  1. I imported a 2001 R34 GT-T in 2009 after ordering it blind from a used car yard in Osaka where it was built and lived. I'd just seen Eric Banners "Love the Beast" and decided my Magna no longer cut the mustard. When i got it I drove over 15,000km's in the first four days - it was that nice to drive (and I had to get home.) Since then I've put another 60,000km on it as my daily driver and loved every minute. I've dealt with some common issues such as coil-packs and cracked plastic radiators but the skyline has never missed a beat. Then I went mental and changed the front bar - put a front mount and a Garrett 3076r in it. Telling the truth it really didn't need it. Stock it was fine but I got a little carried away. You know how these things happen sometimes?! Anyway what your really thinking is "Tell me about the gearbox!" Right? Well, I got your basic pewter GT-T with the 4 speed triptronic auto that features awesome push button gear changes on the steering wheel. In sports mode it is fairly responsive and has an added bonus of not dropping any boost during a change. In stock form it also has a boost step up at 5,000k rpm that takes takes boost up to 7psi and it screams right up to the bouncy bouncy rev limiter. I think I'm putting out around 260kw at the wheels (unsure on exact number - I need to find someone who can really do a proper tune) and the car can sometimes be a little slow to respond. It is not a super responsive car power-wise - faster than most of the things on public roads by a long way but it lends itself to open road driving where it can really stretch its legs. You put the foot down and the revs climb but you don't get the punch of some turbo cars - more a wave of power that keeps on rolling. I took it up to the speed limiter once in stock form. I just jammed it in drive and let it do its own thing and third gear ran out just as the limiter kicked in and scared the shit out of me. It will easily do power stands if that's your thing and the handling is pretty good. It really hugs the road and inspires confidence. It really feels special every-time I get in it and if that's what you want I'd suggest it.
  2. Looking at this picture I wish I had removed the number plate for this photo.
  3. Mind if I grab those r34 prices as well Phil?
  4. This out at the sprint tracks on Shaws road??
  5. Was quoted a soft $400 because of the unsure nature of my issues but that should include the plugs.
  6. It's booked in for Tuesday with Paul @ X-treme. I'm going to try and get a video of it on the dyno so this weekend I'll be washing it and changing the oil.
  7. Hmm, When I emailed them last year they said they didn't really tune nistune but could do me a viptech for a cool four grand. It's already got a 3076R and some supporting add ons but it needs a decent tuner to get the best out of it. Right now I don't get much love above 5k because it either over-boosts until it cuts out or it hesitates so much it feels like the engine is just about to fall out of the bottom of the car. I think I will end up taking it to Paul. He had a little trouble with the software last time I had him look at it but I think I've got it sorted now. Plus he didn't have his dyno up and running then. As for the body work... It's been to northern crash repair and I wasn't too pleased with the finished result. Nothing major just little things that could have been done better. EG: Small dint left in a freshly painted bonnet, bonnet wasn't aligned correctly, the body kit could have been better secured and tighter.
  8. Hey guys, I'm still cruising around Townsville so wave to the bloke in the turbo'd Tokyo taxi if you get the chance. I'm also trying to decide on a few things. My ride has some issues and its been tough to get some of them sorted. Boost creeping past 15psi, hesitation at 5k and stalling. Up until now the main issue has been cash flow (I'm studying - hence strapped) but I've got some plastic cash put aside now so I run into a second problem. Who will do the work? So far the choices appear to be Paul at Extreme and Lee at LG Automotive for the mechanical (unless anyone else started tuning Nistune in the last year and I've missed it?) and Prestige Paint and Panel for some touch ups to the body work. Any other ideas?
  9. Speaking of selling wheels. I need to get rid of some 17" factory R34 GT-T wheels. They have a few scratches and some worn down but probably usable tyres. $400 bucks pick up from the city.
  10. I didn't get much of a look... I was playing silly buggers in my car at ZE AUTO BAHN car-park trying to decide where to put my new boost gauge and I looked round to see this fourth gen Pulsar sitting with its front wheels in a garden bed. haha. I found out that most cars launch with surprising speed when you start them in gear after plowing through two fridges, a sink and a shed wall in my parents Nivara so I think that's what happened here. Meanwhile, the place I want to put this boost gauge is going to require some dash mutilation I think.
  11. I'd be up for a cruise.. Meanwhile, Phil, who tried to launch the Pulsar through the garden bed?
  12. No problem Phil. I'll drop by around 10sh.
  13. Just an update: Please let me know if this doesn't belong here... Paul @ xtreme wasn't able to get any of his laptops to talk to my ECU through my USB consult cable so he wasn't able to do a tune but he did fix up a few air leaks and pointed out a crack in my radiator that means it'll need to be replaced... After about ten minutes of mucking around I managed to get my laptop talking to it and I was able to mess around with the settings (lol 2000RPM rev limiter) so now I'm looking for someone who will be a good fit to do the tune, replace the radiator and plump the BOV in (It's blowing to atmo and causing the car to stall when you let off). Any suggestions?
  14. Really, I thought the z32 afm would help with the tune? Because the one I bought ended up being a knock off anyway. As for the tune... Paul's had the car since Tuesday. I'm going to head down there this morning and see what's happening.
  15. I've got a Nistune daughter-board and Paul from Xtreme is doing the tune today. I've heard both good and bad things but frankly no one else in town I talked too seemed at all interested in dealing with the nistune. The quotes I got from other places were about 100x more than what Xtreme offered but I had to wait because they are installing a new dyno... which didn't turn up so he'll be doing the tuning on TMS's dyno. Here's a rundown of the car for anyone interested: - Unopened RB25DET Neo (omg, trip-tronic~!) - Garrett 3076r turbo - 3" exhaust and FMIC by Hi-Flow - Sard 8mm Fuel Regulator - Z32 AFM - Spitfires coils and some platinum sparks - K&N POD - NISTUNE daughter-board - Larger transmission cooler Anyone want to make guesses on how much KW that'll give me? or if it'll just grenade?
