  1. Time to prep the spare N1 block and head... We might wind it up a bit and see how it goes!!
  2. Ok guys, I need help finding a rear wing... Voltex can't make me one in time, the local APR distributor has not got back to me, He said he was getting a few dual pane Nemo style ones in (designed by the man!!) and I asked that I get my name put on one... Anyone have any suggestions on where I can get one quickly or know someone that has one lying around ?? It needs to be 1695mm + 200mm long (including end plates) !!
  3. Like I said above, the 6768 had no problems making power, we did not push it ... barely touching 18psi for the 500 awkw. Making the power down low is where we need it then winding up the boost to make the top end is the plan !! 500 awkw is enough to play with (to start with)... I've done about 8 laps in the car so far... 5 at Phillip Is with no power steering and maybe 3 around SMP North Circuit with the Holinger with oil pressure warning alerts, which ended up being a case of trimming down the alert threshold at low rpms. Should be fun once its sorted!! Still got to get used to the sequential but no problems slaming through the gears with the foot flat to the floor down the striaght !!
  4. A smaller one than the 6768... Is that a good enough answer? I've been in contact with the Precision guys and they made a recommendation but we have gone for a slightly different one and we've ordered it with two different exhaust housings so that we can play on the dyno.
  5. Correct... We will be looking at the wastegate spring and boost control to try sort this out ...
  6. Here is a video from the first test at SMP ... John Boston driving the car for the first time with the Holinger, this was his first lap at what he says was at 70%... We are trying to fastrack the development of the car and sort out all of the gremlins, having John help us with this is such a bonus...
  7. It actually got tuned with e85, a bit more boost & timing all the usual stuff... Its not really being pushed but as per above posts its not making the power down low which is where its needed...see how we go with the new turbo!!
  8. Thanks again ... I'll try and keep the thread up to date as there will be pleny happening between now and WTAC!!
  9. Why should you be making peak torque at 5000 - 5500rpm? I know this this would be better and we are looking to address this with a smaller turbo but the car just loves to make the power and torque up top with the current setup ... RB30 covers seem to work fine and getting no blow by but do have a dry sump setup !!
  10. Thanks Duncan, can you change the title to "R32 GTR getting ready for WTAC @ Tunehouse" ? Actually John Boston never drove the car previously, he had a sister car which was well underdeveloped compared to this one. He drove it for the first time at SMP when we took it out for its first run with the Holinger... Getting pretty eager to get it out there again !!
  11. Continued in other thread ... "R32 GTR getting ready for WTAC @ Tunehouse" ... (please merge threads??)
  12. Tunehouse have committed to assisting me to get te car ready and John Boston is helping with the setup so it has gone from a "Oh, Yeah lets just get the car out there and have some fun" to a "Let's try and get this sorted out properly" type attitide... Still have a long todo list on the car... Here is what is happening: - The fuel pump setup is being revised and we found that the foam in the tank was deteriorating (e85) and bloking one of the lift pumps. We also found the the primary (single) pump was locking up and failing. We had fuel pressure issues during the first test ewith the new box. - After a weeks worth of emails and correspondents with the Precision Turbo guys I have ordered a new smaller turbo to try and give it a few more herbs down low. John Boston did not like the power out of the slower corners. The car made 500+ kw atw on low boost setting. Making power is not a problem !! The theory is, smaller turbo, faster spool, more power earlier in the rev range but then wind it up top and still make the power. We need more power to push the car through the air down the straight... 260 Km/h is not quick enough. - Having a good close look over the Motec configs found some interesting settings which we need to sort out and a couple sensors are ot working properly. - Need to secure front bumper and diffuser, dragging on the ground after 250 km/h and clean up aero. These are the major things but I have a a lot of little things to sort out as well ... I am hoping to merge this thread with my original thread (Plan B Track Toy) ...
  13. Hey guys once again I've been pretty slack and have not updated my build thread... ("Plan B" Another thread) Been busy at work and trying to get the car ready... John Boston will be doing a few sessions and I will be doing the rest... So the car will hopefully set some decent times and then ill have some fun!! I will post up some more updates and photos over the next few days.
