onto suprawa.com and register there, last Sunday every month we have a meet, you just missed out on our last one! Can come in your Skyline and scope out the soop scene!

  3. indeed! I have fitted a few tyres myself and low profile tyres are a flamin mongrel even on a tyre machine..very tight, You need the machine especially to pull the tyre around under the lip when you put the tyre back on, pretty much have to stretch them on. I have seen 4wd tyres been done without a machine but it is pretty hard work.

Perhaps you could put a nice set of split rims on instead lol

+$50 is a bit rude just to swap them over, is he balancing them as well? Even still.. phwaar!

LOL @ Flamin Mongrel being the replacment word for CUN7

I got done for 65buxs to get tyres changed...one rim has a slight buckle and the wrong tire, so i got them to swap it over with one of the tires on the car...was expecting around 30buxs. for sum reason it took them 40minutes and 65 of my dollars, wont name the shop in o'connor but wasnt too happy!

  4. Yea, Perth police dont seem to care too much about public safety!

On Aus day we had 6 tables broken, as well as camera footage and a rego number, cops still havent done anything, no visits, no reports, nothing!! i ended up cleaning all the mess they made aswell!! not happy!

  5. Umm what? Have you ever felt the pre side and post side pipe of an intercooler after a drive? Fair difference.

The pipe behind the radiator gets incredibly hot thereby reheating the air before it reaches the engine. Insulating that pipe reduces the amount that the heated radiator exhaust air can heat up that pipe. The cool air still coming from the intercooler then cools the pipe back down anyway which should be a minimal increase, unless the insulation is not thick enough and lets too much heat through.

Oh yea, i forgot that skylines had the intercooler pipe go right behind the rad, i kept thinkin, coz i drive a toyota(front facing intake manifold), theres gona be no gain, but it may help on the track but i dont see any huge gains, except not burning yourself on that pipe, you'll just get burnt by everything else thats still 85+ degrees thats around it :P would be interesting to see real results!

I would think that whilst on the continous move the gains would be minimal. But add stop start traffic into the equation and it may help reduce heat soak into the piping. I would be interested to know if this mod helps spool up in a stop start situation

the only ways to increase spool up on the intake side are:

    Shorter intake tract

Cooler inlet temps(dry ice, W-A IC etc.)

water/meth injection(basically same as cooler inlet temps)

    fixing air leaks

    allowing motor to breathe more

nitrous oxide(stupid for better spool on a small turbo as can be dangerous under 3000rpm)

on the exhaust side theres quite a few things! can get quite complex! but basics are:

smoother exhaust manifold collecter(6 boost manifold usually good at this)

better wastegate integration (bad integration can cause turbulance)

Heat wrapping exhaust housing as well as dump

wastegate actuator line from intake plenum instead of turbo comp. housing

EBC/ ball and spring boost controller

    antilag

theres heaps, exhxaust size, materials used, length, etc.

    could go on forever!

  6. You may be right but I would still prefer to actually measure it.

The autospeed article claimed 7-10 deg C.

I'm waiting on a thermocouple extension cable from egay at the moment so will have to keep everyone in suspense for a couple of weeks.

i reckon it would be keeping the heat in!!!! Think about it turbo compresses air, air gets hot coz it get compressed, air stays hot because its insulated! insulation keeps the heat in! the only place i can see it having a +ve effect is for the airbox! keep the heat away from the airbox, air stays cooler, but then gets compressed and heated. the only other how it could have an affect is if you had a dry ice intercooler, inlet temps acan get as low as -50 anyways though!

any affects post IC would me marginal and not worth it, until i see numbers and proof!

  7. how bout setting up a flame thrower system?? get a few injectors and a rail, slap it into the bush/driveway/path/wherever and a fuel pump with say a catch can with the fuel supply, a spark plug and a coil, activated by a switch sumwhere in the house, ever seen a Maori on fire?? i havent  you could be the first though! thatll make them think twice about taking your 'line

  8. Wasn't Luke he posted on antilag last night!

Very interesting story woggin, glad your both doing better now! Just on a small side note, don't go around telling people that she died twice in the ambulance, makes you sound silly... Loosing a heart beat and not breathing is not dying, you only get to die once in a life and it's pretty permanent from most reports :P

Reports say she didnt have a heart beat and wasnt breathing for 5minutes, 6mins is the threshold of brain damage occurring, thats fairly lifeless(dead) but i know wat you mean!

*cringe* - losing a leg is life-changing (it's not just scars now!) sorry to hear about your accident. And best of luck to you and your girlfriend...

