  1. seems every one is updated.

Woolster is going faster now that he has scratched the paint. its not going to get much worse. i took a pair of indicators and a mirror up for him but i believe there is minimal damage bar cosmetic.

2 R35s off today. i came across the Steve Jones crash. wasnt to bad as far as car damage. navigator was out and walking but steve was still in the car when i left and i have since heard that he was taken to hospital with lower back pain. they would have had some hang time judging by the speed and hill he launched over.

I was wondering where a couple of the GTRs were when I was at Targa Fest, now I know.

I went in, took some pictures, had a bit of a sticky beak around the traps.

I decided I'd be foolish and link you all to them.

They are foolishly on my quasi-blog-that-I-haven't-updated-in-a-while.

Enjoy, if anyone wants to look. Damn hard to get pictures of some cars, so many people crowding around.

    Cheers,

    Rob

  2. I woke up to RAIN today! its going to be a fun day.

plus its RAINED heavy all night so things are going to get loose.

So those guys I saw at BP on Wellington Street yesterday in their Datsun 510 SSS are going to have fun considering they brought wet tyres for wet or dry?

    Awesome :P

  3. Hey all,

Is there some night or day event or something near Launceston where all the competitors are (hopefully) going to be displaying the cars?

Would love to come get a look at them, unfortunately I've started working and don't think I'll be swing any days off to come to any of the stages around Launceston / northern Tassie.

Want to get a look at all these fancy Skylines coming down to little ol tassie :stupid:

  4. Dad is running again this year with Ray Vandersee in the Skelta.

atm we are helping Paul Bergman get his R33 GTR N1 ready for it to compete in targa again, should do well this year.

Targa Tas is definatly a must do in a lifetime, will get there one day :)

    Sweeeeeet.

Those Skeltas are awesome. Absolutely insane, but awesome.

  5. You said on nissansilvia/hardtuned that you had moved down and were his cousin (he had mentioned you before I think?)

    Ahh indeed I did.

Looks like I'll need to have a gander at the Targa Tas website soon and see when things are on and whereabouts in relation to Launceston, so I can plan some day trips around the place to go and watch!

  6. yes I know Nathan, have known him (and his antics) for a long time :D

Now I'm even more puzzled as to how you knew he was my cousin! Or rather, how you knew I was his cousin.

    Now I'm more confused!

  7. Yeh mate come along for a look! and drag that cousin of yours up, i haven't seen him in nearly 2 years!!!

That's either a random 'everyone in Tasmania is related' joke, or you actually know my cousin Nathan?

  8. Hey all, how's it going.

I've just recently picked up a series 2 R33 GTS25T, and I've got a bit of a weird hunting problem with it.

Basic symptom is the following: When moving the car just a little bit, be it in reverse or 1st gear, upon clutching in and braking, the revs will begin to hunt, going between 0 to 1500rpm, not necessarily that whole scale, eg it could go between 700 and 1500, or could go between 0 to 800, etc etc.

Perfect example of this would be in the drive through getting food at suchandsuch fast food place, when moving forward in line, so clutch in, first gear, bit of revs, clutch out, move forward the car length, clutch in before braking to a stop, and the revs will begin to hunt, or worse, it just plain stalls.. Will do this for about 30 seconds, and then come good. Giving the pedal a rev doesn't help this at all, it will continue to hunt after the throttle is closed.

Another example will be turning into a car park, full lock, clutch in and brake, engine will stall.

Idle is set at 750rpm. Is this too low?

Can anyone give any ideas for a solution?

    Things that have been done:

CAS replaced, timing set correctly as per timing label on the bonnet (something like +15 btdc at 700rpm or whatever it is, it's been done as per the label).

Things that I will give a go and see what happens:

Clean the AFM with some contact cleaner (won't take it apart and touch the element, will just use the contact cleaner through the mesh or whatever).

If the contact cleaner doesn't fix the problem, I'll replace the AFM with a spare one that the workshop has, which they've said I can do, as I bought the car from them, free of charge.

Replace the plugs (probably should do it anyway, compliance place didn't do it as far as I can tell), and give it some good oil.

Apart from the above, intermittant problem, I've enjoyed my almost 3 weeks of Skyline ownership, such a nice car to have after having owned a fairly modified suspension wise S13 that was an absolute pig to drive on the road with its aggressive 2 way diff and all the fancy arms.

    Cheers all,

  9. I had Trust/Greddy SM Integrate gauges in my old S13, oil temp/oil pressure, with a Pivot water temp gauge. The SM Integrate gauges have a memory function so you can record and replay like 30 seconds of readings, or just a plain old peak recall.

Pivot had a peak recall function as well.

Anything that's white face will prove really really easy to read at day time, and are good at night time as well depending on how they light up. The Pivot lights up with a white light behind a cover on the glass of the gauge, the Greddy would light up green, from behind, with the needle showing up orange.

    Easy as anything.
