  1. G'day all, Well, depressed as ever, I'll still try to answer your questions. Background: 23 YO Suspended licence 4 months. 140 in 80 Driving whilst suspended - went to court etc another fine 115 in 100 rating 4 So yeah, not the greatest track record. Would consider third party, however scared being a skyline and all. I currently drive a VL Calais, third party only and the only place who would touch me was just cars. Currently paying $830 (i think) just or third party! The other problem with third party is that if your car gets stolen, you're only entitled to get $5K back. Considering my excess given history is $1500, buy a car, say 15K, and if stolen, only get $3500 back and losing rating, I can't justify it. Any other thoughts, or loopholes you can think of? Thanks!
  2. Hey Guys, Well, its a sad day today. I just found out how much it will cost me to ensure a GTST. Given my driving record blah blah blah blah, it will cost me $4,025. *sob* Looks like the dream of owning a R33 is gone. I just can't justify that annual cost. If anyone else has an idea, it will be appreciated, however thanks again for your help.
  3. G'day All, Firstly let me thank you for all your replies and valued input. So let me get this right? Series 1 and 2 both have their pros and cons. Well, in that case, I'll err for the series 1 as it is cheaper. But let me ask you, can I confirm, if I change the front bar, front lights and rear spoiler, exterior wise, it will be the same as a series 2? Is that correct? Or is there anything I need to change. Just that the bonnet also looks different. How much would all this stuff cost? Many of you mentioned that the series 2 involved a lot of cost cutting. Therefore did the series 1 dating back to 1993 have a more expensive interior than the Series 2. Or put in other words, is the interior of a 1993 the same as a 1995? If not, what differences are there? Anyway, thank you all for taking the initiative for me to review their vehicles for sale. I am definately interested in several, however need to see them personally to make a final decision. Again, please advise and thanks for your input
  4. G'day PVA, Sorry....... my bad. must have been on drugs or something. PM me on how much you are after. I guess we can discuss it from there. Thanks again.
  5. ps. PVC, are the rumours true? Are you selling your GTS-4?? Please advise! But to the others, may I ask, what prices should I be looking at for a decent Series 2, I know this can be quite subjective, but again, any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Good Afternoon, Firstly let me thank you for your prompt replies. Your expertise has been most helpful. It's great to hear your input and to have you guys as a resource. Well, my only question (for now anyway) is to Tommy G, how do I diagnose a 1995 Series 1.5?? But yes, looks I will have to do some research on these before I get one. Oh yeah, one other thing, did the GTS-4 come in a series two? This does sound like a possible alternative and sounds like it has great potential. Again, thanks for your assistance. If anybody has any photos on the differences, especially in the interior area, that will be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hey! I'm not taking advantage of the guy. I'm just giving my honest answer to his offer. He does NOT need to take if he does not want to White 33, I do not wish to offend with my offer. However, that is all I have. Again, best of luck with your family.
  8. Good Afternoon All, I need you expertise. My car has finally gone ka-put, so while I'm not too impressed, it finally gives me an opportunity to purchase my dream car, an R33. Now can you guys please advise on the different models available. My knowledge on R33's is minimal to say the least. I mean, I know of the GTS, GTST and the beloved GTR, but that is where my knowledge stops. Damn do I feel stupid! Anyway, I hear people talking about different specs, an M spec, V spec etc. What do these mean and how many specs were there. I also hear that there was a series two model. Did this have many improvements over the series one? Interior, exterior, performance? Oh yeah and finally, I had the privledge to drive a 1993 model at some dealer. Comparing it with the photos from these forums, did the later/newer models come with different bonnets and headlights. I refer to R33 that are 1995 or younger. I mean the bumper was different however I felt that the front of the younger cars was so much more aggressive. Is there any difference, I am I just seeing things. Anyway, please write back with your comments, and I apologise for the excessive questions. Thanks again.
  9. Firstly let me echo everybody's thoughts here and say, sorry to hear about your father. I wish you and you family the best of luck. I also am looking for a Skyline so, if the other 6 odd people fall through, would you please consider my offer for $14K. I know you aare selling you baby to support the family, however that's all I have to give. I'm located on the south east side of Melb. Please get back to me after you do your sums etc. Thanks again.