Mate, i cant even begin to describe it, having her lay in front of me after regaining consciousness and seeing that just decimates you completely, then in hospital actually seeing it, fu$ked me up something good, her right leg was 'de-gloved' as its referred to, the entire 180 degree left hemisphere of her leg was torn off by the windshield, all the way to the bone, so she has a skin graft now there, from just below her knee to her big toe, its just nuts, i dont know how she has coped with the months of suffereing and pain, she incredible, i just cant explain the sh$t!!

again, back on topic, 32 4 with a rb26?? sounds modified, someone must of known him pretty well, rip.

  9. Sorry to hear that mate! How is everything healing after the crash? You still with your girlfriend?

I kinda find these stories to be more painful than the other one. I mean this in the nicest possible way but I would rather die than lose a leg thats for sure.

    RIP to the other driver.

yea still with her, 4 years together in April, i still dont have full range of movement in my hand and my ribs are still foobared but other than that, its just the memories which haunt me! I remember everything until hitting the pole, then regaining consciousness with my gf laying next to me, covered in blood and still conscious, i was covered head to toe in brake fluid, tranny fluid and gfs blood, still have my cloths (dont wear them ofcourse since they stink like tranny fluid)

she spent 2weeks in a coma and died twice in the ambulance and who knows how many times at the hospital. Her abdomen was torn open by the seatbelt across her entire stomach approx. 6" deep. ended up in ICU many times, suffered infections, failed surgeries, 5months of being bed bound, septacimia...and much more!

missus has ongoing problems, she will for the rest of her life unfortunately, its sad because its usually the ones not doing anything wrong that get hurt!

that aside and back on topic, my condolences to the family!

  10. at least he would of died instantly so he wouldnt of suffered!

although it does sound he was speeding, i was in a crash in mid 08, commodore into a power pole at 120+ car split in 2 but there was a tiny bit of roof holdin the 2pieces toghether, so for a smaller car to be clean split in 2 i assume he was going faster than the 110 speed limit.

( i was a rear passenger in the crash above, unfortunately my missus and i were the only ones injured, people in front walked away, wet roads, 5 week old p plater, north lake rd, doesnt end well! i also must state that all this occurred before we had time to realize wat was going on)

  11. quick somebody lend him a flame suit!! (hehe, pun intended)

some cars which have been set-up to overfuel on decel and dont have a cat can pop flames coming off boost, i have never heard of anyone popping flames with a cat conveter in place, removing it is illegal, READ NOT FOR STREET USE.

its time to leave the Hollywood of Fast and the Furious!! real car dont blow flames every 5secs, nor do they give you plumes of wheelspin and thrust you into your seat when NOS is activated! and its not possible to blow the welds on your intake manifold!! hehe

    good luck!!

  12. well i have wired a few in, not sure wat would cause the screen to not work and the pad to work, maybe the screen is fubared!

wats your location? if your in perth i could have a look at it for you, i think most people go powerFC which is why i have got limited responses in this thread, but once i find the proper settings ill post em up for others, people ask these sorta Q's!!

  13. heyas,

i need some help setting up an SAFC II in my mates 32gts4, i installed the safc and i know its wired in right, i have the throttle set diagonally upward right and set to 6cyl, i have hot-wire selected and this is where is gets confusing, i have the in out scale set to 2, so 2in 2out, then next menu is a cal. menu with the same Xin Xout which is set a the factory 1 at the moment, so cal. 1in 1out, i have read somewhere on here the scale should be set to 2in 4out, but when i tried this with his rb20 it ran like a cop with a HUGE misfire at 3k, which didnt allow the motor to rev past 3.5 or so....so my Q's are

wat should the scale be set to?

    and

wat should the cal. be set to?

the car seems to run fine on 2in 2out so i am leaving it there until i can get somebody to give me straight facts which the motor is happy with.

the car has the following mods,

    3" turbo back

    FMIC kit

Pod filter wit mesh screens removed

    13psi

    and the SAFC II

    cheers

    wog

  14. I want to bone the english copper that got me for my 100% legal tyres. You may have been a bitch honey, but you had a great arse.

    Fact.

you got done for having decent tyres?? WTF!!!

had some fun, when i was actually driving with others! next time it would be good to see people sticking together and abiding by the speed limit!! but, being car enthusiasts i doubt that will happen!

  15. heyas,

The mines computer currently in the vehicle is what we believe is the problem, so looking for an original rb20det ecu to diagnose further, P/N is 23710 04u02, as far as i know, the 2nd set of numbers has to be the same for it to function properly...

need asap, PM me or call/sms me 0405 067 013

    thanx
