  1. I PASSED!! Everything checked off, all neat and tidy. I also got my new custom plates in this arvo. Today turned into a really nice day, the skies even parted long enough for me to go for a nice little cruise to celebrate. Also, in the past I have never had any real thoughts for people who get yellowed. Now it's happened to me I realise all the pain you go through and can sympathise with everyone having a bitch about pit inspectors who don't know diddly squat about cars (mine was pretty good). I wish everyone good luck with their yellows and hope to God never to have one again. Ha ha ha, not likely when I drive a Skyline!! Blinky
  2. Ok, everyone, tomorrow is D-Day again. I have done everything that is on the list (except the IM240 test) and feel my car is ready to become an unstickered member of society again. Hope all goes well. Blinky
  3. I wonder if the patio shop owner charged them loss of business fees as they were covering up the advertising sign he paid for??? I would be asking for a cut... Blinky
  4. At least the next roll out of the IM240 testing will be fairer, hopefully KEC doesn't still hold the monopoly on it and I hope the class action goes through. Also, if anyone has any legit tips and info on what mods to do to make a modified exhaust legal, I would be happy to hear them. I want to start doing upgrades before the next roll out so when it comes, I am ready. That is if I am off the hook for this one!! Blinky
  5. When your mate failed, did the guys tell him what he needed to do, or give any advice on what he could do to help him next time to pass the test? Also, did they give him an extension on his work order to complete work, or just deem the car unroadworthy till he was ready to test again? Blinky
  6. That is actually a really good idea. Then the government could benefit more from the cost of the testing every time a copper pulls out the Work Order book. And we as the driving public could benefit from the cheaper rates. They could also incorporate pit inspections and other pit related functions while teaching the next generation of drivers how a "Safe Car" should be. It would in a way be helping the battle against "Hoon Behaviour" by educating kids when they are young on why these things are illegal and unsafe. Brilliant, now all we need is the DPI, and Local Government to endorse it and claim it as their idea and we are set. Blinky
  7. hahaha hell yeah, i'd love to see konstecki's shove one of their test rods up the exhaust of that monster, maybe none of us would have to the test, coz the machine would cook. lol Blinky
  8. I am still getting smashed around, hahaha I hate the DPI now. Blinky
  9. Ok everyone, I am getting close now. I have spoken to the AAAA after Neurogliders comments. I have spoken with some people there and am now armed with some good ammunition to take to the DPI. With all hope I should have my situation resolved by the end of tomorrow. After that I will explain in dot point what I have learnt. At this stage I will tell you that an official statement from the DPI is expected next week regarding the postponment of the IM240 testing regime!! Blinky
  10. A new bit of info to pass onto everyone. There is a second place in Perth that conducts the IM240 test. They are called Orbital Consulting. I have left a message with them and are waiting for a call back to discuss the process. Also still getting the run around by the DPI regarding the postponment of the testing. As far as they are concerned at this stage it is all engines forward with guns blazing. Blinky
  11. The inspector I saw is a pretty good bloke, and it broke his heart to make me do the test, but he said that it was the new regulation handed down by the DPI and if he didnt do it then he could possibly lose his license to do the sticker jobs. As it is, I am a victim of my own eagerness to have the sticker removed. I got it on Saturday, and had it over the pits on Tuesday. Maybe if I had waited a few more days I would have never heard of this bloody IM240 test. Blinky
  12. Yeah, I just spoke to the bro in law about it, I am going to talk to my inspector tomorrow as I still have 3 things he wanted me to fix from my original yellow. Hopefully he has heard this news and will revoke the work order without the IM240. I will also be posting a similar question on Antilag (as soon as I can work out the site) to see if anyone in high up positions can help meget it taken off my work order. Blinky p.s I am smiling again...