  10. Hi All, Your help has been invaluable. Thanks heaps for all your replies. I will definately take up this option as soon as I can get past one last barrier. The oldies! Aaargh, coming from a tradition (aka tight as@#) asian family, looks like this may need to be put on hold. i can here all the smirks already, but still have it pretty easy living at home. It's supposedly all about respect....which I have none of, and very little patience to deal with them. Ah, enough of my whining, I'll probably move out by the end of next month, when my first outlay will be none other than a R33. I'll write again, hopefully when I have better news to report. Thanks again. ps. Ex-static, my nic was NA Calais, yes I only own a naturally aspirated car, but given my lack of points, that was all I could afford with insurance etc.....
  11. G'day Ex-static, I guess this message is a bit redundant now, but yes I am. Please check out my other thread. Why do you ask? Is the R33 the way to go? Thanks!
  12. G'day Ex-static, I was hoping you would reply. I've actually met you before from the calaisturbo forums, and have seen you crusing around with your new R33. Damn that looks mighty impressive. I guess, I fall in a similar boat to yourself, 25000km does seem a lot, and doubt I could really do that much. Do you think it's still worth if I did around the 15-25K mark. Higher FBT rate of 20% though..... I understand that with higher km, you're also getting regular service done. But the fact is, you're still forking out more for petrol, maintenance, etc....etc, even if it with pre-tax dollars. Does the saving you make with a lower FBT rate outweigh the costs of a higher rate with less km, petrol etc?? I guess my question at the end of the day is how much is it costing you per week. I realise you may not want to disclose that kind of info, so I understand. I just want to know if I can justify the outlay. You can always PM me if you want. I still have my VL Calais right now, and I'm sure you agree that this still isn't a bad little car. Just that the lure of a 33 has finally got to me, and this seems like the only plausible option. Thanks again for your replies.
  13. G'day PranK Yes that is indeed exactly the info I'm after. I only really have $25K max to spend so yep, looks like the GTS-t may be the way to go. Thanks heaps! Scotty
  14. Thanks URMINE, It's reassuring to see a VP promoting/ endorsing this option. So, for a FBT rate of 11%, you would need to drive 25000km a year right? That seems mighty high, around 500km a week! Would the additional cost for fuel offset the amount saved in FBT savings. Another thing which I wasn't sure on, can you please clarify on what you mean about the 10% FBT rate and my 42% tax bracket. Again thanks heaps for your advice Scotty
  15. G'day All, Please excuse my ignorance, however the lure of a R33 has always appealed to me, but it has only been recently that I can actually afford one. The problem is I can only get a 1997 model due to leasing options, so I was hoping if you guys could give me an indication on possible models and their associated prices. Personally would prefer something in the turbo range Thanks heaps to all who reply.
  16. Good Evening All, I seek your advice on the novated leasing company Properion. Having read the forums, it appears that many of you guys have taken this option to finance your pride and joy. I too would like to take this option, however being the conservative type, would like the opinion of those here who have done it for your recommendation. Firstly, may I ask, when it comes down to it, how much is it costing you per month to maintain your car? Speaking to a sales rep, he mentioned for a $25K vehicle, I was looking at a weekly cost of just under $150 given a 3 year term. Does this sound right? Now I know this covers insurance, fuel etc etc...... however that's still $7800 a year. After 3 years, that just over $23K. Now I know that this is before tax dollars. Given that I'm in 42% tax bracket, does that equate to a 42% of $23K I have to pay?? Another thing to consider, I will still owe 47% of the car after 3 years. Thats $11750. So the way I see it, for a $25K car, I'm paying 11750 + 23000 = $34500. How's my calculations? phuc, this is turing out to be a bloody maths exam! Anyway, how the the FBT thing work? It states to only get some serious saving of, you need to drive in excess of 25000km. That's a lot of driving. Long story short, I need to know what experience you guys have had. How much is costing you a week and to tell if it's worth it. Thanks heaps to all who have endured this post and thanks to all who reply. Scotty
