  1. Thanks all ,i just did this works in a R31 aswell RB30DET with redrilled/elongated engine mount brackets holes drivers side by 15mm lower ,passenger bolt holes elongated by half a hole is all it would go. I took turbo side engine mount bracket (4 bolts off) then plenum Greddy copy just fitted past clutch master cylinder from r33.
  2. Howdy all, just thought i better make my presence known this sight is awesome have been reading a lot on the RB30 conversions and man there are some smart people on here to nut out all of these mods required. Sort of like a universal mind for skylines i used to think some one else in the world would have had the same problems iv'e had and has worked it out mmm i'll have a look on the net Skylines Australia kept popping up a wealth of knowledge. This is the place to learn all things Skyline. Just to name a few off the top of my head Sydney Kid, Cubes, Cefii, and all others that helped out with massive input awesome job and the forum great work. Before reading Skylines Australia After
  3. Check your inlet manifold with a can of oil if it sucks it in when engine is on could cause it to use heaps of fuel and be underpowered. Change inlet manifold gasket if it's leaking ie sucking oil in. The cat could be blocked or broken/rattly,do a comp test could be burnt valves or cracked head at worst.
  4. Yeah i feel ya pain guys,i attempted this job myself r33 gtst box and saved a bit of coin for a( start )to get as far as i did but like the others quoted you need a swear jar and patients of a saint when taking this on for a first time with minimal guide/manual. . I got as far as removing 5th drive gear and the other bearing and gears off the lay shaft i used a standard 3 legged puller and got some flat bar to extend the arms on the puller not the best but worked (chipped the 5th drive gear )then i got to the point where you need the press to push out the main bearing/shaft from the carrier plate theres a massive cir clip holding it you can't get to thats when i said f$@###% it i'm dropping it off to the box shop. I rang first n asked how much an hour they charged it was about $100. When i dropped it off he said thats how far they all get i didn't feel so bad then all up was 300 labour and about 220 odd for 2nd n 3rd gear syncs to be changed and another 5th drive gear out of a gtr bought a smashed box for 100 and dropped that off and they took 5th from it. Genuine parts want $550 for one 5th gear cog if you want a complete gear/bearing set is about 2200 new complete box is 3200. My advice some times it's cheaper n time saving ,much less frustrating to pay some one else to do what they do best still hate parting with cash but it's gotta be done to get the project going depending on damage. Maybe worth while to just get another good nick box. Hope this helps some one attempting this job on what is involved ,special tools.
  5. If you already have it apart take your old parts in to an aftermarket drive components shop and just match them up cheaper than genuine. Other commercial boxes have the same parts Cheers
  6. You could do the cheaper option first and change the oil to redline gear oil i used the red heavy duty one in my old r31 turbo aus compliance it had a crunchy second after driving around slowly and sympatheticly for a while it seemed to feel smoother each day of driving. Then it stopped crunching even on a 6000rpm fast shift but it was always on my mind it was only ever going to buy some time. A rebuild is the only way to realy fix worn parts or try the cheaper option tube of nulon first.
  7. I rebuilt my r33 gtst box here in Perth wa drive components i got non genuine synchros Ph 08 92779640 the 2nd gear synchro was $95 from memory cheaper than oe parts and 120 for third sync. You will need your vin number to deal with Nissan or aftermarket option or strip box down and take the parts in to match them up.
  8. I have seen the ratio calculator somewhere for tyre sizes to diff ratio comparison from memory the ratios go as follows. Standard 225/50r16 for a r32 gtst = 4.3's 225/55r16 = 4.11 235/60r16 = 3.9 Might work out cheaper than a diff change only thing is it will put your speedo out.
