  1. Hi, Try posting the question here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/forum/77-classic-skylines/ JH
  2. Thanks and you're right. The same trailer that's $28/day for 6 days costs $70/day for 3 days. JH
  3. Yes, we're wandering off the topic slightly but it's all related. Thanks for the tyre figures. I found this tyre calculator on a VW site: http://www.club80-90...0calculator.htm I'll check my fuel economy and post some figures as well. Meanwhile, it might be interesting to see some figures from even-earlier Skylines. The figures from '73 to '83 are all very similar. cheers, JH
  4. Spec figures from carbuddy.com for L24E: 4sp auto 13.5L/100km city and 8.5L/100km highway. 3sp auto 14L/100km city and 10.5L/100lm highway. 5sp manual 13.5L/100km city and 8.5L/100km highway. I'd like to try bigger wheels, only running 14's at the moment (195/65HR14). The speedo reading will be out with larger rims/tyres. My guess is that 5% larger outer diameter means 5% lower reading on the speedo - so when it says 95, actual speed is 100. JH
  5. What is a 686 drive? JH
  6. A quick eBay search found one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-Nissan-Skyline-Service-Manuel-Model-R30-Series-/220744410866?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33656466f2 JH
  7. Thanks Dennis, Looks like I'm 'spot on' then. Not so bad for a car with 260,000km on the clock. I'll be interested to see some real-life figures from a 4 sp auto and 5 sp manual. (Maybe you can take the PNV for a run.) cheers, JohnH
  8. I know there are lots of variables but was just wondering what other older Nissans/Datsuns show on the tacho at 100kph. My result is: Skyline MR30, L24E, 3 speed auto (!), 83 series 1, 3500 RPM Not so good on economy but hums along nicely on a good day. cheers, JH
  9. Thanks for the suggestion, found their details Blue Gum Hire in Hobart. Does anyone know of similar places around Launceston?
  10. Hi, Can anyone recommend somewhere to hire a trailer in Tas? (It costs way too much to take a small trailer on the boat - over $200 each way!) Looking for a 7 x 4 or motorbike trailer to cart around a 250cc motorbike for a few days in mid March. The trailer hire places at petrol stations want around $28+ per day so I'm hoping to find a cheaper option. Maybe someone knows a small hire place. JH
  11. Hi, Where are you located? There are parts available in Melb wreckers. This one's too good to part out. JH
  12. Hi, I've got NGK's but just wondering what's the problem with Bosch plugs? JH
  13. Spotted your car in the city today. How is the sale going? JH
  14. What 'R30 front parts' are you selling? A brief list would be helpful. JH

    Wanted

    Where are you located? JH
  16. Looks in good condition, how many km's has it done? JH
  17. What colour is it?
  18. Hi, Last week, Scott's Motorcycle Repairs in Legana near Launceston had a $350 cashback deal on Shark helmets. Deal available when you get your bike serviced. JH
  19. Sounds awful! Just wondering why it's not advertised on forums like ozdat or JNC (or SAU). Probably too late now, but you could consider selling parts separately. I've seen big lists of parts sell fairly quickly on ozdat. Good luck with the sale. JH
  20. This car looks very familiar (except for the bonnet). http://cgi.ebay.com....em=160541012346 JH
  21. The car looks good. Whereabouts in Melbourne are you? Last time I checked (a few weeks ago) there were some R30's at Imlach's in Centre Rd Springvale. Yours is 4 speed auto I presume, official figures are 13.5L/100km city and 8.5L/100km highway. (3 speed figures are 14 and 10.5.) JH
  22. Hi, The service manual title 'Nissan Skyline Model R30 Series Service Manual'. Quite expensive new (eg at http://www.pitstop.net.au/) but they do turn up on eBay sometimes. Have you checked the hose clamps on the injectors to make sure they're all tight? The car hasn't done that many km's so maybe it's something simple. Also, just wondering.... what colour is your R30 hatch and where did you find it? I've seen a few on eBay recently, none of them got to the reserve price. cheers, JH
  23. Hi, Basic service is easy to do. You'll need some basic tools and equipment.... Best way to learn is to have someone show you what to do. It's also very useful to have the service manual, have a look through this thread: http://www.ozdat.com...php?f=8&t=23034 (or get one off eBay). Lots of R31 people over here: http://motamota.r31s...hp?action=forum . (Can't see many posts in the NT section though). Good luck with the car, JH
  24. The current plan is to visit the east coast and then head south. And yes, work options will be an issue if he decides to stay... thanks for the replies. cheers, JohnH
  25. 54. May turn up to a cruise in the R30 one day. JH
