  5. MTX are a little better IMO, however all subs are DIFFERENT, so you should have a listen before you buy.... however both JL and MTX are pricey and when it comes to bang for buck you should consider running pioneer 12's on a decent amp as they are really good value for money... as for amps alpine make the best amps IMO, but MTX and rockford fosgate are really good amps for subs... all in all it just depends what you want 10's will give you tighter bass but not as loud, 12's will give you great balance and 15's are just shit, and different branded subs will sound different so go out there and have a listen... -bryan -bryan
  6. use MDF man, its so easy, like MattyB said just get the jig saw pencil and MDF out and start fitting the bastards in their -bryan
  7. dude give me a ring on 0411132630, ill take a look at it this saturday if you want (my next day off), but yeah basically it sounds as if you might have blown a fuse and you have no inline fuse (which can blow the amp up), however could also be a number of things (like loose wires, improper ground etc.) i caan take a look at it for yah... -bryan
  8. hmmm seems like your having a bit of trouble there... to put it simple man a alpine cassette deck is not going to give you the volume and quality you require (although alpines latest decks are REALLY GOOD ), but as its only 35X4 its not that powerful, when you turn it up and it distorts i would say its most likely not the speakers its probably the headdeck, although if those clarions are stock then REPLACE THEM FAST... you can tune your current deck all you want but its still very limited, the latest 50X4 (pioneer, alpine, kenwood) decks will put out quality and will go loud but still if you want really loud (deafening) you are going to have to purchase some amps and the tool sony headdecks are pretty good so don't bag all their audio in general... as for the crossover networks they are meant for component speakers dude, so if you have components (woofer and tweeter) then you use the crossover network all it does is splits the frequencies thus sending low frequencies to the woofer and high frequencies to the tweeter, but in your case just run your speaker wire straight from the headdeck to the speaker (which you have already done)... hope this helps -bryan
