  1. my girlfriend got some wheels done for $25 each (sandblasted and coated) there pretty decent as well. they were done somewhere in lonsdale. i think it was lonsdale power coaters or something, granted, it could have been AAA. i have no idea
  2. preferably black but not really fazed. shoot me a PM or reply here if you have something to offer. Peace.
  3. if it aint broke dont touch it. why change the oil if its still full - not the point. point is. why change the oil if it still holds all qualities of oil ie. removes hear, cleans, protects. etc. etc. why change your tires if there still hold air. not the point. point is. why change the tire if it still grips under all driving conditions. you can twist the "if it aint broke dont touch it" thing quite alot, but it has to be used with discression. seriously, if a mechanic said you dont need new tires because they are still inflated they need a giant, blunt object inserted into their anus. owell. om only asking because the RB has 140k k's on it so i was told, and i want to change the timing belt as a precaution as i dont know its history. i dont know how far i should take it and what stuff i should replace.
  4. the mech at work was using the dont touch it if it aint broke theory on the waterpump, which is generally the way one would look at it. BUT, as its an RB engine, and its behind the timing belt, i see your reasoning to do it (and im sure he would as well). im an apprentice mechanic, (9 months. not 3 years) thus asking for advice. the bearings will get done with the belt, and so will the waterpump. i just bought the skyline, its done 140000ks, im heavily considering changing it, as i have no idea of the cars history.
  5. Hey guys, Looking around, ive noticed that when members replace there timing belt, they replace there tensioner bearings and water pump as well. i can sorta understand the bearings, as if they f%out then the car will to be blunt blow up. but i dont get why it seems to be common to replace the water pump as well. i was talking to a few other mechanics at work and they agree with me, saying that if it aint broke, dont touch it. - and with the bearings. should they be changed regardless as good practice, or if they show signs or wear?
  6. so they measured up my car to see how much lower it will be with there sports ryder springs. (i have nismo s type struts and an unknown but firm spring, that i figured was stockish height) aparently they will raise the car 10mm both ends. wtf type of lowering spring is that!!! *starts saving for coilovers* (not pedders)
  7. whats the offset like? fills the guards/ stick out the side of the car ?
  8. Howdy, what colour are the front guards? and im assuming there the front quarter panels?? if so hit me up on PM. Cheers.
  9. it does seem to be a bit of a franchise thing, and personal experience, as from reading this thead, it seems some people are getting a raw deal from one shop, and others going to the same place and finding it bliss. i went down to my local pedders and got some of there sports Ryder springs (well i will tomorrow, i ordered them ) the owner was saying that he doenst like selling them, as they are illegally low (his preferance i guess, as it is his store), and that generally the springs that they make are about 20% stiffer than standard springs. You have to remember that because its a franchise, that each store is very much independent, they just have the same stockists. so comparing service and a generality would be a mistake. - it would be cool to have a thread comparing experiences with the pedder products. so are there springs red whiteline springs? or actual pedders springs?
  10. yeah the struts look good, just demolished boots lol. i dunno what springs i wanna put on there. tein s tech seem the way to go, but i dunno if they will be too soft for me. otherwise ill prob get some custom made ones, i cant find a place to buy them other than ebay. off topic, anyone know any good online parts dealers based in AUS? Cheers for ya feedback scotty.
  11. haha ahk, ill take your word for it, didnt know if the seats would be any different. cheers for your help 08 =)
  12. ya know, after looking at the rear of the car for a while, i recon the camber isnt actually taht huge, its just the fact that it has a standard rear bar on it, is quite high, and the wheels are 17" by 9". so the angle (even though minimal) shows up quite a bit.
  13. do standard R32 springs fit into the nismo struts? or are they a 'special" size? the car looks raised imo, maybe the struts are longer and they got standard height stiff springs. i only asked about camber as i know you get camber the lower you go, and the car already has negative camber. as much as i want to lower the car, its not really practice if camber goes through the roof. big questions are. 1. do stander diameter springs fit in to the struts, 2. how much would camber change if i drop her an inch?
  14. i got some pics of them that im uploading to tinypic. (ill post them in about 5min, probably by the time i finish writing this), the top of the struts front and rear are just a threaded bolt with a nut on them. im assuming its just the shocker bolted into the strut top?) i uploaded a pic of teh car itself, its sitting on 17" rims, yet seems to be VERY high, specially for a skyline (lol). the struts do look black, GRANTED, they are probably very dirty, - i just shoved my phone under the car and took photos, the flash is pretty extreme so everything looks shiny so the next question is, is for me to lower it, can i just buy lower springs from ebay listed for an R32? or are the struts different? and the car has already got some pretty noticeable camber, how much does lowering the car effect this? EDIT: took a pic of the strut top. sorry about the large sizes/shit quality.
  15. yeah that got me curious, i have only heard of the nismo S tune struts, (which are indeed silver from what i hear). ill get a picture as soon as i can.
  16. hey guys, popped the car (r32) up on a hoist today and sussed out the struts (as there rather firm, thus i don't believe there stock, not that i have ever found another skyline with stock suspension to compare it too.. haha) all i can tell is that there black and have "nismo" plastered on the side of each strut. there quite firm as well. not solid, but firm enough to get more or less no roll around corners. anyone have any ideas where they came from? nb. the springs are black as well.
  17. hopefully someone can give me a bit of advice fair quick, anywho, i just got a skyline with a bodykit on it that i dont really want (not untill i fix some stuff anyways) but i got the rear bumper and front (factory) ive taken the rear (non facttory) bar off, and the little screw things that hold it on, and ive dummy fitted the factory bar, but how does it attach? is it via 4 bolts, 2 on each side, and through the numberplate frame thingo? if so, what are the clips that go on there to make it stay? (the clips that came of the bodykit bar are straight, but for them to fit onto the factory bar they need to be bent like, 90 degrees or somin.) so yeah, any clarification/ advice would be topps. cheers.
  18. and the beast has been sold to me mwahahahahahahah
  19. sweet tutorial!!! good camera work as well !! kudos for teh info!
  20. cool write up! but. the pics are gone because you didn't use your photo bucket account.
  21. put them on the A pillar somewhere. because its an audio thing (and managing the high frequencies) having them down low would be poinless IMO. specially for sound quality.
  22. japanese wreckers would do the trick.. or forums.
  23. i wouldnt stress over it really.. (as it will jsut happen again) but, you would have to sand it back (800grit wet and dry then a 2000 grit) then paint it on. detail wont really matter because of the position. but if ya gonna do it, make sure you prep the area.
