  1. FOR SALE:

    Make: Holden

    Model: 2003 COMMODORE VY "Acclaim"; Sedan, 3.8L V6

    Milage: 147,000 (ish - tad less)

    Transmission: Auto

    Colour: White

    Location: Hornsby

    Rego: Yes, June 2009

    Price: $8,500 neg

    Contact: DJ - 0422 646 173

    Comments:

    * Partial Service History

    For those that don't know the difference (I didn't); the Acclaim has, over the commodore:

    * 4 power windows

    * 4 Air bags

    * Cruise Control

    * Speed dependant wipers, stereo volume

    * few other accessories - basically, the Acclaim is referred to as an "Options" vehicle, over the Commodore.

    EXTRAS INCLUDE:

    * Nokia Blue tooth phone kit installed, hiden behind dash

    * Modified stereo - plug an amp into the standard head unit for better sound and keep that stock look so no-one touches it. The other benefit is that this retains usage of the steering wheel controls etc.

    THE BAD POINTS (Honest sale):

    * Small leak in one of the radiator hosese - found the issue but haven't had the time / energy to fix

    * Needs new tyres

    If you wanted to throw a nice set of wheels on it, nice amp + speakers for sound; she'd be great.

    Also, for full price, I will throw in a brand new set of rotors and pads (all 4 corners; still in boxes)

    Reason for Sale:

    I've had medical issues and have another car so I want to get rid of this one asap so it's one less thing I have to worry about.

    Give me a call on 0422 646 173 to come and have a look

    Cheers guys,

    DJ

  2. thats f**ked im not from sydney all its going to take is for someone one day to catch some thiefing bastard and give them a belting of there life and then its going to be on tv and everything and maybe some of the thiefs might be extra careful..

    That's happened before and it doesn't work... I know indirectly of one person that did pretty much this and now THEY are in gaol... not the theif.

  3. 3. Police are not necessarily lazy, they just have budgetary, political and management set priorities.

    I think I have a pretty substantial history to post on this particular comment... anyone who doubts that can look in my signature and see what I've been through. I think you've touched on the key issue here but not quite hit the nail on the head. I agree completely with what you're saying but have to say it goes much further than that.

    The problem with "society" today is "society" itself... every prick wants something for nothing and expects to just "get everything they deserve"... the problem with this is the point GTST was making (again, someone who has a strong historic opinion on the topic - from memory there are posts in my thread that reflect this)... His point is that everyone's complaining "my car got stolen from miranda car park along with the 20,000 other imports this month and the police won't do anything and the shopping centre won't help, blah, blah, blah... who's gotten off their arse and taken affirmative action to rectify the situation?

    Before I go on, I'm not trying to reflect negatively on anyone other than the people stealing the cars so please read this with an open mind. To expose the same flaws in myself I can say that the loss of my GTR set me back an amount in the vicinity of $100K over a period of around 18 months. The reasoning behind this is that I sought "justice" and I thought (being a little ignorant I suppose) that the legal system would provide that... how wrong this opinion actually is...

    The police can't do anything because political correctness, the power of minorities and the law itself place so many limitations on the powers of justice that they have become nothing more than glorified desk-top administrators for the most part (again people - open mind and listen to the message, avoid jumping to negative defence here)

    The law is absolutely useless because, in my opinion, it's written and controlled by some of the most corrupt people society has to offer and there are countless loop-holes that mean, no matter how hard you push, how honest you are and how legitimate your claim... justice and the law have nothing (or, at best, very little to say the least) to do with each other.

    If you want to bitch on a forum, get an alarm, put in some kill switches and (if you can afford it), get insurance (I know, it costs a fkn fortune and it’s a joke but at least you’re covered and you’re not spending $100K in 18 months that you don’t have!)

    If you want something done about the problem then, as GTST was pointing out… you need to take smart action over the mediums available and force a change in society for the better. Saying “let’s get together and bash them” is idiodic… how bout trying “let’s get together as a respectable organised group and work out how we’re going to take action to prevent the loss of so many people’s pride and joy”?? The obvious start is to discuss areas where there is a high volume of thefts and advise people in the car community to avoid these areas... the options are endless…

    There’s my rant for the day it’s kinda long but hey, I haven’t really posted much since the loss of my car so consider it 2 years worth of posts in one hit.

    Cheers,

    Dave.

