Matt, I have a 32GTR also (Traditional Grey) and had a VIPEC installed during a birthday the car had recently. They are supported by Mark (Godzilla) and Trent at Mercury Motorsport, so i guess the support is available here in Bris for tuning ETC. Overall i beleive they are a good unit, with the ability to have multiple tunes set up on your laptop (98 octane and E85) with an easy reflash if you need to swap at say a track day. Talk to Mark, i am sure he will be able give you a heads up. Get Mark to check your ignitor (feeds power to the coil packs) and make sure its ok. Anyhow, your on the right path - great car - happy driving. Adam.
  2. I have a 32 GTR with Tein Monflex coilovers. They are a lot dearer than Tein S/S but are well worth the extra you pay. If you are looking for compromise between track and street then these are a good option. My car is set up for track, and i,ll admit doesn't do as many track days as it should, but still sees a reasonable amount of street use. On the street i set the EDFC on the softest setting and the car is great (don't need a kidney belt). However the whole balance of the car comes down to the bars, and the EDFC just allows a little more comfort when the car is not at the track, as well as allowing adjustment on the day-depending on the track and the conditions, tyres ETC. If you are street driven over 90% of the time and set the car up so, you have a lot on your plate trying to adapt the car at the track - it really needs to be the other way round. To be honest most of the cars i see these days that have had suspension mods done (unless they are serious) look like bouncing bricks on the road (and very uncomfortable as well). If your streeting most of time go for a softer bar and coilover setup - and your ride will pay you back in kind, however if you want to run at the track - then spend the money and live with a little less comfort on the street. Cheers!
  3. Hi, was hoping someone could help me out with an ID on my GTR. VIN is BNR32-002002 Model is KBNR32RXFSLMZG I know the car was built in 1989, but i am unsure what the last four letters on the model code mean. (LMZG) Hopefully someone can give me a heads up! Thanks!
  4. Hi all, was hoping someone could help me out with an ID on my GTR. VIN is BNR32-002002 Model is KBNR32RXFSLMZG I know the car was built in 1989, however i am trying to find out what the last four letters in the Model car are (LMZG). Is the car some sort of weird V spec option at the time? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Is the tune stock ? If so the 95 from any will be fine (it is cleaner and has less shit in it than 91) If the car has been tuned to run 98 (no cars run a standard 98 tune other than after 2003) then you need to stick with 98, or the thing will ping like shit (detonation) and end up hurting the engine. In my book 98 is the cleanest, best option - even if the car hasn't been specifically tuned to run on it the engine management will make good use of it after a while. Prior to entering the turbo scene i ran a modified LS1 (making 360kw RW) in a VY 1 tonner as an everyday work and play. It had all the frills and was given a birthday (with the upgrades) at around 80,000klms - and up to that point had run on 91. When the heads came off the engine was that full of crap (carbon) and the injection system/inlet manifold was full of pasty, nasty shit that would amaze most. After the rebuild (with dart heads, 10.8 to one comp and stout camshaft) with a new engine management system the ute ran only 98 and was pulled down at 260,000 klms for a tidy up pre-sale. The heads, injection and manifold were as clean as - and the thing had seen a lot of shitty conditions running between Brissy and the Bowen Basin around the coalfields in NQ. fuels aint fuels! - you get what you pay for!
  6. Hi Guy's, I am new to the scene and have a BR32 GTR. I am looking for support in Brisbane for suspension, mechanical etc! Need to find someone reputable to assist with upgrades i need for the car, with mixed responses from the mainstream suppliers that don't fill me with too much confidence. I am not looking to go full track or over the top, however the car makes reasonable power already and needs a few issues tidied up, coilovers/suspension needs doing, exhaust and possibly a good tune/checkover. It hasn't been dynoed for a couple of years. The engine is out of an R34 GTR, with ball bearing turbo's and 15 psi it performs well with over 240kw's last tune. Little things such as the front/rear adjustable torque splitter are not working, left hand electric window motor. I have had the car six months and only now have some time to start sorting it. Thanks!
  7. Hi all, I am new to the scene and also have these same problems at the moment here is Brisbane. I have an R32 GTR, needing coilovers/suspension upgrade with front and rear bars, new inner/outer CV Boots, Rack Boots and bushes, and probably a bloody good going over by someone who specialises in them. I would appreciate any reccomendations on offer for a good support base for suspension (supply and setup) and any specialists in the general Brissy, Goldy, Sunny region that can assist with R32 GTR parts, mechanical etc.