  13. I was given 28 days from the 1st of September. So how would this new information, relating to the squashing of the IM240 test rules affect me if I have already been ordered to complete the test by an inspector. Who would I have to write to to find out??? I will happily make the modifications to my car, and make my emissions legal, but being given 28 days to do it with nothing but scetchy half arsed information is a joke. What to do??? Blinky
  14. hahaha, this has turned into a nice free for all. Anyway, I was told, by the pit inspector that checked over my car, that the new emissions legislation states that all cars that go to the pits for a yellow sticker, bumper to bumper check are now required to complete and pass an IM240 test. This test was not written on my yellow sticker but I now have to do it to get that yellow off. From Konsteckis I have been told that modified cars do pass this test. Yes it's expensive, but it is just as expensive to keep pulling gear off your car and replacing it every time you get pulled over by a cop. I agree with Nic A31 as that sounds stupid. Me personally I am going off info provided to me by people who I believe understand the system. I am also going to be forking over some cash and will be improving my emissions so my mods that I already have will be passed and hopefully legal after that. Blinky
  15. I was over the pits in Bunbury. I will also be checking out the Anti Lag review, thanks Gazza/Driftt Blinky
  16. Hi Everyone A bit of background reading for this thread, check out (My First Yellow, WooHoo) As it stands now, I have been told I have 28 days to complete an IM240 Emissions Test. This is the same test that people have been talking about in SAUWA here. Anyway. I have contacted Konstcki's Garage to get the ins and outs of this test and have recieved some helpful knowledge. Last month a 300C running a 450 big block and doing the quater mile in 11's passed this test on the first attepmt. With this in mind I set about asking the guys at Konstecki's to send me out information and quotes for work to help me pass this test. I am now waiting for their advice. They also gave me the price break down for the test. $650 - Testing $130 p/h for labour $220 p/h for tuning The test is a 3 hour event where the car is tested 5 times and needs to score 5/5 passes. The guys at Konstecki's seem helpful enough and are willing to talk you through the process (no bad press so far). Anyway, I now need to get a few bits done, but the upside is that once the work is done, and I successfully pass the test, all my emissions related mods will be legal. Ie 3 inch turbo back exhaust, plumb back BOV, intercooler, cat etc... I would however pass on a note of warning from my experience so far. If you have obvious illegal bits showing on your car then get them fixed. Basically as of 2 weeks ago the DPI have been pushing the IM240 test, so any car that gets Yellowed WILL be subject to it. No exceptions. I will post more when I know more, feel free to comment or ask questions as I have probably forgotten to put bits in. Cheers Blinky
  17. Ok Everybody My final post for this thread. My 33 went over the pits today and the results are in. The bonnet is good now that it's stock, BOV is good. Everything else is fine. My windows are over tinted so I need to remove the tint to pass and I need to rig my headlights so the low and high beam stay on together if I put on the high beam. HID's were never questioned. The inspector took it for a drive and even made comment that it was one of the nicest and smoothest skylines he had ever driven. Then he dropped the bomb. I have to complete an IM240 emissions test. I will start a new topic post now titled IM240 Emissions Test. I will go through step by step whats happening so everyone else can be prepared if they ever encounter this dreadful test. Blinky
  18. Well, today is D Day. My Baby goes over the pits at 1pm and I won't even be there for it. Hopefully the first time is a charm and she comes home without a sticker... Fingers Crossed... Blinky
  19. The sticker was for the CF bonnet, and in the "Other" section they put the BOV. I have an after market BOV on there but it should be legal as it is plumb back. Any how, the stock bonnet and original BOV are back on now. I had a fiddle with a few other bits under the bonnet that they may have questioned at the inspection, so as it stands now, I am very confident that the sticker will be off by Tuesday arvo. The only nagging things left on the "Maybe Illegal List" is the 3.5 inch turbo back exhaust (hopefullly no emission test required) and the HIDs Ihave lighting the way. Fingers are crossed. Also, the CF bonnet is not for sale yet. I might use it as a chop up to modify my stock bonnet. Unsure yet. Blinky
  20. Check this site out. www.blitsbodykits.com.au and follow the links...
  21. Just for the record, "WooHoo" was written as sarcasm and not as a proclamation of joy or happiness. I am now looking at ways of making my stock bonnet look nicer, ie adding vents. I dont think the CF is going back on. Also, a company named "Blits" does offer a legal fibre glass bonnet.
  22. Just a random out there one. I got my first yellow sticker today. I was driving very responsibly down the street when I got pulled over by a Highway Patrol. Apparently my Carbon Fibre bonnet is stronger than a regular car bonnet and it is a hazard to pedestrians when I hit them (like I aim for them or something). Apparently a regular bonnet gives a little when a body hits but a Carbon Fibre one won't. ??? Anyway, now I have 10 days to get it sorted and inspected, but I will be away from Monday for 9 days. hmmm Blinky
  23. Ummm, mine. Lags a bit at the top end so need to upgrade the coil packs Hicas comes on and feels weird so I need a lock out bar The pwer wondows rattle a lil bit and may need to have the windows re tinted The nuff nuff paid to put the 400R body kit on did a messy job on the wheel arches, need fibre vision to look at fixing them up. See them tomorrow. Oh yeah, and had to settle on my 2nd choice for personal plates becaue BLINKY was already taken... (see previous thread for more info) Other than that I am happy. Blinky