  14. Received confirmation that the holinger should be delivered this week... hopefully it will be installed and be drivable again next week. Now I need to get the wheel alignment sorted to a starting point, finish off some wiring and then get the car down to Tunehouse to check the tune and give it a tweak then off to get a feel for it around Sydney Motorsport Park... Should be interesting!!
  15. Update: - Astra Power steering pump installed by UAS using standard astra fuse/relay but is not setup with PDM yet. Will be hooked up properly in the next week or two by my motec guy. - Holinger sent an email... box should be ready late June/early July... fingers crossed it turns up sooner rather than later. - Rear lower control arms fitted by UAS, waiting for front Ikeya arms to arrive. - Application to WTAC PRO-AM class was successful. Now I need to get serious with getting myself ready for the challenge... need to lose another 10 kgs, sort out the right knee and get in some sort of shape (other than round). It's gonna be fun!
  16. Yeah ... money, money, money ...all going into that big black hole!! But I'm not giving up, it will be sorted out... I'm in my mid 40s and if I do not get this project finished and the car running to its potential then I might just throw in the towel. Latest update... - The Holinger will not be delivered until mid - late July. Has anyone got a spare gearbox to loan me for a couple track days? I promise (fingers crossed) I won't break it. - Electric Power Steering pump installed and will get wired up into the Motec PDM. - I'm replacing the Odyssey with a Lithium battery (its due to die soon) - I'm looking at installing the adjustable Ikeya lower control arms It's been close to 18 months and I still have not had a decent drive in the car yet... I'm not sure if I am going to put in an entry form for Superlap this year ...
  17. Cooling setup... PWR radiator and oil cooler. Willowood pedalbox Ratios ... not finalised yet ordering holinger... probably use their recommended ratios.
  18. Yeah, that's racing... just need to sort it out. Dissapointing that the PPG gearset seems to have given up!?! The engine felt strong and as long as you keep it above 5000 rpm it was very responsive. Actually it felt quite linear powerwise which was surprising. It did not come on like a light switch. It loves to rev... Suspension wise it felt good...not hard and not soft. Can't wait to get it out to Eastern Creek.
  19. Sorry guys, I've been a bit slack, here is an update... After spending 5 days rushing to get the wiring finished, get the boost controller and Knock box setup and then get it tuned and spanner checked I towed it to Phillip Island for the Nissan Datsun Nationals for its first outing. First session out, practically the first corner, it spat the power steering belt and it knocked the dry sump belt off. The warning lights flashed and I switched it off. It had a wobble in the power steering pully and it did fall off a couple times during tuning but we tightened it up and it seamed ok... not! We put a spare oil belt back on and I took the car out for the second session without any power steering... not much fun. Hitting the apexes was pretty difficult and having no feel in the steering wheel was not confidence building. I only got a couple laps in to get a feel for the car before the session was red flagged. At least I got a chance to bed the brakes in a bit. Third session I warmed the tyres up and then decided to have a go... First real flying lap it broke 3rd gear !! Game over. All in all I got about 5 laps none at any real pace but if you asked me whether it was worth it .. the answer is yes!! The car felt great under power and flat changing up the gears (using the ignition cut on the gearknob) felt fantastic. The car has been sitting in the trailer at home and I've been restricted to playstation by the missus for a few months. I will hopefully get the box out next week and send it to a specialist to get sorted but the guys in the know are telling me to get a Holinger.
  20. Quick update... now much work has happened to the car. It is now at a Motec specialist getting completely re-wired. I just have to stay patient. Still have a few minor issues to address as well as address any problems following the re-wiring and then get to the track for some practice to make sure thecar is ok before the Nissan Datsun Nationals... Cant wait to get it out for a run ...
  21. I've already paid and sent the entry form, will be doing the Sprint sessions ... Better get in early!!
  22. Thanks, I feel that the car is still 1/2 ready, suspension & Aero are just as important, if not more important than power!
  23. Its going to be a different car once the suspension gets redone. The motor with a single will also give it a different feel but I agree johns input would be great...