  4. Is this car still for sale? If so how hard is it to ship interstate and does it require checks to be registered etc??? Interested if not much of a problem.

    and as far as cheap GTR's go here is one for 22k... but like i said who knows how it runs :rofl:. That's why i'm not interested in it.

    Don't forget to look at the whole picture man;

    Not included is the cost of tyres, Govt. stamp duty and registration (normal licensing costs for any vehicle). Additional cost may be incurred in replacing the aftermarket exhaust prior to compliance.

    There's a few grand on it's own (I'd allow at least 3 for everything) which puts it at $25K then it's pretty easy to see she's no where near as tidy as the one for sale here and you have to wait for it to come from jap land before you can even see it in the flesh to check out any surprises...

    Not trying to flame you just reminding you that the 22K there isn't the end result here.

    Dunno where you're located but for interstate cars in NSW, you need to get a Blue Slip done ($50 at the most should cover that) then pay your rego fees as usual.

    Shippings easy enough, people do it all the time. or fly there and drive back :)

    Sweet car slygtr, g/l with the sale!

  5. Hey all,

    looking for a panel beater in sydney (preferably towards the beaches area) that can do a good priced job for a mate of mine... She's got a fairly new corolla and had a car park incident with a wall leaving some scrapes over the rear quarter (backing out of a car space). At the same time I beleive she wants the other rear quarter tidied up a lil bit (a few scratches).

    Obviously you can't quote without seeing the vehicle but if there's anyone who thinks they can do a good price for someone on a budget that would be excellent, please send me an email with contact details that I can pass on to the owner.

    (P.S. not looking to replace door handles with new ones etc which will take a lot of cost out, just want to smooth and re-do the paint).

    Let me konw via email if you need any further info.

    Thanks in advance all,

    Dave.

  6. No, compliance will never be available for the A32 model Cefiro.... you're pretty sad arnt you?

    WELL, Nissan actually sold A32's locally.... as Maximas. So there are about a billion around and heaps under 10k.

    Yeah, but then I have to do the work myself :laugh:

  7. Don't you kids get it ?

    You are not allowed to drive a turbo car. Regardless of what you may think, you do not have the skill to safely control a turbocharged car on your P's.

    The majority of the people on this forum will agree.

    If you drive a turbocharged car and get caught, which I hope you do. You will not be insured. You will need to pay for all damages, and injuries from your OWN/PARENTS pockets, which I doubt any of you will be able to afford.

    Buy a another, non-turbo car, enjoy it. Spend the rest on getting drunk and chicks.

    Add to this:

    you screw up big time and go up a gutter. Actually, no, lets put you into an "im a perfect driver, i'll never crash" kinda bullshit category: Someone else screws up and puts you into a gutter and through a shop window... that's why insurance policies have such a huge amount of coverage, cause the other person kept on driving, leaving you with nothing but the blame... You imagine having to pay up $200,000 for the business' repair costs and days of business lost due to damage etc 'cause you're not covered by insurance 'cause you wanted to drive a turbo car rather than something simple that you can learn in for 3 years.

    I dunno about you but I'd take 3 years of a little car i can chuck around and have fun in over a debt of $200,000 for the rest of my life. I'd prefer to put that $200,000 to home ownership etc. Wouldn't you?

    Imagine it's a car dealership... add 3 new merc's to the bill and it just jumped up to about $400,000.

    Still wanna risk it?

  9. Hi all, I'm 21 and got my license a couple of months ago, and have recently come into a situation where I'm able to buy an extremely good condition R33 GTS-T from a colleague. However I'm also aware of the ridiculous restriction laws on P-platers.

    I don't want to wait 3 years while kids are driving around in more powerful Aussie 6-cylinders. What would the penalty be for me driving the Skyline, and how often do you think I'd be pulled over?

    I work with someone who got pulled into an RBT on the weekend in her audi turbo and is loosing her license for driving a turbo car on p's... I honestly don't think it's worth the risk. If you're that keen on the style of car, get a non-turbo one. If you want more power, do an RB30DE build, make her tough and whack that in there...

    just my 2c, your license, your money

  10. Hey mate,

    Very nice! couple of quick questions for ya.

    1) what kind of safe power potential does she have?

    2) does it have a 5 stud conversion and what brakes are you runnning?

    Also, so you know where I'm at right now. I'm not in a position to buy straight away but may be in the coming weeks (just so you don't get too excited and think you have a sale :mellow:)

    Cheers,

    Dave
